  • Bom bom ba-bom bom... 2003-07-09 17:33:17 1. Have decided to take the AMVs off my site after all. I'll be moving them over to the Carrot. They're taking up so much space that I can't even put up all of the rest of my site. :/ I'll have notes and stuff and a link to the .org listing, with the local download there.

I don't want to have to do it that way, but I'm flat out of space, the end. Not gonna work that way. So, I'll store the game videos on my server and have the anime videos on the Carrot.

I'll be making clean copies of everything, including fixing that bad sound in "Sea," hopefully. :P

    2. Really like "Can't Stop the Rock" except that it falls into that "all women hate sex" cliche that just makes me go "grr." Ruins the fun atmosphere for me... luckily it's near the end. And heck, at least we get Vash. ;)

[Note: Fanboys, if you still think all women hate sex, a) consider going after girls older than 12; b) consider bathing. Kthx.]

  • 2003-07-03 20:31:38 Local downloads aren't working for me, how odd. Meh. And while I'm bitching, the peanut butter I picked up last shopping trip is too sugary and the bread is salty as hell, what's up with that?

    < /intentionallystupid > < unintentionallystupid >

If I believed in muses, I'd kick the crap out of my AMVing muse. It is a U2 fanatic. It needs to give me ideas to a wider variety of songs. Now, I love the band and all, but I don't think their music has any kind of special AMVability. Muse, however, seems to think it does. It needs to be slapped.

Now, the exception is Passengers. If I got an AMVing idea to Passengers, well... we might be on to something. But so far, no ideas there. Maybe because most of those tunes sound scifi-ey, and sci-fi isn't my usual anime genre.

On the other hand, I might also make an exception for super-old stuff by them, like Boy up through War... just because I've wanted to do an older song for a while now. The focus is so much on new and obscure stuff that I just have to be a contentious jerk and strike out in the other direction. ;)

I had an idea for "I Will Follow" back in my earliest AMVing days, but it was FF and it was lame. "Pride (In the Name of Love)", however, I am convinced would make a good Final Fantasy video, if you can believe such a thing can exist. P(ITNOL) reminded me of FF4 from the day I first heard it, and I think either the original or the Clivilles & Cole super-duper-early-90s remake would make a suitably cheesy but heroic vid.

Which I won't make because I don't have FFX source.

    Sigh.

I'magonna go see if anyone's made any vids to the old stuff (New Year's Day, I'll bet, has something), or any Led Zeppelin videos. Don't ask me why, I've just had a curious feeling about Led Zeppelin videos with, like, Lodoss. Just for a kick. ;)

  • ooooWEEEEooooo... 2003-06-27 23:14:23 *puts down bad impression of theremin music*

Yesterday, I noticed that if - miraculously - I managed to get another opinion on "Sea," all of my videos (apart from Drama, which I'd like to forget) would have either two or seven opinions exactly.

    And voila, somebody reviewed Sea today. So now all my videos have either two reviews (Fate, Imaginary) or seven (Burning, Sea, Villains). If I played the lottery I'd play 727. ^_^;

There have been two reviews for my oldest vid in the last week. Kind of odd. I haven't put it up for local DL or anything. Hm. Anyway.

I was in kind of a stupid mood this morning, so I put together a random string of clips with a bunch of random effects just to see what they all do. I'm such a newb. ;) But it is amusing to see a normal scene, and all of a sudden somebody's face warps into a fisheye-lens view for no apparent reason.

My real intent is to figure out how to approximate a tricky effect I want to do in a later video - it's not all that fancy, but there's a particular idea I'm looking to suggest, so it's best if I do it just right.

Meant to order the next disc of Trigun today and preorder the next Utena disc (RUKA!!), but the money, it is gone. I'll have to wait till the next paycheck. Bah.

  • To see the sun shining on someone else's day 2003-06-23 21:24:57 - The video is now ready to mail out. Hey, you never know, right?

    - I so wish I had a video idea for "In the Name of the Father," which is a duet by Bono and Gavin Friday. I've actually never seen the movie, but the song is very strident and mysterious and moving and just a bit strange. Lots of mood/speed changes, too, and one of my favorite percussion parts ever. Hm.

    - I've let go of one of my video ideas. It would make a damned cool video, but I have enough on my slate as it is. Ah well. It was going to be Depeche Mode's "I Feel You" with Akio of SKU. It's a darkly sexy, bombastic song; it sounded like a great fit. (Besides... well, the intro. I mean... really.) Relating to both Anthy and Utena, twisting around the angel/heaven imagery as necessary.

I know nobody really takes these, but for the record, it's free to a good home.

    *sigh*

Anyway. I really have to work on video quality next time around! Gah. The MPEG encode for that VCD was really horrible, but I couldn't help it by that point. Must work on that.
