  • 2005-01-17 22:07:12 Anyway. PREDICTABLY, I have hatched a Furuba idea. (Well, three, but this has the best ring of viability to it.)

It's not devastatingly original, but I want to do it. I think it'd give me the warm fuzzies. However, I'll be going on vacation starting Friday, so production won't start for at least two weeks. This is probably a good idea anyway.

Blargh. This always happens. ;) But this is just how "Life in Death" happened - I finished watching the show and had a song picked out in a couple of weeks that had little more than a vibe-match. But it worked. In my opinion. So we'll see.

(Vibe-match. The lyrics don't necessarily work, but the song and the story have a similar feel/vibe to them.)

    whee.
  • 2005-01-17 21:37:12 AUGH. 1, not 9. Am airhead. Shoot me.

...oh well, at least it's spelled right. -_-

  • 2005-01-14 20:44:07 ...you know though, I do have the worst, worst craving to do a follow-up with "My Girlfriend, Who Lives in Canada." The song is about 1.8 times as funny as IYWG, and I'd enjoy messing with people. The only problem is that it's a bit more crass than I feel comfortable with. Well, we'll see.

(Crass? Ms. Says "Fuck" A Lot? Yes, well.)

    There's always bleeping. Hmm.
  • 2005-01-14 20:11:52 *sighs* Boys, you have a long way to go.

The shounen/shoujo-ai categories WERE stupid, but the reasoning behind the rejection makes me sad.

Good answer: There's no need to single them out; nominate them for romance/drama if you feel you have to.

Bad answer: We don't encourage *those* kinds of videos here. We just put up with them because we're forced to.

Interesting. Many of the oldbies did Utena movie videos, you know. Perspective? Anyone?

I am disappointed in you. I thought you could be grownups about it. Guess not. I still think the categories should have been rejected, don't get me wrong, but the reasoning... is something else entirely. I'd have rejected them for the precise opposite reason that you rejected them. I don't think they have to be singled out as somehow "different" or "special" vs. hetero videos; if they're good, they can hold their own in the general Romance category. They don't need a separate playground; that's a bad message to send.

You not only think they are inherently different, but wish they didn't have to be around. Funny how things work out, huh?

Here's the thing about me. I, seriously, don't see much of a difference between the three. Romance is romance to me, sap is sap, bad videos are bad videos and good videos are good. I'm not on some crusade to promote shounen/shoujo-ai. It's just that I'm one of the few who doesn't see it as different. On either side of the fence. In fact, I don't see a damn fence. This isn't common, and it gets frustrating.

And that's all I have to say about that.
  • 2005-01-13 00:57:52 Well, *I* think it's done!

    Other things:

Bought the Fruits Basket box set this week, am about 10 or 11 episodes in so far and am aaaaabsolutely in love with it. Luckily for you (plural), I have no AMV ideas for it.

Trivia - this purchasing decision was influenced by the "A Song for Everyone" AMVs. True. That makes two box sets I've decided to buy after seeing AMVs, people. There were other factors as well, like hearing good things about it elsewhere, but the fact remains. Recruiting vids work. Oh yes they do.

I will make myself put it off for a while - at LEAST until after my vacation in late January, and leaving time if I'm suddenly and bizarrely seized by a Furuba idea - but I was listening to the edits I made for that upbeat/fast video I'd been thinking of doing. It was a six-minute remix, and I got one version down to 3 minutes and another down to 1:39. The 3-minute version seemed too long and scary, so I had planned on doing the 1:39, but listening to it again... I bet I could manage the 3-minute one. If I wanted to develop any kind of narrative thread at all, or even a series of basic themes or *anything*, I'd need more than 1:39. I'm not that... I can't think of a word. "Terse," only with images.

Economical? Cohesive? Ooh, downloads are done. Ding!
