JOURNAL: SarahtheBoring (Sarah B')

  • Yay! Again! 2006-09-19 21:33:53 Aw yeah. P&K has hit star level 4. With only 92 stars, so it's not the most accurate thing in the world, but hey, that's still pretty cool. That's the highest rating that any of my videos has ever had, IIRC. woot.

Unexpectedly started to work on a "back-burner" idea. My mood fit its mood, I suppose. I hope to finish it in the not-too-distant future, even if it will be a "minor" project. We'll see! The next "major" project is sarcastic and cynical, and I'm in the mood for fluff. Both will be made eventually, so there's no real rush.

Aha. Hee. I recently made a friend who has made AMVs, not a hardcore type but on the side, y'know. That's a whooooole two people I know IRL who make videos. Mwaha! Girl Editor won't show anyone any of her projects 'cause she says she's still learning, but Boy Editor showed me two half-finished projects this weekend, and I'm going to bother him until he finishes at least one, because I liked them. Bother bother bother. >;)

  • Finished Princess Tutu. (no spoilers.) 2006-09-15 22:25:30 OMFG must have now. And by "now" I mean "eventually, when I find a decent price, because I may be rabid but I'm not stupid."

I'll admit, the "Hold Me Now" AMV was the last straw that made me finally rent it, although a bunch of the Utena fans I talk to online had praised it as well. The Utena fans were right, first of all. And the AMV does show off all the flashy parts of the series, but it shows them off in a manner true to the spirit of the series, I think. It follows the theme and story and isn't random, while still looking amazingly cool. I respect that a lot.

Series I've watched or bought under the partial or complete influence of AMVs:
Azumanga Daioh ("Let's Get Down" from one of the DDR Projects)
Descendants of Darkness (oh, now I've forgotten the title - the song was "Finished Symphony")
Fruits Basket (A Song for Everyone)
    Princess Tutu (Hold Me Now)
Magical Play (AMV Hell - It's the End of the World As We Know It)
    Princess Nine (Strike On)
Shamanic Princess, damn those "princess" titles wtf (various ones, plus Animix)
And probably a boatload more of the ones I've rented.

    Yes.

And next on my rental queue - after another disc of KKM - is Kakurenbo, which I scribbled down during an AMV overflow screening at Otakon. ("Kakurenbo WTF?", to be precise.)

Recruiter vids work, people! Of course, recommendations are a part of it too. So keep having good taste and making cool videos. I don't think we'll have a problem with that. ;)

  • et voila. 2006-09-15 01:33:23 http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=sarahtheboring

...also, my inner Miyazawa burst out with something like "AHHH, COMMENTS! EVEN IF THEY'RE LAME! THEY MUST BE MINE!"

so yeah. Very tired now. Will finish tomorrow.
  • *pushes up glasses, becomes evil* 2006-09-14 20:44:33 I'm hosatcheling some of my stuff. :/ I was directed to a link where someone else took credit of TAS to the point where they were linked on Wikipedia among other AveQ fanworks (like "The Purpose of Persocoms"). I don't think it merits being mentioned in the same breath as that video, but that... I just snapped. Those random little twerps aren't going to take credit for it to THAT extent. I was fine with the dumbass plagiarism as long as it was just some random file-passing on YT, but to be called the editor on fucking Wikipedia? No, bitches. Too far. Much too far.

So... it's too late to really "fix" things, but I can feel like I've tried. Right? Right.

  • Yay! 2006-09-12 22:25:21 I started working on a new video today. I've been hemming and hawing about starting it for at least six months, and have had the match in the back of my head for oh, man. Three years? A long time. I never thought I was up to it. I might not be up to it *now*, but I'm going to give it a shot.

This is such an exciting point in the process. I know it's not going to be this easy all the way through, but I enjoy it as long as it lasts.

    Also:
    - Recently finished Scrapped Princess. No ideas. Enjoyed it quite a bit, though.
    - Also finished the Antique Bakery manga. Still like book two best out of four, but it kept reasonably on par the whole way.
    - Saw the Bleach premiere just so I can feel like I WAS THERE, FOR ONCE. I won't be able to see the rest of the series on CN, because I don't have cable. I actually stayed over at somebody's house to watch the Bleach premiere. Yes, I am that much of a dork. Will buy the DVDs when they come out, no doubt.
    - Started watching Kare Kano. This is one of those series that I've always figured I'd like, but never got around to actually *watching.* I like it more than I thought - it doesn't feel like a romance series made by fanboys, which is what I half suspected. The lead is endearingly obnoxious, and it doesn't hold too tightly to shounen tropes or shoujo tropes - both of these elements are refreshing.

No ideas for that either. :)
