Evandragula: 200 Downloads!
2005-09-28 03:07:15
Now I've been keeping a close eye on how many downloads I get for my AMVs. Today my vid "Evandragula" has received over 250 downloads, including the widescreen version, though the original format has over 200 downloads alone! I'm so excited. If this comes through as "for real" then I'd like to send out a warm, heart-felt thank you to all my fellow AMV enthusiasts! All I ask now is that I get some more opinions. I think its awesome that I've gotten so many downloads for just one vid alone. Well, that's it.

History Lesson 101
2005-09-26 16:34:06
Hope everyone had a good weekend! I know my weekend was "O.K." though it was a forlorn one at best. I went with my father up to the state of my birth, Wisconsin, where I helped members of my family help my dad's biological mother and stepfather move out of his family farm/ranch. Its a not-so-big piece of not too far from a small town called Oakdale. I spent much of my childhood there on that farm. My dad's stepfather, my grandfather, owned that land for a long, long time. He mainly grew crops there and on occassional raised livestock, though I never saw anything other than pigs there. He had a few tractors that he would let me ride with him on when working the land and there was a small box pit near the edge of the field where I would play. I hadn't been there in years, and while helping box up stuff and haul it out of the house, the garage, the tractor shed, and the storage shed, I got to do a lot of reminiscing. I didn't live in Wisconsin very much, about 4 years worth (two after I was born and then I lived there for 3rd and 4th grade). But my dad would drive my immediate family up to my grandparent's place for the holidays. His sister and brothers, and their families, would all gather there as well. So it was like a family reunion every year. This time around most of the family came to help, some of my cousins and one of my uncles couldn't make it, so I was able to catch up with family that still lives in that state. Weird thing about Oakdale is that though I've not spent quite as much time there compared to where I lived the longest (Oklahoma - 8yrs) I know the place like the back of my hand. And it was very sad for me to have to say goodbye to the ranch-style house I've know all my life. I'm big on family, and I love history, I've got a lot of childhood memories there and it was hard letting go.
Speaking of "letting go" I should go ahead and finish this. Another chapter in my life: closed. Perhaps it was the start of a new one. Or was this just a prologue to an entirely new story? "Well, here's to the land, to the house, and to my family. Forever in my heart."

Much Ado About Nothing
2005-09-22 12:32:41
Great News! I've uploaded two of my newest vids. Finally. I now have broadband internet again so expect to see two more amvs available some real soon as well. On a side note I'd like to add that my site is undergoing a makeover, even though initial construction had been completed since my move from my old host to my current one. Oh, well, more work for me! ^_^
I had high hopes for "For Heartbroken Eyes Only" and so far its been rated 3.33 out of 3 stars. So obviously I haven't done a whole lot better. But hey, at least my first star was a 4! And I guess not many liked "Don't Turn Away" cause its got 2.67 out of 2 stars. Shame. Though I didn't expect much from that one. I don't have too high an expectation for my next available amv. If I'm lucky it might get a 3.0 rating. Yet, my hopes are even higher with the last vid I'll be uploading this coming week. It'll be a blast!

Making Up For Lost Time
2005-09-11 07:12:58
Well, hello again all my AMV bretheren! My insanity continues (which explains why I've been awake all night, sitting at my desktop). Well, like my entry title says, I've been making up for lost time. And so, I would like to present my latest AMV(s):
"Don't Turn Away" (a sort-of follow-up to my first FLCL amv) and "Unleash The Fury" (my second Fatal Fury amv). First time I've completed two amvs in one sitting. Now that they are finished I will upload them as soon as I can (still using dial-up). If they aren't up sometime this week then expect to see them by the end of the month (which is when I expect to have broadband).
So, there you have it. Until next time!

Enter: Naruto Uzumaki
2005-09-10 23:13:23
Finally, the day has arrived. Naruto has arrived in America (little bastard finally got his greencard). I'm sure everyone already knows that today, September 10, 2005, one of the most popular anime shows in Japan premieres on Cartoon Network's anime line-up "Toonami" at 9/8central in ENGLISH! That's right. They showed the first two episodes tonight, and even had an encore presentation. So what does that mean for all you "underground" anime fans? Well, it means you'll be able to buy the show in English instead of downloading the episodes, unless you're the kind of Otaku that enjoys reading subtitles. Nothing wrong with that, but I prefer both worlds. And I ain't saying its wrong to download the latest episode if ya wanna see it before it comes out in English (though I do think pirating should stop).
Anyway, off my soapbox now and back to what I intended to say. Toonami's version of "Naruto" wasn't bad. Its not as great as the original Japanese version, either. But it wasn't bad! And like most anime that came to the U.S. before it, Naruto was "cleaned" up. Yeah, there's no blood where there should be and any foul/vulgar language you find in Japanese has been removed. This ain't no kiddy show! For crying out loud. This is Naruto I'm talking about here! So far, though, the English version looks promising. If I'm right, when they bring the show out on DVD in the States, they'll probably have both the edited and unedited versions, if not the unedited by itself. That would be nice. (still wondering when and how they'll be releasing the show; considering how lengthy it is)
I must say that the voices they chose for most of the characters fit nicely. And like many I think they could've done a smidge better. Naruto sounded like he had phlegm in his throat (you know, the really thick mucus/snot you get when you're sick). The 3rd Hokage coulda sounded a lot older (though that can be overlooked since he dies later; hey, I'm just speaking the truth). Hinata (a personal fave) was alright. She sounded shy, yet not too shy. I'm not too sure about Sakura cause she only had two lines in Episode 1. Ino was fine. Shikamaru definitely needs to sound older, to reflect his maturity since he's like smarter than everyone else. Iruka was alright, and during I got to hear Kakashi's voice when they cut to commercial and showed a scene from a later episode. I expected him to sound a bit deeper, but I think they chose a good voice for him. Konohamaru and his sensei (I can never remember the guy's name) sounded alright as well. And that's it. So now that I've shared my little thoughts its time for me to go back to work on my AMVs! Sayonara!
