Back Online
2002-10-18 20:40:13
I'm back online (can't ya tell?). My system is mostly back up and running and not as many emails awaiting me as I feared. The good news is many of the problems I was experience are gone (for now).
More CDs on their way to the distribution center. In the next few days I'm going to email those participating with their CDs on some strategies to get the center more out there to the AMV public so things can start to pick up. I still need to burn my master copies of everything so not a huge rush.

Offline
2002-10-17 18:53:45
I've been having an assortment of issues with my iBook...all software related. So I'm going to purge the little bugger and do a fresh reinstall. I'm actually going to try to dump OS 9 totally and go with a pure OS X system (not sure about a few OS 9 programs with OS X patches installing). Anyway, I'll be mostly offline for a few days. I will have email/web access tomorrow at work but I won't be back online at home until most of the work is done. So if you don't hear from me until Monday (I doubt it will take that long) you'll know why.
Oh, and the FireWire case for my CD-RW came in so now I have a cute little FireWire case stack started up on the edge of my desk.

New Compression
2002-10-17 09:18:55
I have uploaded a new compression version of my two videos. The new MPEG-1 compression has brighter colors, the text is cleaner, and the overall video looks better. If you have the urge please feel free to download these nicer looking versions. Here are the links.

Dance Dance Baby

DDR Project 1 is on the catalog. Well, it will be as soon as the current upload is done =P Man that was fun, cataloging FOURTY tracks! You people are lucky I don't have a life. DDR Project 2 will be made available as well at a later date once the DVD versions have been pressed and distributed.
Also picked up a 50 pack of my favorite brand CD-R discs for $2.99 (thank you Best Buy rebate center). Since I'm still working on a 100 pack spindle for my own uses those 50 will go in as the back up CDs for the distribution center. Oh, and since I don't like typing a nine sylabus title the AMV Distribtion Center will now be refered to as the AMV DC in my posts and the like. My new high speed burner is currently helping out with a project at work but once it is back home I will be making my own master copies of the AMV DC's (ah, much better) CDs and they'll go into their own nifty CD case. I'll be keeping the originals as a backup set.
I'm starting to wonder if I need to turn the request system into an email based one rather than just have people mail me blind.

Forum Shutdown and the Like
2002-10-14 18:43:28
I'm currently watching a really cool black & white WWII movie on TCM. I'll need to check the film's name later but it is about the Battle of the Bulge so if I'm distracted you know why.
Well I posted that the distribution center's catalog was online and not a half hour later the forum was shutdown. I can't blame the site admin at all. I personally didn't see a lot of the problem going on (too many years on the net, I tend to avoid those areas) but I saw enough and heard plenty to know the problems were real. Oh well, I'll miss the forum while it is down and hope any changes made are for the best. My email box is about to be over ran from the increase to the AMV mail list and I honestly don't know what's going to happen with the distribution center now that the central point of AMV communication is gone.
