oops, a studio art major who did a lot of graphic art. Sorry. :p

Bad immune system. No cookie.

I *wanted* to meet some of the AMV community after the Creation Panel. However, by Friday night I was staring down some sort of nasty cold/flu, and although I was good for sitting still and listening to things, I was in no condition to really talk or god forbid, mingle. After a couple of hours at the panel, all I could do for a couple of hours was crawl back to the hotel, drink tea and sleep.
And we intended to go to the masquerade because, well, it's one of the main events. So no tech panel for us. I'm starting to swing toward skipping it next year, though, because... although y'know, they work hard and all... Sturgeon's Law is still in effect.
Other than the sick part, the con was all right. I'm an easygoing sort; I don't ask for much except that plans go off reasonably well and all involved are still talking to one another at the end of the trip.
Sorry my sister's question was so vague. :P She was the one who said something about art vs. tech at the Creation Panel - she said (afterward) that she asked because everyone seemed very technologically knowledgeable. She was a graphic art major, and said that she knew some people who had gotten involved in art because they knew the programs, and some who learned the programs in order to do their art. So that was kind of what the question actually was.
Oh right, checking results and such too. Sleepy...

Better. :)
Okeydokey, Otakon time. I wasn't invited to any shindigs, and some of us are short on cash and can't lay out for six days' hotel, SO I'll show up 'round noon tomorrow. I am disgustingly obvious in any crowd, but just in case you HAVEN'T had that special My God What Is That Thing experience:
- I'm packing off-white/khaki pants for the whole thing. Jeans look bad on me. Shirts will probably be black on Friday, bright red on Saturday, and black lace on Sunday with a gray hoodie over it.
- I just made a new backpack for this because I am crafty and a dork; it's black outside and red inside, with four red stars across the flap. I made it up, so it's likely no one will have the same one.
But basically I'm the thing you can't really identify as human, and which can't be gendered from more than one pace away. And not in a sexy, Bowie way; in an icky, "It's Pat" way.
You think I'm joking? I'm not joking.
So anyway, those who are brave enough to risk approaching *that*, errr... say... hello. Aheheh. Erm.
If I'm hanging around my sister and her friend, people tend to freak out, but don't. They actually can't stand me, and I have no problem leaving them alone to talk to somebody else. Chances are I'll be by myself anyway.
If you see a guy dressed as Andy Bogard from King of Fighters with the 2001 outfit (I think - black and white) but with a red belt and flames on the pants, punch him in the face. No, I'm kidding. That's my costuming work, and that's my much-bitched-about ex and until-recently friend, Rob/Logomachist. Say hello. It'll freak him out.
I will make the Friday-night contest screening and the Saturday-morning AMV panel. I hope to drag along the others, if only to say "See, this is what I waste all my time on." ;)
I'm less of a bitch in person. Yeah, I know, that's not saying much. But it's true.

Everything'll be all right if you just lay...

Seriously guys, can you lay off? I said I'd play nice, I tried to stay out of your way, and yet you still seem to take joy in kicking my face in. People who have no idea who I am and don't know me from Adam are laughing at me. Is that fair? I haven't done a thing to them. I haven't done a thing to ANY of you. Yet TWICE in the last few days I've gotten kicked in the face, when I've done absolutely nothing to provoke it. Once I made a neutral comment in a thread, and once I didn't even POST there, and people decided to kick me in the face. What the fuck is that all about.
I don't know where the It's Fun to Kick StB in the Face meme got started, but I don't think it's fair. I'm staying quiet and out of the way. If you absolutely must gather around and throw stones at the weak, can't you find a new punching bag, somebody who's in your face all the time and still trying to be annoying? I've retired.
What do I have to do to earn a little basic respect? I don't even mean treating me especially well. I just mean not bringing up my name as a joke. Even indifference would be nice. Can I get indifference?
I do my best to mend my ways and still end up the same place I started. It's very frustrating.

Dumbass, if you don't know where the name "Helsing/Hellsing" came from, come over here so that I may rip out your intestines and weave them into macrame.
^_^
Actually I'm in a good mood; I came up with another totally useless video idea to play with. YAY, UNFINISHABLE BUT FUN VIDEO IDEAS!
And it's the Smiths! I can't believe I got this far without making a freaking Smiths video. I had one vague idea in mind, but nothing that was ready to pick. This may not be ripe yet either, but hey, I want to play with something fun.
(Smiths...fun? Well...trust me.)
