My dreams are mking less and less sense
2007-03-25 08:22:14
Captain's log, stardate 2007.084: I know dreams aren't supposed to make much (if any sense), but lately, my dreams have been making less and less sense, even for them. Take the dream I just woke up from, for example. It was like a combination of Richie Rich and some other rich kid movie (which is strange, because Richie Rich was/is the only rich kid movie I can recall seeing, but I digress). Anyway, the only details I can recall are that the mother in the film was strangely hot (by, hot, I mean she had big boobs) and that there were possibly 2 villians in the movie. The female villian/apparent bad guy looked like Jeri Ryan, and the male villian (who was part of the reason I'm making this log entry in the first place) looked like Ivan Ooze from the first Power Rangers movie, but he sounded like Chancellor Gorkon from Star Trek VI! How crazy is that?!

That gave me a little bit of a scare
2007-03-22 20:36:29
Captain's log, stardate 2007.081: Yesterday, just as I made the left turn onto the street of my subdivision, the check engine light came on in the Infiniti, naturally sending me into a bit of a panic. After I got home and waited a few hours for the engine to cool down, I checked the oil, since it's been a while since the oil was changed in the car. To my shock, the oil was below the L mark on the dipstick. Not a good thing. However, we had some oil sitting in the garage, and adding that to the car brought the oil level above the L mark, albeit just barely. Since I was pretty sure that a DTC had been set, I decided to get the Infiniti in the shop the next day.
Fast forward to today. When I started the car this morning, the check engine light was still on, which all but confirmed my suspicion about a DTC being set. After my Fuels class, I asked Chris, the shop service manager, for and received permission to bring the car into the shop and hook up one of the Snap-On scanners we have there so I could confirm my assumption. After hooking up the scanner and fiddling with it for about 10 minutes or so, Chris came over and gave me a hand, since I hadn't made much progress. After directing me to switch the scanner to OBDII Generic mode, we found that indeed, a DTC was present; code P1447, to be exact. However, when I looked it up on Alldata, I found that it had nothing to do with the oil system. It turned out that P1447 pertained to the evaporative emission control system. Apparently, a part of that system has malfunctioned, although I'm not sure which part as yet, and a somewhat thorough underhood inspection didn't reveal anything out of the ordinary. The low oil level had nothing to do with it, although thats not to say catching it was a bad thing. After I got home from JJC, I fished around in the spare change jar I keep on my bedside table and scrounged up enough money to buy a quart of Pennzoil 5W-30 from Thorntons to put in the engine.
I'm not sure when I'll be able to afford to have this DTC thoroughly investigated, but it won't be anytime within the next couple of weeks, I know that much.

Acen update, plus I hate on huge wheels
2007-03-17 11:32:06
Captain's log, stardate 2007.076: I should be registered for Acen by tomorrow, which will mean one less thing for me to worry about in the coming weeks. I also have a pretty good idea of what I'm going to need to make my costume.
Moving on, I saw a Saturn with dubs on it yesterday. One of the stupidest things I've seen in a while. Honestly, why do people put those things on cars? More often than not, the car was never designed to have wheels over 15 or 16 inches in diameter fitted to it. They ruin suspension components and degrade ride quality. Then again, that means more work for technicians like me, so I suppose there's a small upside to it, lol.

Mild rant
2007-03-05 13:10:16
Captain's log, stardate 2007.064: I need a job. Not just so I can help my parents pay the bills, but so I can save up for Acen and, down the road, buy a project car. Just about everybody in the automotive program at school that I talk to has at least one project car, so I can't help but feel that I'm missing out.

What in the name of James T. Kirk?!

Captain's log, stardate 2007.053: I lost a little bit of faith in humanity when I saw this on 4chan:

For the record, I have never been, and probably never will be, a religious man. That is to say, I did find this funny. However, blowing the damn things up...! WTF, guys. WTF.
