Halloween, what a way to end a busy week
2002-10-31 21:55:13
It's been so long since I've written in here. I feel so bad about this. But this week I don't mind so much that I haven't done it, since I have a few reasons. Everyday I've done something that I normally don't do, so my daily schedule is all messed up.
Monday, the start of the week that just seems to be dragging on. This was the day I tutored my friend. He's in the 9th grade. Normally this is done on Thursday, but he had a test on Tuesday, so studying after the test would have been pretty pointless. I tutor him in Math. I've been doing well in Math lately, but he's been having trouble. But I'm confident he was able to grasp the basic concepts in time for his test. Hope he did well ^_^.
Tuesday would have been regular, but I had hockey that night. Most of my hockey games during the week are on Wednesday, so a Tuesday game was weird. And it was at 8:30pm, the absolute worst time. I leave at 7:45pm to the rink, and get back by 10:00pm. This is the time I TRY to go to bed by. It hasn't worked recently, as you can tell by the time I'm writting this. If the game was later, I would get more time at home, and only dip into my sleeping time, which I don't really mind. So, now I do what little homework I have been getting after school, have dinner and go to hockey. Talk about tiring.
Wednesday, my so called project day. I have a French project due in about 3 weeks. We've had forever to work on it, so my group and I decided to get together at my house to work on it. That didn't go so well. We arrived after school and I knew both of them could only stay for about 2 and a half hours. Well, we got side tracked by television, GameCube, and playing pool. By time we decided to work, we noticed all we could use was the internet for research. The problem with this was that we had practically sucked the internet dry of info at school, so doing it at my house would not have made a difference. So, we just divided up the work and decided to wrk on that individualy. I didn't really care, I had a hunch that not much would happen.
Thursday, that extra special day, Halloween. No, I don't go out anymore. Too bad, because there aren't a lot of kids that go out these days. But the fact that it was wet from some mild precipitation earlier and that it's starting to get pretty cold outside may have been some factors in the absence of many trick-or-treaters. Anyways, right after school, i had a dentist appointment. Yes, I know what you're thinking, on Halloween! Well, it was out of my control. Didn't make a difference thought, my teeth are fine, so they didn't do anything really to them, except for check and clean them. After that, I got home, and had to make some last minute decoration changes and was ready to give out candy. Since this ia my first year not going, I was supposed to give it out, but my father ended up doing it. He always teases me that way. He tells me I have to do someting, so I prepare and, depends on what it is, worry. Once the time comes, he says things like it's fine, he'll do it, or that he was just joking. Well, after all the time I spent, I would almost rather do what I was supposed to do! Oh, well. The Trick-or-Treaters have retired for thr night, and we have lots of candy left over. ^_^
Yes, I know I said Halloween ends this week, but I still have to face tomorrow. But it's Friday. The Friday after Halloween, none the less, so we should have a pretty easy dayy tomorrow at school. On the agenda tomorrow, I get to go to the Just for Laughs comedy road show! They're touring all over Canada, and right now, they're here in Toronto. I love Just for Laughs, and pretty much all comedy like that. Like Royal Canadian Air Farce, the Red Green Show and This Hour has 22 Minutes. Great shows on CBC. So, I need to leave tomorrow for this at 5:00pm, this makes anything to plan for, impossible. Well, we all have to make some sacrifices. One of these sacrifices are, my daily workouts. We have one of those home gyms in the basement (where my room is ^_^). I use it everyday for about 40mins. I normally do it after school, but this week, I've done it once after school. The rest of the time was at night, just like tonight. I hope I can get back to my regular schedule next week, I think I've had enough of this. ^_^

Must learn to blink
2002-10-20 10:29:54
Damn, just read a few journal entries by MCWagner. That took me a good while. It was just amazing! So much information, so little room. Imagine proof reading! MCWagner actually had to use 2 journal entries for one. One just didn't hold enough information. When it comes to journals, this guy is already a legend. ^_^
My hands are so cold. Moving my room into the basement was fine, except, my hands get cold easily. My body remains nice and warm, but my hands freeze while typing. Writing journals and long posts prove difficult to accomplish. I don't know how to fix this though. Hopefully I'll think of something soon, or my fingers will fall off.
I need to buy another GameCube game. I've almost gotten everything in Super Smash Bros. Melee, but it's getting tiresome now. I make it to Giga Bowser or Crazy Hand, and then they kill me so easily. I practically go through4 lives against each. I could probably beat them if I use continues, but I find that's sort of cheap. So if I lose, I re-start from the beginning, just to lose again. :( I'm planning on geting Soul Calibur 2 when it comes out. Should be soon. ^_^
You know how I saiad all of our networking was done, well... I was wrong. Since we have 2 networks at home, one using a hub, and one through the phoneline, we decided to go with only the hub one. All that work on getting the phoneline connection working... out the window :(. Anyways, we went to Future Shop and bought all these nice long cables, some more ethernet cards and an 8 port hub. (I'm getting the feeling like I've wrote this before... probably just on the forum). Anyways, some computers got up so easily, others, like my own and my brother's, took aroun 3 hours a piece. My took so long, because the card was not compatible with Windows ME. It works with 95, 98, 2000, NT, and XP. But now ME. -_- Oh well, I changed it with a card from another computer, and it worked, after we had to copy some Uninstall files for Wingate back to my computer, since they mysteriously disappeared. -_- After all that, I got to spend a nice amount of time last night (technically this morning ^_^), on my fast internet. I'm so happy.
I want to get the Evangelion DVD Box set real soon, but I can't get a hold of my friend who said he could get it for me. I haven't heard from him in awhile, so I'm getting curious. I have D&R and EoE, but I haven't even seen the whole series yet. I'm feeling strained about the whole thing. Hopefully I can get a hold of him soon, this way I can order it and it may soon be mine.
See ya, Kevin

One great day!
2002-10-18 18:30:12
Today has been a pretty good day that I've ever had, so far. Well, it's been awhile since I've had a bit of good news, so I definitely needed a day like today. ^_^ Now that I think about it, practically everthing has been great. I'll start from the beginning. First, I woke up today, on time! I was late yesterday, so being up at the regular time of 6:30am was perfect. Then, at school, I had Computer science class (AKA: programming). I understood almost everything! I was answering questions and helping my friends with their questions. Normally I'm really confused, but not today. Then I got to hear a friend of mine sing the Canadian national anthem. It was genie day (for the grade nines, one of those make the new comers feel welcome) and my brother got a friend of ours as his genie. One of his wishes was for our friend to sing O Canada on the announcements! He wasn't all bad.
After that, I worked on my Anime info. program during the most of lunch. I rather enjoyed that. Although a friend of mine came in and bugged me since I've been doing that instead of playing cards in the caf. with them. I just feel that after an entire period of cards, I've wasted a good chunk of what could have been a preductive time period. Anyways, the program is coming along. I'm using Visual Basic 6.0 and what it's going to have is some anime titles, pics and character information. It's been fun. ^_^ Well... I gotta eat sometime during my lunch period, so near the end, I went down to the cafeteria. They had some Panzerotties! So I got a Panzerotti deal, they had no canned pop though, so I had to settle with a juice box of apple juice. Can't win them all. Once finished, I had French class. We watched Joan of Arc for the period. We had been watching it previous classes, so we finished it today. With some time to spare, we caught some scenes from The Messenger. Same plot and idea, but for mature audiences. The whole story kinda got to me. Sniff!
Anyways, I Math after that. You could say it was the one subject that wasn't perfect. It wasn't bad, just not perfect. We ended up doing some review of all the stuff we've been doing in the past few days, and combined it all into one. So, we're working on Functions right now. Inverse functions, stretches of functions, the whole bit. Well, the review ended up making me confused about what I already knew. Not very good, huh. So I decided to forget what I learned in that class, and continue my own way. Now i understand it all. ^_^ After Math, I had English. We had a spelling test and i think I actually got everything right! Won't find out until we get them back. Later we continued with Macbeth and did some work on our Independent novels. So, that was the school portion. Then I got home.
Once home, I watched then of an episode of Digimon, Zoids and a bit of Cubix. Weird show. Then I took my dog for a nice walk. After that, I was determined to fix my computer. I reloaded the setup for the network card, reloaded the network software and it all clicked! After hours the night before, I had accomplished it in less than an hour. I was so proud of myself. ^_^ Then I got the new version of Windows Media Player (I think 9.0 Beta or something), using my working internet! I couldn't do this before, since it's for 98 SE, Me, and 2000, and I only had 98. But it works now! And to wrap it all up, the forum here works! I couldn't believe it. I went to go check my e-mail and saw I had a response to one of my posts. I was like, this can't be, it doesn't even work right now. But I checked and it was up and running. I'm so happy ^_^. Well, it's 10 to 8 right now, so who knows what else can happen...

More bad news
2002-10-18 06:05:39
Well, with the AMV.ORG forums being looked after I was using another forum in the meantime, but those have been taken down temporarily. They're down because of exceeeded bandwith. There's only like 60 members! I'd hate to see what would happen if they had as many members as AMV.ORG. o_0 Doesn't really matter to me at the moment, my internet isn't working in my room.
About my internet, I use a home telephone network. The internet comes from my father's computer (internet server) which is 2 floors away. I'm in the basement and he's on the top floor (me=basement -> main floor -> dad=next floor after main floor). Sorry about that, I felt I could really describe the situation without some sort of graph. Anyways, I believe that the network has something to do with my internet problems. And that is that I'm physically so far away. When my mother trues connecting to the network, using her laptop, she normally has a very tempermental connection. She gets disconnected many a times. And this is when she connects from the main floor. The problem with this hypothesis is that my connection normally works. It is only in the past week that it has problems, majorally in the afternoon and evenings.
My faher believes that it's a bug that's the problem. I don't know why, but he decided to upgrade me to Windows ME. They say it has a lot of problems, but until I actually experience one, I'm going to have to say that it's a pretty good operating system. However, once the upgrade was completed, my Wingate Agent no longer loads when I log on, and at the same time, I can no longer see my network connection. So no more internet, no more printer, no more trasferring files to my brother's computer to burn them... :( I'm going to continue to try and fix it on the weekend. It's going to be a looooong weekend...
Stricter rules and more moderators. I guess that's pretty fair. The AMV.ORG forums were getting a little out of hand. Like, who posts threads that say nothing but hi (and these are not n00bs, and these are in the Way off Topic section!). People will do anything to get high post counts. I never really minded the What Does This Word Mean To You? threads and stuff, because they revolved around one or two threads. But when almost every other is like a dud and when one thread dies and no one wants to continue it, so they make a new one, it's becomes discouraging. Also the fact that people become quite emotionally involved around the forum. Once they take your comment the wrong way, it practically becomes a war. Swrearing, rudes pictures... I'll never forget one pic (shivers). But their are some meaningless threads I like, like the Anime Babes one ^_^. Guess I'm too picky. Oh well, hope the forums here get back up soon, as long as I fix my internet...

Forums are gone (may return) =(
2002-10-14 21:18:38
I just realised that the reason the forums are gone isn't because there's something wrong with site, it's because Phade (and whoever else made the decision) decided to take them down temporarily. Then again, they may be down forever. :( And I've 18 threads to respond to (all those e-mail things) :). Everyone seems to be writing in their journals about the forums right now, so I'll post the rest later. This way mine stays up longer. ^_^
Anyways, like I said before, I'm a little sick. So I should go to bed early. Goodnight everyone.
