...in editing. Today I manged to edit a couple of hours. Project "Secret" now goes into the final round. But it is still a lot to do. The final edits need intensive work. I think this 4 weeks break in editing was necessary that I could free my mind. The pressure I put on myself probably was contraproductive.
Meanwhile I have received MoviePack 7. I haven't installed it yet because I want to install it on a clean, new setup Windows for video editing only. The partiton on the system drive which I want to use is used from project "Secret" at the moment. But I don't set myself under pressure again, so it can take a while until I'll use it. -

No progress with project "Secret". Again I lack motivation. So i don't think it'll be released before Christmas. I hope I can motivate myself to finish it this year.
I have decided to open a studio. I got some webspace with a domain and some nice features for a really good price. Of course it must be filled with life.
Last sunday I bought a "Queen Millenia - The Movie" DVD at ebay. It looked like the original Japanese one. Yesterday it arrived. It's a damned bootleg. I think I will report it to the police.
The special offers from AIST save me a lot of money. Today I've ordered MoviePack 7. I wish they had come some days earlier. It had saved me a little bit more money. I hadn't to buy MoviePack for an update, the crossupdate from MovieDV had been 15€ cheaper.

XD - It's done! 2005-12-11 16:15:37 I could finish the AMV for the hentai IC "Hot Coffee" with a comfortable time buffer. If I hadn't took part, I'd never knew that I'm able to make an AMV in such a short time. Of course, it's a short AMV, only 57 seconds. But this is more than I made 'til now at a weekend. Different from other IC, we had the choise between a number of songs. I've decided for James Brown "I feel good". The hentai I've used is "Slave Doll". I'll put it up on the org as soon as I will have webspace from which I can indirect link. To summarize this contest: It was fun, but it was stress too. I recommend for everyone who never took part at an IC: "Try it!"

then starts "Hot Coffee". The preparations for it teached me some lessons. In speed comparisons between MJPEG at 100% and HuffYUV I've figured aut that MJPEG decodes faster but encodes slower than HuffYUV. The overall comparison shows advantages for the MJPEG codec. The footage I use was hard to deinterlace due to crappy quality and the usual fieldblending that appears in PAL footage which origins from NTSC. I have figured out a fast and dirty method, which removes all interlacing artefacts. Simply separate fields and throw away every second field. Then apply all filters on the remaing fields, which have of course the half size of the original footage. After all is done, resize it to normal height. The result looks surprisingly good.
I want to buy some new footage at ebay. The information about the TV norm seems to be wrong, so I emailed the seller. But he doesn't anwer. :( - Preparations... 2005-12-07 16:21:32 ... for "Hot Coffee" are in progress. The sources I've chosen are really crappy. Insane interlacing, many compression artefacts and so on. The filters slowed down the rendering process that much, that I decided not to use the switch and bait method with VFAPI. I use switch and bait with a low quality MJPEG for editing and a highest quality MJPEG for final rendering. Yes, you read right. During my tests I couldn't find any difference between HuffYUV and MJPEG at 100% Quality, but the MJPEG had half the size of the Huffy. The speeds of HuffYUV and the MJPEG-codec I've installed are comparable. HuffYUV renders a little bit faster, but the MJPEG perfoms a faster DivX encode. The overall perfomance is the same. As a bonus, the DivX encode from the MJPEG looks a little bit (nearly not remakable) better.
