JOURNAL: SarahtheBoring (Sarah B')

  • 2005-03-06 17:05:01 Stumbled across this, and I want to try it next time:

Someone asked a question on a cosplay community about Trigun - the details on Vash's coat, to be exact - and I realized that the only Trigun reference on my hard drive was my (misbegotten unloved bastard child) AMV. I started it with the sound off, and realized that I noticed shots that I didn't realize I'd even used. And that the beginning is long as hell and kind of boring.

Anyway, point is, I want to try watching with the sound off during some betas or in the polishing stage, so that I don't get distracted by the music. It's an idea.

  • 2005-03-05 23:34:41 Oh, wow. Just... wow. I'd lost the password to my AIM account (which I'd had, mind you, since 1999) several months ago, and I just now figured it out. Eesh! So I'm back to sarahtheboring, although... I don't remember who everyone on my contact list is. Go fig.

Got some help on the forums and over on LJ, and I think we're in business. ^_^ Tried MPEG2Cut (the one based on DVD2AVI, not the other one) and have made a couple of clips so far... I think my computer is still too slow to use AVS in Premiere directly, but that's okay; I know what to do from here, I think. (I've decided that if I have to do work with stills, I'll go back to VDub and grab them from there. Tentatively.)

So thanks, all; this is great. I won't hold you responsible for whatever results. ;)

  • 2005-03-02 23:46:40 I~I'm going to get to do my dre~~~eam video~! Ooooooooh!

Seriously, I've had this crack-brained concept for a fun/upbeat video for oh wow, a year and a half now? Something like that. But the source situation is tricky, and I didn't think I could pull it off. But now I think I can, and the stars are aligning for the source too.

    Hooray for pointlessness!

If I can spare the space on my HD, I may still keep working on the live-action one in the meantime. I've decided that once I get a project to the halfway mark, it will rarely fail; I tend to flop early in the process. So if I apply myself until it starts to fall together, then it won't be so bad.

But first, the time has arrived! This will take a loooong time, especially with four cosplay costumes to make in the meantime, so don't hold your breath. But I'm excited.

    That is all.
  • 2005-02-19 22:25:08 Recommendations YAY!!! OMG, best thing ever.

    done.

On the VCAs, I'm just going to C&P my LiveJournal edit on the subject, because I am lazy.

    ---

Oh thank goodness. "The Acceptance Speech" didn't make it to the finals. I could faint. I'm relieved. It was stressing me a bit; I kept getting really hostile reviews, and I can only assume that it was correlated to the VCAs, since they started when the semifinals started. (To be fair, I got a few more upbeat reviews, but I've never seen such a string of "this sucks, you suck, die" reviews.)

So it was an honor to have one of the, what was it, top 20? 10? comedy AMVs of 2004, especially against competition like AMV Hell one *and* two. But all the same, the semifinals are juuuust peachy with me. I'm a knocked-out-in-the-semifinals kinda gal. Recognition is nice; fierce competition gives me ulcers. So it's all good. Best of luck to all. :)

That about does it. I am, holy crap, editing live-action. And it's fun. And I think I may have screwed up the framerate or deinterlacing or something, but we'll see. But it's fun so far!

I'll be back in anime with #16, sometime in the spring, most likely. I tell myself I'll do something in Fruits Basket or Trigun, but there's YET A-FREAKING-NOTHER Utena idea nibbling at my head, so who knows. I hate to be a one-trick pony, but the artist hasn't been used yet, and I am really tempted. :|

...but I do wanna work with Trigun again. Oh, we'll see.

  • 2005-02-15 22:36:58 Okay, the forum is getting a little much for me at the moment. Going to chill.

Working on a live-action MV right now for a change of pace - let it be known that I was lurking around those groups LONG before it became the hip thing to do so. I told you they were cool! ;) But nobody listens to me, 'cause I'm ... me. Anyway, no AMVs from me for a bit.

For some reason I just tanked with Furuba. Couldn't get any enthusiasm going for any of my ideas. I hope to come back to it sometime, but not just yet.
