Some sort of joke...
2004-04-28 23:59:48
Yikes!!! What's with all the banners? Everyone has gotten replaced with REAL ads. Weird...
I just finished a 1000 word essay in just over an hour. It's awful, but luckily I only needed teh rough draft done for tomorrow.
"Now and Then, Here and There" just arrived at the store I got it shipped to, I now I get to go buy it! ^_^
I'm being quick because I want to post this entry just to check if anyone else is having trouble with the banners. Just incase you wanted to know. lol
Leafs won!!! Awesome game! Habs lost last night though. And I was about to freak out. I almost punched a hole in the wall, but luckily I settled on screaming my lungs out. lol ~_^

An adventure it was...
2004-04-27 18:50:16
Giving blood is quite the experience. So many many steps in the procedure just to make sure your blood is safe.
We left our school at about 10:00am. There was about 20 of us, all classmates of mine at one point in time. The clinic was being held at another high school, one with uniforms. So we stuck out a bit. Not to mention that school is really not friendly. So many drug and fight problems, it's scary. All this at a Catholic high school! o_0
Anyways, we got there and we were the first ones. We all got in line, and had to read a little booklet about safely. Next we had to show them out identification and check how healthy our blood was. The next step was to fill out this questionnair while driking plenty of "orange drink". Something about needing to keep hydrated. Once filled out, we had to complete another survey, only this time while being interviewed (I guess to make sure you're answering truthfully). Some of the questions were getting pretty personal. "Have you had sex with anyone born before 1977 within the last 6 moths?" "Have you had sex with a guy who's had sex with a guy who's taken drugs within the last 3 months?" And so on...
I got to have some fun with my nurse. I kept answering "no" in a "You know none of these apply to me" kind of way. So eventually she just laughed and said "I guess the rest of these don't apply to you", but we did them anyways just incase. At the end, people had to get their blood pressure and pulse checked. Unfortunately, one of my friend's was too nervous and she never got her pulse down far enough, so she wasn't allowed to donate.
Now this is where you finally get you blood drained out. They lie you on this pretty high bed. They go over the procedure with you, and make sure you're alright with it. Then they clean you arm with alcohol and set everything up. Next they try and find an appropraite vain to use. For some people, it's harder to find than others. And here's the big climax... The needle goes in!!! It stings a bit. It's worse for those who had to have it taken out and re put back in to find the vain. -_-
You need to keep you hand moving (of the arm with the needle) to make sure the blood continues to flow. This procedure takes anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes. Unless your name is Kevin and it takes you 25 minutes!!!
My blood seemed to come out very slowly. I wasn't sure how long it had been , but I knew it was a long time. At one point, the nurse who had gotten me ready said "Hey, he's been going for 20 minutes, should't we take him out now?". But the other guy responded "No, the blood is still slowly coming out, we can finish it". How comforting for me to hear that that I still had to keep going. -_-
Once done, there were plenty of bagels, cookies and juice to inhale. We all chatted it up and talked about how it was. While I was lying down, I had noticed a few of my friends having trouble. One guy nearly passed out after he was done. He sat up (first timers have to rest 10 minutes before getting up), but got dizzy and had to lie back down several times. A few of the girls looked really weak, and one even vomited outside. Unfortunately, there were 3 people in our group who were rejected. The one girl with too quick a pulse, a guy who had a cough, and another girl who's reason I never caught. It's tough luck, but they reminded us not to feel discouraged if we got rejected, because it's only a safety requirement that needs to be met. ^_^
The rest of my day was boring. I got to dive in the mud playing football in gym, but luckily stayed relatively clean. I missed computers and math because of the clinic. And in english we watched up to act 3 scene 3 in Hamlet. Some of my friends who went to the clinic with me left school early because they felt weak. It's understandable, but I have to admit that I've felt like my usual self all day. o_0

The curse of Kare Kano...
2004-04-26 22:14:37
[shakes his fist] <- from now on I'll use square brackets instead of using double colons. -> ::
Like I was saying...
[shakes fist] Everytime I read Kare Kano, I make a whole new objective in life on who to be. Which is bad, because this one consists of waiting around until I find that perfect someone. Bad thoughts! lol
My friend bought the third volume of Kare Kano yesterday, so she let me borrow it today. Yes, I do own the DVD set, but it is nice to sit down and read it once in awhile, since it's a much slower pace.
Tomorrow I'm giving blood for the very first time. This should be quite an adventure. ^_^
My marks should be dropping. Yet I still lack the enthusiasm to work harder and fix my grades. What would Yukino do... She would study constantly and do awesome. I wish I had that kind of inspiration...

The rain that brings the cold...
2004-04-25 16:00:21
Brrr... It's freezing outside. Actually, I think just above the freezing point. I suppose that's Spring Time for you.
I just saw Tokyo Godfathers. It reminds me a lot o Millenium Actress. I guess that's to be assumed when they share the same director (or something like that). The animation style is similar, not to mention "constant chase" element in the story. The main differences are that it has a happy ending, and there's a bit more humour opposed to the tragic moments. In the end, it was definitely enjoyable.
Last night I went to my friend's birthday party. Nothing too drastic happened. We just hung around, watched "Cheaper by the Dozen" (an average comedy) and chatted. That's about it.
I think I'm going to have to start working out again. I stopped a few months ago. Unfortunately I don't think my knucles have yet recovered. It's not that I feel weaker, but I just don't feel in top physical form. lol Like I'll ever be that. You know what, I think it has more to do that I'm not testing myself anymore. I like testing the limits that my body can take. I've just been too lazy though...
Prom? Don't even talk to me about it. I've been very hesistant on the subject. If I sit around watching for the "right" opportunity, my one chance will just pass me by. I've got to start taking some initiative.

The discovery of Kill Bill...
2004-04-24 00:43:43
I just saw Kill Bill: Volume 1 for the first time tonight. Well, at the very least, I can say it's original. o_0
It was very well done, but there were too many parts where I felt I was going to get bored out of my mind. I think it was because of all the hype prior to me watching it. Everyone kept saying what an action packed film it was. So that's what I expected. And that meant I wasn't prepared for all the slow detailed scenes. In a way, it remind me a lot of Samurai Jack, because they both have plenty of action, but share a wealth of slow sequences only meant to set the mood. I'm sure if I watch the movie again, I'll appreaciate it more because I won't have all the critiques and great reviews on my mind.
And what about that whole animated bit?!?! Is it just me, or did everyone neglect to mention that in their opinions and reviews? Of all the people I know who've seen it, not one mentionned to me when I asked them what the movie was like. Definitely caught me by surprise. 0_0
I have a birthday party to go to tomorrow night. Hmmm... I don't have a birthday present yet though. Looks like tomorrow will be spent at the shopping malls. This might be a challenge. lol
As usual, I'm at a loss for words. Bah, I guess this is goodnight. Enjoy the rest of your evening. ^_^
