  • I just don't know what's got into me 2003-08-18 20:26:27 I've figured out that the reason I can't decide on a song to fit this concept is that I don't HAVE a song that fits this concept.

    grumble.

    I'm holding off the NSFW-song-that-is-way-the-hell-too-long for some other time. This is a drama vid that I feel like doing. (Besides, the pr0ny song may be crowded out by another song anyway, that is NOT almost six minutes long.)

    I can't find a song. Kinda sucks. Nothing is really clicking. My first thought had a nice atmosphere, but the drums might drive me crazy. Despite the hazy, ethereal sound of the song, the drums are a really short, stark BOOM. CHH. BOOM. CHH. BOOM. CHH. throughout the entire song.

    argh drivesmenuts.

    Also, the lyrics keep sticking to one part of the concept, and my mind isn't building anything else on top of that. It'd be just ONE idea. And that's kind of boring.

    The second possible song may just be too melodramatic. It's thicker than the first song and less specific in terms of the imagery that's coming to mind, but it's eh. It's melodramatic and doesn't suggest a nice progression like the first one does. It just kind of meanders around.

    Flipping through all my CDs is wearing out my brain.

    I'd planned on not editing for a few weeks just to give my meager creative juices a chance to recharge, but I might just give the song-hunting a break too.

('Sides, she likes cosplay and would probably like DDR. I concur. I'll have to look into how one gets into that in the States. Home version of course.)

    Anyway, her only exposure to AMVs were half of the Tekkoshocon screening and the Otakon second screening, plus the replay of the winners at the cosplay contest. (At home they know I make AMVs, but I don't think they've ever seen them, and I haven't talked about it much. Just that I've made them.)

    But today, she called me out of the blue going, "You know, if you wanted to make an AMV, I had this idea!"

    It's a virus. I'm telling you. ;)

    Her idea was just ZZ Top's "Legs" in a kind of tongue-in-cheek cheesecake fest. Oddly enough, it hasn't really been done; there was a Nuku Nuku vid to that song, but that's it. Not that I intend to, anyway, but I checked.

    I commented that it would probably be funny, but then you'd have to /buy/ all of that stuff, and thus launched a thirty-second explanation of how people rip their footage off DVDs (usually) and stuff.

    (I probably should have briefed them before the screening, just FYI, but I didn't want to bore them. Afterward the first comment I got was, "Man, you'd have to know every second of the anime, wouldn't you." Well, kinda...yeah. ^_^; )

    Anyway, newbie moment. I just thought it was funny that the virus took hold even a little after two exposures. :P

    Uweeheehee, guess who has a new goal in her AMVing career.

    DOWAR (#7) is awaiting assistance on making the audio start properly. (audio forum! help!) Oddly enough, the Sea remake is being exported now too. I may have both done at the same time, at this rate. (I'll get DOWAR up ASAP, but I haven't decided exactly what to do with Sea yet. So far it's on my server. It may have to stay there. It's a game vid, but the style is not anime style; it's just CG. Though then, people are probably uploading FF8 and FF10 vids, and their style is NOTHING like anime. It's realistic style. Feh.)

    Anyway. Grooving to INXS as my old old video exports. My day is improving, ever so slowly. 
  • 2003-08-15 00:18:48 Yes, I hate people, but I hate Premiere *even more.* It earns my extra-special please-jump-into-a-pit-full-of-poison-spikes-roll-over-and-die award.

    I have a video that is completely blank beginning to end, with great sound. Somehow, unless I am being avant-garde, I don't think this will cut it.

    And I'm not being avant-garde.

    *reinstalls AMVApp for the heck of it*

    Some people think AMVing is retarded. Everybody does what makes them happy. What's so fucking wrong with that? Live and let live, assholes.
