Oh Glorioso, deliver us not into frustration

You know, so far, nearly every video I've really liked has started from the song first. Maybe I'm going about this wrong, maybe that's why I'm not feeling all that compelled about 8a and 8b. I had a vague concept first and *went looking* for songs for them. And I'm feeling kinda "meh" about both of them. They're okay, but I don't feel driven.
Hmm.
I *did* feel a bit more compelled about the sleazy idea, but I think "Lullaby" fits that concept even more... but at the same time I am certain there's a concept that fits that SONG more. Plus, I'd have to buy a new copy of the CD and that kinda sucks right now, as I have no money.
Arg.
I could
a) make a rough cut of a Lullaby video, consider, buy the CD if it looks promising and redo it
b) listen to CDs at random and scan over my "songs that deserve AMVs" list until something really good bites me in the ass (beating off Depeche Mode with a stick, because I've already done one video to their stuff and will do another shortly)
c) plug ahead on 8a and 8b, but that is only very mildly fun... at least today it is
I think I'll go with b) for now. It's fun anyway.

Story to story, building to building, street to street, we pass each other

I have to stop seeing INXS's "The Stairs" as something like "Rhythm Animation" with calming/uplifting clips, because I don't have anywhere near the anime collection necessary to pull it off. (And it would be copying, and that's not fair. But the idea of everything forming a loop, one person's life flowing into another, is interesting when applied to something serious too.)
I also have to stop posting so much in this journal, but I've already posted too much on LJ today already. ;)
I love this song to death, though. (heck, it's where I got my current email addy. /nerd) It's been one of my favorites for years. Always gives me this calming, uplifting impression, this kind of "we're all here on this earth together, living our lives" feeling. Not to mention one of my favorite sets of lyrics, ever.
Yeah, it's mainstream and I'm a lam0r and all of that, yadda yadda. But I think it's a beautiful thing when people are sincerely touched by music, even if it is a maudlin pop song from 1991. That's one of the things I just don't get jaded about.
Just gonna listen to my song now. It's a good time for it.

INXS - The Stairs
In a room above a busy street
The echoes of a life
The fragments and the accidents
Separated by incidents
Listened to by walls, we share the same spaces
Repeated in the corridors
Performing the same movements
Story to story
Building to building
Street to street, we pass each other
Story to story
Building to building
Street to street, we pass each other
Listened to by walls, we share the same spaces
Repeated in the corridors
Performing the same movements
The nature of your tragedy is chained around your neck
Do you lead, or are you led?
Are you sure that you don't care?
There are reasons here to give your life
And follow in your way
The passion lives to keep the faith
Though all are different, all are great
Climbing as we fall
We dare to hold on to our fate
And steal away our destiny
To catch ourselves with quiet grace
Story to story
Building to building
Street to street, we
Pass each other on the stairs...
Listened to by walls, we share the same spaces
Repeated in the corridors
Performing the same movements
Story to story
Building to building
Street to street, we
Pass each other on the stairs...

Recommended to me by Fungie. It is quite good. Angsty as all getout, and quite good.

Yami/Sarah McLachlan, "Possession" (the acoustic version).
Huh. So hey, that's like three keepers in two days. Score.

Hi, fellow villain fans - Why has none of us done a song with the Cure's "Lullaby" yet? That's *the* classically wrong mix of sex and death. Maybe it's because Robert Smith's delivery almost ruins the song...meh.
I'd be making a Muraki video to that song right now if my copy of "Galore" weren't scratched to death. As it stands, it's on my list of CDs to re-buy for AMVing purposes (who says file-sharing destroys the music industry?! I have no less than four CDs on that list now, possibly five).
*listens again while skimming through clips*

Awwww, that Pop Idol Antics video is so adorable! I needed some cheering up. ^_^
'Course it makes the Gravi idea I had totally useless (it had a good bit of Shuichi and Ryuichi in it as well), but that's okay, it was bound to happen eventually.
So cute! It hits one of the two major reasons I like Gravitation - its silly, bright energy. (Other reason is Yuki the pretty angst machine, but that's covered in other videos.)
aw. So even if my downloading spree today doesn't turn up anything else, that's definitely a keeper. ^_^
