JOURNAL: Captain Spadaro (Michael Spadaro)

  • 2005-10-17 17:23:20 Captain's log, stardate 2005.290: Well, I've started writing my Star Trek/NGE crossover fic. I know the road ahead is a long and difficult one, but I'm prepared to traverse it. However, if I could get SOMEONE to do "concept art" (that's what I'm calling it), that would make things better.

On a completely different topic, I have been thinking about swearing off trying to pursue a relationship with a member of the opposite sex (at least until I'm out of South), as my luck is horrible and being a nice guy doesn't get you squat these days.
  • 2005-10-13 18:24:36 Captain's log, stardate 2005.286: We finished Of Mice and Men in English on Tuesday, so now we have to write a 5-paragraph essay on it. God, I HATE that book. I'm actually debating whether to write what I think they want, or to go off on a tangent about...something.
  • Gas Prices 2005-09-22 18:14:57 Captain's log, stardate 2005.265: I was watching "The O'Reilly Factor" last night, and Bill said that OPEC currently charges $58 a barrel. When I heard that, something went off in my head. If OPEC charges $58 a barrel, how come the price of oil on the stock exchanges in New York is hovering around $66-$67-$68 a barrel? That's a price difference of up to $10, and it makes no sense (to me). Also, Bill said, according to a study done by University of Wisconsin economist Don Nichols, for gas prices to be at $3 a gallon, oil would have to cost $95 a barrel. Yet it doesn't. Now, I'm no economist, but aren't oil prices PARTLY set by supply? And, when you take those prices into account, it leads me to at least 3 conclusions: 1. O'Reilly got his numbers wrong (which I doubt, because he hates false reporting), 2. There's more crude in the ground than they say there is, and 3. If it IS true that prices are being gouged (not just recently, but for the last few months, or, more disturbingly, for YEARS), then this could be a HUGE scandal. Bigger than all the corporate accounting scandals put together. The implications are...striking.
  • 2005-09-18 02:28:32 Captain's log, stardate 2005.261: I'm getting the impression that my sister and her friends are planning one, possibly more, senior pranks. They were discussing burning the lanyards we're issued at school (for ID purposes).
  • weasels are everywhere and must be stopped 2005-09-15 00:10:24 Captain's log, stardate 2005.257: The debate about the words "under God" in the Pledge has finally gone too far. I just heard about the ruling in California. They don't MAKE you say the Pledge; they DO make you stand and keep your god-damn mouth shut out of freakin' respect for the flag and the country, respect which the judge who made the ruling apparently seems to LACK!!!!
