A Lot of Build Up
2002-07-11 10:19:21
A lot is going on right now...that's the problem you get when you don't post a journal entry regularly.
I've finished capturing all the video footage I need for my newest AMV project and editing has already begun. Now I'm starting to understand why other creators get intimidated by their earlier works. I keep finding myself worrying about doing at least as good, if not better, than Drops of Sailor Jupiter. I believe I need to stop that worrying or I will do a much poorer job on this AMV. I have enough stress with this video since the deadline is August 2 and that isn't a postmarked deadline =P
I'm also working on an online guide for Mac users who want to get started making AMVs. With so many good, but Window based, start up guides out there I thought I would take the lessons learned over a six month period through a lot of searching and begging on Mac posting boards and make finding software and information a lot easier for the Mac AMV creator starting behind me. I have the walk through (including screen shots, just like a pro =P) done up to the actual video editing. I'll probably refer the details on how to edit to a good book or two and then finish up with compression and publishing on the web and via CDs/VCDs.
The Middle Tennessee Anime Convention is all but begging for entries so I'll probably submit Drops of Sailor Jupiter to help them out. I was planning to submit that video and my new AMV both to AWA for their first cons but I can do both cons, My new video at least will be fresh for AWA.
I'm also starting to look forward to AWA. I have a stock pile of CD-Rs which, all told, cost me $12 for 150 CD-Rs w/paper sleeves. I'll definetly pass out copies containing my videos (should have two done by AWA) and I might allow people without burning ability or the ability to attend AWA the oppurtunity to get one or two of their AMVs on my CDs as well since I'll have the open room anyway.
Finally, if no one else gets it started soon, I'll start compiling a mail list of AMV creators attending AWA so a gathering can be organized for sometime during the con.
Oh, and I left my bank card in the ATM last night so now I'm cash less and at the mercy of the bank =P

Updated Web Site
2002-07-01 15:28:29
I've finally taken down the Apple template site i've been running and put up some decent looking pages. HTML is by far not my biggest hobby so don't expect too much. I need to fix a couple of off site links (stupid GoLive) and I'll be adding/removing a few images for you get the gist of what's there.
Check it out at http://homepage.mac.com/red_wolf
Now to update my video links.

New Drives
2002-06-29 16:27:00
Well on Thursday night a friend and I took out the over stuffed 10GB drive in my iBook (not an easy task by any means, even for vet Apple techs which neither of us were) and installed a new 40GB drive. Then today that old 10GB drive got put into a portable FireWire/USB case.
So now I have a 40GB internal drive for my system, apps, and growing collection of AMVs, an 80GB external desktop drive you DVD ripping/AMV creation and backing up, and a 10GB portable drive that I haven't figured out a use for. Hey, I got the portable case for $44 shipped and that, for me, was worth keeping the 10GB drive whose only problem was size. I'm sure I can find some use for it since it is both Mac and PC friendly.
