Under pressure
2006-07-11 16:20:13
I was always confident that I can finish my MEP segment right in time. But due to my vaction plans I'm under pressure now. Only 1 1/2 weeks to work on it. Today I have corrected some synching issues. This time I'm sure that the sections got distorted after I'd synched them correctly because the wave form is that clear that even me can't fail. I still have no idea how it happens.
I think I'll use the coming weekend to finish my beta version instead of riding my bike. During my vacations I'll be long enough into the saddle.

All the hopes for Germany's team to become FIFA world champion were blown away in the last two minutes of the extra time. I wish they had made it into the penalty shoot out. That way we had reached the finals. But probably it is correct that they don't have the chance to become world champions. Germany has a great team, but it lacks a really important ability: To turn chances into goals.
My Corsica project needs much more time than I'd expected. I needed hours to find acceptable settings for my scanner, and I had still to add some filters in MP7 to improve the quality. I've tried something that I'll use in a future AMV, and despite saying it's simple dropping of the photos without syching I decided to synch, because Corsican Corridor has something very remarkable that I simply couldn't ignore. Maybe that's the curse of being an AMV editor, always obeying the music. So it's not finished yet, still 1 or 2 hours to work (I hope not more)
After having 99 stars for months, Noir-Episode#25 finally crossed the 100 stars barrier. I wonder when A Life For A Dream (Remake) will follow with actually 98 stars. If there weren't that much pending stars both would have crossed that barrier months ago.
The party of our choir to celebrate it's 100th anniversary was very good. It had a great final on monday night with an over 20 minutes professional firework.

I made it!
2006-06-29 13:03:14
Hooray!!! I made it! Now I'm in the top league of AMV creators. One of my AMV is posted at youtube (curious if the journal is censored too). XD But the triumph isn't complete - I got credited as creator. :( It's "A Life For A Dream", and it is rated with 4.5 stars.
Yesterday I was in doubts about the Freddy Mercury MEP. Again an editor dropped out, and I didn't hear anything from the others. I wasn't sure if they dropped out without telling me. So I PMed them, and the answers made me happy: They're still in and working on their segments. That confirms me that as long as you hear nothing the things are going well. I shouldn't have had doubts, especially not for one. She wouldn't let me down for sure, and if she had to drop out for a reason she'd tell me right in time. I'm happy that this MEP has a concept which allows editors to drop out without endangering it (except if all drop out ;) ). But I'd like to have some more in.
Because of the party of our choir I'm not at work at monday and tuesday. So I have a long weekend. I'll use it to make my first non AMV video. Actually, it'll be more a picture show. I'll scan the photos from my 2001 Corsica trip and make a slide show to - guess what - "Corsican Corridor". This will be nice entertainment, compared with AMV-making. Simply dropping the pictures in, some simple transitions. Not caring about synching, no scene selection, no effects, no story or idea behind it. Simple and easy. I believe the most time I'll spend with scanning the pictures.

addendum
2006-06-28 07:42:57
In my last journal entry I forgot something. I've searched with Google for Mirai, one of my favourite QM charas, the guard of the holy tomb, to find a better pic of her than on the QM fansites. The search gave my too many results which wherent' related to QM. I decided to extend the search criteria with "Yayoi Yukino", since "Queen Millenia" had brought me to the sites I already knew. 3/4 of the results I got were porn sites, because one Japanese pornstar obviously is named Yayoi Yukino and another one has Mirai as first name.
The most confusing thing about this was that Google told me that it had removed one link for legal reasons. A link pointed to the legal reason. It named the section of a German law and said: "pornography". That's a real bad joke, considering that Google linked me to dozens porn sites. I wonder after which criteria is decided which porn sites are linked and which not. Somehow I believe it's money.
