My D drive just went down in a flaming ball of WTFness. Actually, it was a bit more like the Titanic sinking: slow, inexorable, and with grim finality. I've been screwing with it off and on for oh, six hours now, I guess, since I got home. But it's finally sinking beneath the waves.
This is my storage hard drive - I only have two and both are in my computer, unlike all you 1337 peoples who have, like, 200 or whatthehellever. It's the drive where I kept everything that was not a program or a temporary, desktop sort of file - i.e. AMV source, photos of vacations and the like, old writings, my resume, BitTorrent downloads, everybody *else's* AMVs, archived website designs, old projects, current projects (including gamemaking AND AMVs)...yeah, this is pretty major.
The good news is that I think I've saved everything worth saving. The most important 3G of stuff got pulled onto the smaller, main drive; most of the bulk, the vobs for two different projects, got canned; and I burned my last 3 CD-Rs of BT stuff and other assorted less important but still a-pain-to-replace things.
Yes, I was also down to my last 3 CDRs at the time. That's stress for you.
I think, I *think* everything is safe now. Sheez.

I'm a moron; I got all wrapped up in a project, all excited about it, and completely forgot that the AWA vids would be coming out.
Talk about a cold shower. :
Vid 9b *was* about half done. It doesn't seem worth the effort now. It really was a sweet little thing. But I can't do it justice.
Just when I feel like I'm learning, that I've gotten a hang of this stuff at last, I learn that I never had it to begin with. For a while there, with the last two vids, I felt like I knew what I was doing.
Fucking moron.
I'll shut up now and look at the pretty pictures. I should never have tried.

Why am I fully awake, conscious and not even tired at five o'clock in the morning after a full day of work? I've been awake for TWENTY-THREE HOURS. THIS NEVER HAPPENS. Two days ago I could barely stay awake for eight hours at a stretch. WTF.
I have to go shopping with my sister tomorrow, uh, today too, dammit!
Anyway, one of the reasons I'm up is that I got down about 10-20% of YET ANOTHER in-progress video (that makes two). It only spans about four episodes of a series - it focuses on a subplot - so I'm hoping it comes together relatively quickly. I *should* throw in some stylistic things to better serve the music, so that may be tough, but at least I don't have to scan clips for years on end.
I don't really regret it, though. I like it so far. It's very "me." A couple of neat moments and a lot of pretty blah exposition, great music.

Dude, I didn't notice till now that my new avatar has practically the same pose as my .org pic page shot. Seriously, I wasn't thinking of that at all. I was just tired of the last one and spreadin' the starchy, oddly accented Tatsumi love.
Heh. Tatsumi is orders of magnitude cuter than I am, at least. ;D
[aside: oddly accented in the dub, I mean. I don't know what it is, but I pick up vibes of, like, New Jersey or New York in Tatsumi's dub voice. It's not a bad thing, really, unlike Watari's weirdass imaginary we-had-to-do-something-because-he-HAS-an-accent-in-Japanese accent, which makes me want to climb the walls.
I'm the only person to watch the damn dub anyway, so I'll stop rambling now.]
Have a vid idea for Rose of Versailles, but it'll be a long, long time till I can BT the rest of the series, if ever - and even then it's still fansub quality. Ah well. It's one of those mental videos that will keep playing until SOMEDAY it can be put down in actual clips.
And yes, already. I'm nine episodes in out of I think 40, but they flat-out TELL you what's going to happen, REPEATEDLY, from the beginning on. So unless there are some major twists, and I'm not really seeing it, there's a vid idea brewing.
Also watching Scrapped Princess. Is much good. But I have a suspicion it'll get licensed just after I've wasted tons of time downloading it. So that's up in the air. I may just wait.
