JOURNAL: SarahtheBoring (Sarah B')

  • 2004-05-22 20:02:21 Aheheh...erm.

    DVD Decrypter will not even open without freezing these days, and the backup, SmartRipper, always slow as hell, is now unusably freezy as well.

    Iiiiiii guess I've got some research to do, don't I. ^_^;

    Or I could go ghetto and work with *twitch* fansubs until I figure this whole thing out.

    Sigh. It probably IS my OS going senile; it has a tendency to freeze during even mundane tasks. I'm thisclose to packing up all my files and asking for a copy of SuSE from my dad the Linux convert. 'Course then, I might be left with programs I'm too dense to understand.

    Or an uninstall and reinstall. I suppose. At any rate, it's usually not a good idea for me to jump right into a new video after finishing an old one. I always have the impulse, but I burn out faster that way.

    *uploads*
    *...slowly*

    And it's actually not crazy huge this time, either! It's slightly too large, 32.3 MB for a 2:44 video, but my first encode was 50MB. And it looks quite crispy, at least most of the time.

    All righty. You know, I think I'm going to keep that box unchecked, though. On a technicality, I did make a couple of parody intros a while back - no editing at all, just new songs to OP sequences. Buuuuut that's music + anime, thus - I'm still truthfully unchecking. Yes? Yes.

    Anyway, I'll toss up a thread when the upload's done.

    I like this one. It's fun. It's very un-StB-like.

  • Good news and bad news 2004-05-20 22:25:09 Which is which depends on your POV.

    * The video is done.

    * The video cannot seem to be exported properly.

    * I'm putting up a beta - well, a finished-apart-from-deflickering-and-video-quality beta - for the people on my LJ flist. If you're not on, comment there/PM here and I'll add ya to my AMV filter. (It's mostly filtered to keep from irritating the non-AMV people on my list. You don't have to add me as a friend; I just have to add you.) It should be finished in 45 minutes or so.

    * I can now truthfully say that I have a finished AMV that's not in the catalog. So I get to uncheck that box. And I am not in target range for the '05 VCAs. XD Haha, bitches, you'll have to work harder to mock me this time around. [victory dance]

    * Serious, serious problems re: Otakon. Long story, but it's not looking too good. I really want to go; it may just be a case of swallowing the cost of three people's hotel/admission instead of just my own. That's gonna hurt. But I can't stand to go with my previous traveling partners anymore, and I don't know anyone to replace them with. :/ (I may have to Greyhound it down there as it is. This is gonna be pain. But, hopefully, worth it.)

    Anyway, that's good news / bad news.

    When this whole mess is cleaned up, I plan to wipe my "storage" drive (which I think is faulty, actually) and rip something else. I'm tired of working with RGU. I may come back to it someday, but not now. Right now I have two semi-solid ideas for each of two series, two for Descendants of Darkness and two for Trigun - yes, I've worked with both before, but I'm limited by my DVD collection. Each has pros and cons; I'm still mulling over which to rip first.
  • 2004-05-19 21:28:41 Aaaagh and now it's "Average," "Above average" etc.! I was hallucinating. o_o Or it's got a rotating set of things to display.

    Anyhoo, I think I've fixed almost all I can fix on this puppy. Still have to watch today's test export to make sure this round of fixes didn't go awry - then we may have a wrap. It usually takes me a day or two to export, though. Even so. XD

    This is the same thing I said yesterday, isn't it. Heh. Well, I mean it even more now!

    Never thought I'd say this, but - I'm reeeeally tired of fanservice right now. I could go many many months without seeing another gratuitous shirtless bishounen and still be perfectly happy.

    You'll see.

    Oh, export's done. Ding! Gotta keep the "beep when done" box on; it's like popcorn finishing in the microwave. :P

  • 2004-05-19 18:31:41 Hey, I didn't notice this before. The description of the Star Scale:

    3 = Eeeegh

    When I vote 3 I mean "Meh," not "Eeeegh." "Eeeegh" is 2. :P

    I vote 3 if I can't really form a strong opinion one way or another, or if I think it's solidly average. There's nothing wrong with that.

    Unless I'm interpreting "eegh" wrong; it sounds like a recoiling, "ew I just touched something slimy" sound.
