Started pulling clips for Collaborative Vid #2. I tend to need, like, 10 seconds per episode, so it wasn't the most effective tactic to keep the whole thing on disc. Especially since there isn't infinite disk space to work with.
The good-er-est thing is that we'll be working on 13th's machine this time, which is SO much faster than mine. It'll be like staying in a swanky hotel for free. Whee.
No, it's not Moxy Fruvous again.
It's short, which is promising, but a little complicated, which is not. It should still be a lot of fun.
WILL our relationship last through this video? :P Damn well better. -

WOOT. Just finished a cosplay commission of Matsumoto Rangiku (a.k.a. Vice-Captain Jugs) for a friend of mine for Otakon. ^___^ Very exciting. I haven't actually finished a cosplay since... ...April 2006? Yeah, I guess it was. Whew.
I owe 3 more people costumes, so I can't celebrate too much yet. heh. I'll still celebrate for a moment. This one was fun - mostly simple but with a few fiddly details - and I got some really nice straw sandals on eBay that I totally envy. ;D Next up, I need to find fabric for one of the 3 slated ones, and ask the other two what they want to do.
Still haven't seen much of the Bleach anime, though. No cable for me; too expensive. I'm reading the manga, and the buyer of this costume is a fan of the anime, so it's kind of a meeting of the two halves. :p I've been balking at buying long-ass series after getting hooked on FMA and Saiyuki. Can I just get the parts with Ishida? No? Damn...
...Firefox's new (?) inherent spell-check doesn't recognize any of this stuff. Actually, no: it recognizes "Matsumoto" as a name, but it doesn't recognize "anime" or "manga." Heheheh.
AMVs, right, um... making "junk files" (AVI copies because my computer can't handle editing straight through AVS) is taking an unusually long time. I only have to do it once, so it's not so bad, but it is slowing things down a bit. So no progress yet. That's OK; switching gears is good for a while. As long as I don't change my mind while the prep work is going on. -

I don't donate *much* here, to be honest, but over time, even a little builds up to look bigger than it really is. I was a little skeeved by the total until I remembered that I've spent over half that amount on Bleach manga alone.
D'oh. ^_^;
What's silly is that my biggest spending phase - c. 2004, right about when Utena, Azumanga, and Gravi were all coming out on DVD here at the same time - I made even less money than I do now, and I didn't look for bargains *at all.* That's more scary than dropping pocket change a couple of times a year so the kids can keep talking on Skype or whatever it is that this place is for.
OT: We're out of Otakon. Too late, plus fucked up the forms. Big "duh" moment. Oh well, it's for the best, IMO. I don't think we're going to sell anywhere else until next Tekkoshocon, but we *might* do one of the little Ohio cons. First of all, I have to clear my freaking cosplay slate. I owe costumes to five people right now, and that isn't fun. One is almost done, at least. -

(-) I had to cancel my birthday party because nobody wanted to come. I mention this because it's entertaining, and because if I talked about it anywhere else, I'd get "poor baby" bullshit reactions. You can't reply to these, ergo, no BS. So, there's your bit of schadenfreude for the day.
(+) I think the better encode is working. I don't know because my computer is too retarded to play it. I feel bad saying that, because my dad built me this thing as a gift, and I don't want to be an ingrate. But it's still shameful and embarrassing, so I am feeling ambivalent.
Especially because soon I won't be able to pursue this hobby at all, and that's a bummer. I've always sucked at it, but it's always been fun. ...Actually, I can't pursue this hobby NOW; I'm just in denial about it, because I really don't want to worry about escapism. It seems assbackwards to do that. So... denial it is, for now.
Otherwise...
(-) The family is using me as an excuse to have a barbecue / outside party that is REALLY just to show off their newly improved backyard. This is depressing as hell.
(+) I still get free stuff. Including, rumor has it, a DS Lite.
(-) Five years after everyone else got them and stopped playing them.
(+) I don't care. I use handhelds on my commute (mass transit, obviously, not driving) so I get a LOT of use out of them.
And, of course,
(+) at least we'll have a real, usable encode of our video by the end of the week. - 2007-05-24 22:42:36 Urgh. In my frustration I mis-stated. I can EXPORT it, but I can't COMPRESS it. Sorry, all the wailing and gnashing of teeth made me mix up my terminology.
