JOURNAL: SarahtheBoring (Sarah B')

  • The eternal newbie 2003-12-02 20:28:05 Found out that my absolute polar opposite in all possible ways, yes, the one who literally wishes I were dead and blames me for all the ills of the world, likes one of the same series I like. I feel... dirty. *shudders*

Something is stopping me from finishing that last one. I don't know what it is. Self-preservation? I like it, but it isn't very good. I don't know what the deal is. I just can't bring myself to work on the last few parts that need to be done. Maybe I'm just sick of it. I don't know.

So I dug out an older one that had been shelved, worked on it for a few weeks, and realized that it was just... dead, in some way. However, in a manner not typical for me, I felt like the song was wrong. It was pretty, but the vid wasn't tapping into its real pulse, and it just kind of floated aimlessly over the visuals.

Despite that, I do like the storyline of sorts that the visuals set up, and I wish I could do something with that concept. Thought perhaps that I should try something different, maybe an instrumental, but couldn't find anything in my collection (so far) that really grabbed me by the throat.

So I have a visual "story" that I like, but no song that really breathes life into it and makes it work. So basically I have nada. It's frustrating.

    I did peak with DW&R.

  • 2003-11-18 22:23:58 A good thing: I really like having the un-starred downloads right in your face on the member page. I'd usually forget about them until I got a reminder, before.

    *thumbs-up*

The only bad thing is that now I have that one video I can't star because the file was corrupt staring at me all the time. But that's not the fault of the feature, just the wingnut who put up a corrupt file. Eeeyagh.

  • 2003-11-17 00:07:07 Wow. Yeah, this site (i.e. the forums) pretty much is a waste of time. Funny how you get into a habit of doing something, continue out of habit and see it clearly only after taking a break.

The rest of the site - the part I thought was the point, and isn't for most people - is awesome, don't get me wrong. But in the main I don't think I'll be wasting my time with most of these bozos anymore. Anyone who wants to contact me on LJ is more than welcome, encouraged, in fact. The rest of the herd of homophobes, navel-gazers, circle-jerkers, egomaniacs, and general boring dreck can bite me.

As for videos - OMG, people still actually make videos? - as mentioned ad nauseam I have a...well, I'll call it an alpha now, as it's not polished enough to deserve beta status - of another one. Yippie-ki-yay. It'll probably be done in a few more weeks.

  • 2003-11-06 17:38:46 What I learned today:

If you're going to make [x] the entire point of your video and ave nothing else but [x] in your video, you'd better make damn sure you know how to do [x] well enough to not look completely incompetent.

    That's all I'm gonna say.

No, this does not refer to you, whoever you are.

  • You could tell me stories... 2003-11-04 22:21:17 Guys? "May Cause" banners are not funny anymore. Like, ever. They were only funny once in the first place, because it was a new idea.

Is some originality too much to ask? In other words, if you don't have anything unique to make, can you keep your metaphorical trap shut? It's irritating.

    /bannerrage

Or, instead of SLEEPING after I'm done writing for the day, like I should, I could throw a couple of hours into my major video project. ARGHHHH.

The good news (sort of) is that I think it's about 70% done. Most of the clips are chosen, apart from the Montage of Doom near the end and a few other bits here and there, and overall it just needs some tightening up and flappy control.

There's one shot I don't quite know how to de-flappy; I may have to pester people on LJ for help with that. Hm. It's a moving shot, rotating, actually, and although it's only about a second long (if that) I find it hella distracting.

    Hmm.

The intro is driving me to distraction; there are three clips with the same timing/treatment on them, and one looks sexy as hell while the other two look like crap. I am baffled as to what's going on there.

*sets up little glass cage and laser tripwires around the good one*

According to the timestamps of the dailies, I've only been at this one for about two weeks, since October 20. I refuse to believe that for a second; it seems like months on end. MONTHS. There are cave paintings featuring rough cuts of this vid.

I did order "Totoro" for use in the FFVI Project. Now I just hope to god I can think of something to do. I watched the rest of the NES Project today, and it has me biting my nails in terror. I don't know how people even visualize that kind of complex, eight-layers-of-junk stuff before they make it. O_o

Anyway, that'll be in around the eleventh, and how fast my track gets done after that all depends on how my story-writing goes. I've been slightly ahead of schedule so far, but things can change in a heartbeat with those things.

    ---

Animix 3 will be out soon. w00t. I'm not in it; my guess was wrong about where the sections broke apart. I'll be in 4 or 5, something like that. I'll have to change my lameass AMV page.
