JOURNAL: SarahtheBoring (Sarah B')

  • Whoa. And only what, eighteen years late lolololololol 2006-11-06 22:22:05 Whoa. Out of curiosity, I exported today's work as an h264 AVI, and man, that's pretty. Not OMGZPERFECT, but awfully pretty considering the space it takes up. Interesting. Unfortunately, trying to look at the properties thereof makes Explorer freeze and die, but otherwise - cool.

Yes, well, my Nanowrimo story is tanking, so it's more fun right now to do the lipflap cleanup on the Fuzzy Video.

Also started watching "Welcome to the NHK!", which contains one of my least favorite plot tropes (mysterious moe girl OMGSPLURT who needs an actual motivation?), but the squirm-inducing reality factor is interesting. Personally I'm more at the Genshiken level of social retardation - I have a job and an apartment and socialize on a semi-regular basis, although it's with other nerds - but there was a time when I was about one bad job interview away from agoraphobia and/or General Freaking The Hell Out. And while different cultural factors come into play in hikikomori, of course, fucked-up human nature is still fucked-up human nature, and this show nails that pretty well.

  • 2006-10-15 23:39:36 Fuck. I think someone raided my "Imaginary World" video for clips - including weird juxtapositions which were largely the point of that video - for a video on YouTube. I want to bitchslap them so hard, but they commented nicely on my video, and the "nobody likes my stuff so I have to be nice to the only two fans it has" side is fighting with the "I found those similarities, not you, goddammit" side. ARGH

I commented disingenuously; if they admit to reaming my video, I'll tell them that uh, they really shouldn't do that, or at least give me some credit.

    Blargh.
  • 2006-10-15 22:51:08 I wish someone would have warned me that the Tekko kickoff event was full of 12-year-olds. Oh, highschoolers. Whatever. God, I've rarely felt so old in my life. Luckily, the con itself is not that much of a kiddie pool.

Definitely not going to send the video full of F-bombs to their contest, even if I edit them out. ;) (It's not done yet, either...)

"13th" and I flipped through my Upbeat/Comedy AMV collection a couple of days ago. Some stuff I'd forgotten about. It's nice to reconnect with the entertaining part of this hobby; the context of Very Serious Business is only one way to look at it, and generally people forget about that.

So it was fun. Also I got to show off more of my stuff, which is always fun. :3

  • Mwahaha (tangentially AMVish things) 2006-10-11 22:35:39 I just got a cell phone - yeah, finally, I know - and the ringtone service has "It's Tricky." Hahaha. If I actually talked to a significant number of editors on the phone - which I don't, because I suck at it - that'd be terribly entertaining.

My friends actually get TMBG's "Ana Ng," because most of them originally came from the internet and the song seems to be about long-distance friendships/relationships. You know, there's only one video to that song on the org. Cryin' shame. Not that I've ever had an idea for it. Love that song, though; it's my second favorite by TMBG after "See the Constellation."

Realizing that the only problem with striving to finish Fluffy Video before Nov. 1 is the strain on my already RSI-plagued arms. My wrists need to be in relatively good shape for a 30-day typing marathon. -_-; We shall see.

Oh, by the way. TEKKO 1/2, THE MINI-CON. THIS SATURDAY. CARNEGIE LIBRARY OF PITTSBURGH, MAIN BRANCH. HINT. THAT'S THE ONE IN OAKLAND. 10:30 - 5, IF MEMORY SERVES.

I have no idea what it's actually like, not having been to one yet, but Co-Conspirator and I are going to check it out for a while, at least.

Oh, speaking of THAT, I finally arm-twisted him into watching some of my videos yesterday. XP Hey, I've seen all of his! OK, I saw two of the three (Kill Il and Someday Yukino) even before we were friends, and he'd seen none of mine at all. Had to even the score there. I just put on a couple, TAS and the Trigun/Immigrant Song short, before bouncing off to the "downloaded, to burn" folder of stuff by other people.

I have a really bad "OMG this is awesome you have to see this" compulsion. Haha.

Okay, now that's really the end.
  • Do not underestimate... 2006-10-09 23:27:05 Thought 1: How did "Not Breaking the Habit" - a super-short Gravitation gag video - wind up with twice as many hits as "The Prince and the Kappa," probably my best video to date?

Thought 2: ...Oh. Gravi. But STILL, people. Still. C'maaaaan.

I have to give up and admit that I ripped off a visual motif from one of my older videos in the Super Fluffy Video In Progress. I like it in this one! I like it in both! I just don't win any originality points. :p

Nanowrimo's on the horizon! My life is still somewhat more complicated than before! I'm going to finish this, though! I mean, it's not the greatest thing to happen to the world, but still, that finished-project rush is so sweet.
