...also don't see how that "leechers" banner isn't negative. Oh well.
Sorry about the painintheassness about the new genres, but I seriously don't get it. Personally I think the genres a) aren't that important and b) if anything, could be *reduced*. I could break it down to dance, drama, comedy, trailer, and other, that's it. (I would do without romance. Most romance is close enough to drama to count.) Yes, videos range all across the board, but let's be serious. Most movie awards only break all of film down to two or three divisions, and those are full-length films. I think most of the gerrymandering is due to people being either loose with their grasp of language or too self-important to admit that their video fits into a broad category.
Everything fits into *a* broad category, kids; that's why we call them broad categories. It does not mean your baby is a bad video. Sit down.
"Oh, but *I* transcend *all* barriers of genre." That's nice. That's what "Other" is for. Next?
...people. It may be time to go back into retirement. That lasted what, four days? Oy.
I haven't felt too inclined to edit, even to escape the pressures of The Writing Challenge From Hell, which might also be described as Iron Book. In past years I've done both, but meh. Perhaps it's for the best; my lowest-rated video was edited partly during this time of year. :P
I'm still waiting for my darned. freakin'. DVDs back. You know, if I had lent something to somebody hundreds of miles away over the internet, I would probably have them mailed back by now - but lend them to a family member and they're as good as gone for half a year.
Check your assumptions at the door, general public.
I don't mind lending, it's just blah. want back, eventually. c'mon now.
The cousin that borrowed them is a fan of oh, what is it. System of a Down. And probably all the rest. Now, if some newbie from PA turns up with SoaD/Trigun videos, I would, actually, have to die laughing and not mind not getting my DVDs back. But the chances of that are very remote. ;)

In other dork news:
Depeche Mode has a crapton of remixes coming out on CD, all in one place. Three discs spanning 1981-2004, and then a 1-CD condensation of some of that stuff.
drool.
a lot.
Even though
1) a lot of the good stuff isn't official and whatnot
2) THERE IS NO "ICE MACHINE" fume... that song owns me so very very much, and it's only on the UK version of their first album and SOB
3) and I already have my personal favorite cut of early-80s techno yum, "Photographic," from their first best-of. If it gets more Modey than that, I've never heard it. I used to play that song to piss off everyone on my dorm floor in college. Ahh, memories. :)

People who are members but don't make videos aren't "leechers," you idiots, they're FANS. People who make videos and don't donate to the site are leechers.
motherfuckers. I really hate the mindset that you have to make videos in order to appreciate them. How many of us have made anime? Enough said.

why I am happy to have finished a video at the end of October:

Last call, people!
The mad dash to finish that last video satisfied my editing cravings; I don't feel particularly driven to work on anything else now. Maybe after the writing project is over.
See you then.

=^_^= and stuff, y0.
I happened to randomly come across "A Song for Everyone" I and II, which are these really cute sets of Fruits Basket mini-AMVs. WhyTF did I download them when I have only seen one episode of the show? The premise sounded cute.
Anyway, I had been leaning toward getting this show, since I've been hearing many good things about it over a long span of time - and I will definitely get it now. There's a fairly big gap coming up in my DVD-buying plans, when I planned to catch up on manga... but I can ...kind of do both. Slowly, anyway.
I hadn't planned on buying any other anime until spring or so, and then go for Fullmetal Alchemist (which, surprisingly, seems like something I'd like - I love character drama and magical stuff) and Piano. I've yapped about Piano before; it's a gentle little slice-of-life show that's just adorable, and it's apparently coming out here in the spring. Yayyyy.
Anyway, where was I? Right, anime purchases. I now have all of Gravitation (obviously) and only have one more disc of Azumanga Daioh to get. The FB anime is apparently only 4 discs long - I thought it was longer than that? - and would probably serve well for my next one-disc-at-a-time purchase.
Oh, it's midnight. I should get some sleep. Hope everyone at AUSA is having fun! Can't wait for pictures. XD

It kinda sucks a little, but it's done. Hoo-rah. I had a lot of fun with this.
Title: The Acceptance Speech
Anime: Gravitation
Song: Avenue Q - If You Were Gay
Genre: Humor (I say humor, you say comedy, you say potato, I say potahto, let's call the whole thing off)
FOUR DAYS, people. And it shows, but eh. I'm not expecting to shatter worlds here.
I think my lip-sync skills will improve after this. ...I hope my lip-sync skills will improve after this. In the meantime, this is a cute little thing which was a lot of fun to make.
Tra-la. Bedtime.
