JOURNAL: Anime_AJ (Eijie Ashiyama)

  • Not Looking for Attention 2008-09-25 01:07:59 In my last journal entry I expressed my anxiety and frustration with many of the amv creators around here. Well, it was not an attempt at getting attention or pity. I'm not like that and I'm certainly not that kind of person. However, I would like to deeply thank all those who have come forward and contacted me urging me to continue my amv hobby and not give up. Truly inspirational. I am grateful to find such kindness in place where my first year and a half was full of failed attempts to appease viewers that felt I was not trying hard enough.

Well, I try hard every time I work on an amv. And I'm glad there are more than just some who see that and feel the same about amv-making as I do. I do not intend to quit amv-making and to as a thank you to all who have recently given their support I would like to announce that I have begun formulating ideas for a new amv. Not sure when I'll get around to it, but ideas are floating around now and work on the next project could start at any time.

Any and all who view my journal, or watch my amvs, please keep in touch so I know who's videos to start watching as well. Best of luck to all and hope to hear from ya again real soon. Peace!
  • Last Chance 2008-09-06 15:40:31 Well, my latest amv didn't go over so well (for some strange reason). Even when I figured out why/what was causing it to be 1 second off, it still got low ratings. I wasn't going for anything fancy-shmancy as some (wanna/would-be artist) people might. I made "Deliverance" for fun, though I seriously tried to do a good action-esque video. There was no rhyme or reason by the time I finished and I was satisfied with that. I enjoyed making the vid and trying my best to improve my video/music timing. I'm not an extravagant amv creator. I like things simple.

This is suppose to be a fan-based community, but I feel as though this is some sort of art school where only the elite are well-to-do and get points for their "skill" and little guys like me barely get noticed for making a video just because they are a fan of the particular anime they use for their amvs. I'm not saying those awesome amv creators aren't fans. They wouldn't be doing this sorta thing if they weren't. But its not fair to be ridiculed, looked down upon, given low ratings, and poor comments just because other people make an amv the way they want to (that they feel best exemplifies their love for that anime and/or song)!

So this is me saying "I've had it!" This is a hobby that I have enjoyed for over six years. I've gotten a lot better compared to when I first started, but I'm not striving to be number one! I just wanna make videos to my favorite anime and at least receive recognition for trying to show how much I like a particular show or movie - or song! I also don't have a lot of time on my hands, as I have to work for a living. My last amv took me eight months to make (because of time constraints) and I don't think I'll have another amv made any time soon.

That is why I'm officially ending my career-hobby of amv creating. I've had enough of the self-righteous bullshit of the "elite" amv creators and I'm through with trying to improve myself to no end with no genuine appreciation for being an otaku! There are other priorities in my life and though I love anime and buy it on a regular basis, I just can't find enough time to continue making amvs. I'll continue watching them and giving ratings and opinions, but I'm done as a creator for a while. And you can bet your bottom dollar I'll be watching more rookie amvs.

So, until I announce my next amv (whenever that'll be), this is [animeAJ] saying farewell and closing the doors to his one-man studio [animeAJ Productions] - "Its been fun but I'm not here to impress anyone except myself."
  • Still Here 2008-09-03 15:08:06 Okay, so I've recently finished my latest and newest AMV. I also discovered why all my amvs since Fall 2006 have been slightly off with their sync/timing. Well, I have corrected the issue with my newest video after discovering the cause. This vid should be the way I intended it to be. I just can't believe all my last videos are off (which explains a few things).
  • no more? 2008-06-09 16:26:41 Not sure what I'm doing this year. I'm six months into 2008 and I have yet to finish my first vid of the year. Next month my dot-com amv site, AnimeAJ.com, will be up for renewal. Since I haven't done any updates or music videos since last December, I'm not sure I want to pay $50 for another year. I think, since I've been preoccupied with life, and other online activities, I will let this be the end of my website project. I can't post my last vid here cause it wasn't even put to anime, but I think I've hit the end of the road in my amv-making sprint. If I wanna get better, I have to devote more time to spending more time working on my vids. I will have a new video this year, just not sure when. So far, I've been working on redoing it all together and use more than one anime to make it with. If I had another hard drive, I wouldn't be so pressed for space to do more of those kinds of amvs, or amvs period.
  • Hiatus 2008-02-27 07:47:31 This year I planned on not making a new amv in January. However, I had not planned on going through all of February, and only recently have I gotten the creative juices flowing (as well as the time needed) to sit down and work on my next production. I'm sure it'll be a treat.

So anyway, this year I'll be starting Fresh! Lots of new music (mostly metal) and some anime I have never worked with before. I have one more remake in store, but that'll wait till later. Anyway, my next video will be to Elfen Lied. A very bloody series really, which is why I strayed away from it until a year ago when a friend from college got it for Christmas. So I sat down and watched it with him and the story was better than I had expected.

Like most of my videos, this one will be themed and I intend to portray the story of the series through the lyrics of the music I'll be using. I hope to have it finished within the first week of March. Here's hoping...

Also, because I didn't update my site at the beginning of the year, I've finally done so after getting around to it. I can be so lazy sometimes. If you haven't already, go check out my last video of 2007: "Today This Ends".
