    ----

Since no AMV ideas are eating my head right now - they're all sitting very politely on the shelf - I think I'll take a swipe at my labor-of-love idea - making a video out of a manga I love to death. Not because I think it's omggroundbreaking, because it's not.

just because I like it that. much.

My scanner is um... a bit stupid, so this could be entertaining. And I don't know if it will work (I don't have AfterEffects, so we're not talking MAD quality here), or if I can even list/upload it here when it's done, because manga !notexactly= anime. (Unless I cut it with anime in some proportion, but eh.)

But it sounds fun to try, and I really love the story. It's time I did something really stupid out of sheer fannishness. It's good for you.
  • Dammit! 2004-09-02 20:34:57 I make alllllllllllllllllllllll sorts of preparations for one vid, all interest in it goes plop, and what bites me instead? An ENTIRELY DIFFERENT idea, which has been lurking for years but only NOW insists on being made.

    Arrghghghggh.

I'll probably follow the urge though. I have no motivation if I don't feel "into" it. Kinda comes with the hobbyist territory.

I'll probably get to the first one eventually, just... not now. Dammit... dammit.

    dammit.

    blah.

I like this lurking-then-biting idea, it's just that it messes up my whole plan of what goes when. Well, at least I have all the video source; I just have to buy two CDs that I really wanted anyway. (it's a two-parter. shoot me now plz.)

Oh well. Go with what grabs ya.
  • And a plug plug here and a plug plug there... 2004-08-27 17:35:02 So peeps, if you're on the Livejournal system and interested in discussing the making of videos - what works, what doesn't? why are we doing this? what's important to you, as a viewer or editor? - then check out my shiny new community.

    The end.
  • 2004-08-25 23:22:44 Yep, my uploading speed is apparently too slow. No Yaoicon for me, and no cons again, ever.

I can't say I'm not disappointed - this was the one chance I could ever have to have my work appreciated, and the organizers of the con are so very happy to turn it into a homophobic laughingstock; every real vid helps a little.

But there's nothing I can do. I'm sorry.

  • Changing of the guard 2004-08-25 22:17:42 Project Screechy Mofo is out, just in case my constant whoring-out of the video hasn't reached EVERY corner of the galaxy. :)

    Video #12
    Title: Danse Macabre
    Anime: Descendants of Darkness
    Song: Vanessa-Mae, "Contradanza"
    Genre: Fast drama

It's gonna be a love-it-or-hate-it thing, I think. My star ratings so far seem to be a 5 and a 2. Heheh.

Glad to have it done. I like how it turned out, generally. I'm attempting to send it to Yaoicon, but it's not working. Meh. If it doesn't work out, I'm not going to attempt cons anymore. I don't know how to encode VCDs (the timing always goes way off if I try to change framerates), and as far as digital submissions go, I think my uploading speed is bad or something. It won't get above 16 KB/s, which is just stupid.

Sooooo well, I gave it the last shot, so meh. Now both of you can stop asking me to submit to cons. :p

Have ordered the CD for Project Space Camp, the most likely #13. It's a doozy. The most source I've attempted to use, but it focuses on minor characters, so this could get painful anyway. We'll just have to see.

At the very least, I'll have something new to listen to!
