Power Outage...
2003-08-15 23:06:57
Well, how about that? 24 hours without power of any sort. It was actually a lot of fun! ^_^ (as you can see, I'm taking advatage of actually having electricity)
I baked a nice big cake for my mother yesterday afternoon (her birthday was the day before, but I was gone on that trip to Québec). Once I finished, the power just went out (4:15pm). Talk about luck! Anyways, I sort of just hung around, thinking what should I do. So I got out a radio and heard that from Ney York to Ottawa, there was no power. I was so surprised!
So my grandparents and cousins came over for dinner (we have a barbeque, so it's much easier to do all the cooking in one place). I had earlier run into my neighbours in the front yard, and told them not to be shy and come over for a swim if they were hot without air conditionning (they were off to have dinner at another neighbour's house). Next thing you know, both families came over! We had so many people over! And guess where I was? At a friend's house! I got invited to play cards, so I left my crowded house to play cards by candle light. I got home at midnight, and the was amazed by how the night was so calm. I even got to see Mars! (the big bright red star in the sky)
The roads are pretty crazy. People are supposed to treart all intersections are 4-way stop signs, but you're always going to get those people who just like to run the stop signs. -_- When my friend was driving me home, we almost nailed some other driver because he went right through the light.
My room is sooooo dark without electricity. Since it's in the basement, with no windows, the only thing giving me a little light were all those red little lights on the tv, power bars and stereo system. It was really weird, and kinda mind bogeling.
Today was just a day where we took it easy. We swam, had lots of people over, cooled in the basement, and played games outside (board games or card games). It was fun. I also still had my portable CD player, so I was fine. ^_^
Power came back around 5:00pm. They said that we were still going to loose power though, sort of like temporary blackouts. You know, to rotate power to different parts of the region, because not everything is back up and running. But we haven't lost anything yet, so it could happen any minute now... 0_0 lol Oh well, it was a fun two days. ^_^

Please, I just want to sleep...
2003-08-14 11:14:04
I got back at 1:30am last night (this morning). We weren't planning to be back so soon, but hey, we had done what we wanted to do. And who says you shouldn't drive 1100 km in one day? It's only about 10 hours or something... -_- And to think, I didn't even get to sleep until 4:00am after that. -_- sigh...
I'm gone for a bit, and about 5 new banners are voted in?!?! Jeez, couldn't wait to get me out of your hair huh.
Argh... I missed my mom birthday (yesterday), and I feel awful about it, but my dad just told me we have to go out and get her her present now. Man, I feel like a living wreck. I'll be back later. -_-

I'll be gone for a week this time...
2003-08-09 22:30:57
1) I'm going to Québec (again) to visit relatives (again). This time on my father's side (and with only my father).
2) All this time that I thought I was leading my own life, I've been wrong. I don't control my life, everyone else seems to...
3) I feel so (insert bad word)ing unworthy of living the way I do. I don't deserve kindness. Sometimes I just want something terrbile to happen to me... to cause me pain.
I just watched the 2nd OVA of Kenshin. In other words, Samurai X: Betrayal. I just love that animé series. I've never seen the television series, but I've read about it. And I'm quite amazed that everything follows a timeline. Like how the series is 10 years after the OVAs I just watched. And that in the OVAs after the series, there's something that happens that has to do with the first OVAs (in other words, mixing the first OVAs and the television series!). I'm glad, because I hate it when a series is made, then another one, but the two don't have much to do with eachother except share the same main character. -_-
I also think it's the OVAs that have made me so depressed. This whole samurai life, and losing your love, and all the killing. There was just something about the story that made me sit on the edge of my seat, and when it came to the end, I loved it, but felt a great sadness in my heart. I wish with all my heart I could share his pain, just to be able to make it that much easier on him...
Anyways, I shouldn't drag on, I'm leaving early tomorrow, so I need to get packing. I hope everyone stays well, and enjoy your summer. Goodnight, and may you all have pleasant dreams...

A day spent in downtown Toronto...
2003-08-08 23:02:29
Today was a pretty good day. I spent all of it (except for cutting the grass this morning -_-) downtown. ^_^ I went shopping, more shopping and then went to Medieval Times for dinner.
So this morning, we planned to go downtown for the day. I always have to cut the grass on Friday, so today I had to do it in the morning. Hope I didn't wake too many people up at 8:30am. lol I showered and then we were off. It doesn't take too long to get down there, so we had lots of time to enjoy ourselves.
We (my mom, my brother and I) spent most of our time at the Eaton's centre. It's a big mall, 5 floors. ^_^ But evertually we got bored of it. So we walked around outside. Lots of people all around us. Next I found out that there were some underground paths, leading from each big business building to the other, so we got to explore the whole "underground Toronto". It was really cool.
We still had some time to burn, so we went back to the mall. I went to this Indigo book store, and they had quite a bit of graphic novels. I wanted to get one, but you know me, whenever it comes to spending money on myself, I'm a penny pincher. -_- Eventually I caved and bought the 2nd volume of Kare Kano. I wanted the 1st, but they didn't have it! So instead of listening to my senses and waiting for the 1st, I just went ahead and bought the 2nd. Such a weak mind. -_-
Then we went to Medieval Times. Great place! I even saw a friend of mine from my soccer team. What a coincidence! Unfortunetaly they seemed to have timed everything poorly, so we had to wait outside the main arena for a long time. We thought we would get to eat at 7:00pm, well we didn't sit down before 8:00pm! Oh well, not much we could do. People made jokes that we were being treated like commoners, but that wasn't true. I guess people were just tired of standing and waiting.
I was from the Blue kingdom, and guess what knight won? You guessed it, Blue! Talk about lucky! I won't explain the whole thing, but what they did was make it seem like Blue was the loser. So it was a shock to see him at the end fight the bad guy, and win too! ^_^ Food was good, and the show was awesome.
Want to know the biggest surprise? There were "special" guests there, so you could say my luck was just on fire today. Because they were... all the contestants from the Miss Canada and Miss Teen Canada pagents! Just imagine 50 beautiful girls, all your age, crowding through the halls, just to see the same show as yourself. They even had all of their sashes on, so you could tell where they came from! 0_0
Well, that was my day. It's going to end by checking my e-mail. Ya, that sounds exciting. lol -_-

To do things for others, or youself...
2003-08-07 22:40:11
Wow, your entries keep getting smaller and smaller Rachel! lol ~_^
Why is it whenever there's something wrong on a computer, it's the fault of Kevin and all the "stuff" (AMVs) he downloads? I seemed to get blamed for a lot of the bugs that occur on our network at home. Whether it's a slow computer, or something freezing up. But lets ponder this for a second... my computer is the only one with no problems! -_- Great, I bet I just jinxed it.
My dad wants to go travelling all of next week. He asked if I wanted to go, so I decided to join him. I really don't care if I go or not. Either way, it makes no big difference to me. And that's the thing that really bugs him. There's not enough things that I "jump up and down" about, so he always keeps asking me if I "want" to do it.
Listen, I don't do things because I "want" to do them, I do things because other people want me to do it. He said that I do too much to make other people happy, and I think I do too little. Go figure that out. -_-
