LIVERPOOL 2 MIDDLESBROUGH 0
2001-12-08 12:15:07
Saturday December 08 2001
Liverpool reinforced their position as Premiership leaders with a 2-0 win over Middlesbrough.
Their dominance was almost total at times as they maintained possession in a style that would even have impressed Barcelona.
This was as good a performance as Liverpool have put in all season, their desire and determination on a different level to Boro's.
Michael Owen got them on their way in the 27th minute, with his 99th goal in 179 games for the club and his 20th in 21 matches for club and country this season.
Patrik Berger made it 2-0 seconds before the break, and from then on there was never any chance of an upset.
The home side left Steven Gerrard and Emile Heskey on the bench and gave Vladimir Smicer the day off.
It meant a starting place for Jari Litmanen, only his seventh of the season, and a chance for Patrik Berger and Gary McAllister in midfield.
Reds goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek did not have a save to make in the first half.
Boro started like a side who had not conceded a goal in three matches, calm and controlled in defence, but they found themselves penned in by Liverpool's grafting when not in possession.
Boro's cause was not helped by a head injury to Mark Crossley, in the side because of Mark Schwarzer's international duty and injury.
But the Welsh international's bravery cost him dearly on 16 minutes. Crossley hurled himself out at a swirling Owen ball from the left, and crashed into Gary McAllister's outstretched leg.
It was a perfectly legal challenge by the Scot, who showed instant concern for Crossley, who needed several minutes treatment before being carried off on a stretcher with his head heavily bandaged, Marlon Beresford coming on in goal.
And it did not take long for Liverpool to go ahead, surging away as they cleared a corner to take the lead on 27 minutes.
John Arne Riise, Danny Murphy and then Berger set up Owen 25 yards out, and the striker unleashed a searing drive past Beresford's dive to his left.
And in the four minutes of injury time for Crossley, Liverpool hit their second when Berger lashed a fine 20-yarder home after an excellent build-up involving McAllister and Litmanen.
Coach Steve McClaren knew something had to be done, and Boro took off Nemeth and Allan Johnston at the break and sent on Hamilton Ricard and Mark Wilson.
Dudek was eventually called into action. The Pole made his first save of the match, smartly by his near post after Boksic had spun away from Sami Hyypia.
Liverpool had so much of the ball at times, you felt a bit sorry for Boro.
They could barely get the ball and Liverpool were content to pass it around constantly.
With 15 minutes left, Owen was replaced by Heskey - his century being saved for another day.

New thoughts about "Todays' Parents part deux"
2001-12-07 09:17:17
I've thought over it and realise i shouldn't be such a wimp and live with it. Here i am coaxing and pestering pple to buy the policies and there i am moaning and whining about something i always had a choice on.
LIVE with it. This is the sales industry, no matter what, nobody can sell you something you dun want. Just know what you need and learn to say no, at the same time dun reject what you dun even know abt. "What i dun know must be bad" mentality is the bane of inventism. Alright, i dunno what i am saying.
Peace out.
p.s ( i can't believe i posted 3 entries in a day...i actually love writing journals )

Beginning of complain
This must be the ten billionth time someone has used my email address to subscribe to porn. Enough is enough, i can't stop them but i can complain !!! Those sites have gotta have a better way of authorising those jokers and not allow anyone to use anybody's address to subscribe to pron or whatever shitty stuff. I'm not saying i'm the kind who finds pron sickening and puke at the sight of an overesposed cleavage. I'm not anywhere near that ..ok?? (Ooopssss) ...i just dun want the unwanted surprise of downloading such mails while my mum is looking over my shoulders. Getmypoint ??
End of complain

Today's Parents part deux
2001-12-07 07:16:34
I can't believe i let her talk me into it!! She is good!! Coz getting me to (i'm too embarrased to talk about it) is prob like getting Bush to shake hands with Bin Laden.
I've learnt some useful techniques in getting sales but at a HIGH price...
Ok she's cute, has a kiny name (Winise)and a good talker but even then i shldn't have allowed her to talk me into it. I guess i'm really a sucker for pretty faces...
the way this is going ...anyone who looks like Winona Ryder can prob talk me into jumping oiff westin stamford...this is not good.. (pauses to scratch head)
Business is not so good today but i managed to get the names of a few really interested prospects. I even got this lady to go with me to the Prudential booth. And they say when you do that..the deal's 99% done ..i really hope so..even though she's opting for a $40 per month premium plan ( whch means a meagre $20 per month for the first year ). Her daugther's really cute though. She's 27 months old btw ....so i do really mean CUTE. and she's the first 27 month old infant have seen who can utter a complete sentence..amazingly "there's bubble on your hands" she really said that. Wow! I owe it to the Jolly guy Golfin Chong who taught me a lot of things even though he's not from prudential... thanx Golfin !!I also have a very good boss. Not like the demon manager my fren had.
Kids love bubbles. I'm UTTERLY , COMPLETELY, TOTALLY convinced. They couldn't stop playing bubbles and when they had one bottle, they wanted more. (start of advert..Prudential..always listening ..always understanding..*bubbles start flowing* ok thats getting bo liao)
Nothing too interesting today...except we ( the 3 of us) gotten some lecturing from david for geting too close to the AIA girls. Especially if they are not part of the AIA agency who paid $1000 per booth per day ( we did too ) . In other words..even though AIA and prudential had booths in the hall..onli agents who belong to the agency who actually booked the booth are allwoed to do their sales...the girls (ok women) are in other words free-riders (read: leeches). No wonder they were so eager to talk to us (so they look like they are part of our agency). Man ....be careful of women ...what they want..they get. :P
Wilsona and I left at ard 6 as we didn see much point to carry on. Once the gift-giving session (by todays' parents magazine) were over..the parents start leaving. However i'm still cheesed off by the fact that Winise did a turnover on me.

Todays' Parents
2001-12-06 09:18:18
I was exceptionally nervous today. Just a day after completing the first phase of my AIMS1 (agents intensive modular system) and having to go through AIMS2 next week, i had to 'sell' in the quite hostile atomsphere of the 'TODAYS' PARENTS' exhibition in Suntec Convention center..just directly below where i took my exams onli weeks ago. Fortunately, it is easier than i thought. All i had to do is give away cute looking bubble bottles ( they are reallly cool ...i had childern pestering me for it all day long ) and get data from the parents (their names , contact number and such) so i can call them up in future and maybe clinch a deal or two.
But the thought of describing the Prudential products to them still bothered me a little since i onli completed the product course (i would have talked a lot about it if i had started my journal yesterday...it is great..i shant say why in case someone i know reads this ) yesterday. I was on the ball from the start..getting 20 names in a jiffy. I even had time to go to the other booths and try out their special services(those oxygen breathing thing....alright it is becoz those girls look cute as peaches)
But then i had my share of fun dealing with kids and their parents...One kid was really clever. After noting where i kept my bubble bottle..he keeps sneaking up on them and grabbing handful f bottles and running away..in a while he's back with his fellow terrorists .
They remind me of what i was before.
Me, Wilson and (whatshisname ) decided to try our luck outside the hall (its alwasy good to grab the prospects early...as in before they even enter the hall). We were soon joined by this jolly man and his 2 rather ok-looking but also bubble-crazy collegues who were all really fun to talk to since we are all in sales. 1 thing to note: i have become more aggressive and confident after approaching 40 odd parents today..i could have gotten more since the exhibition closes at 9 but i decided to return home early. Its a good experience. Gosh , i have written so much junk..i wouldn't even bother to check the spelling ..why ? Nobody's gonna read it except me ..or maybe busybodies like YOU ..hahaha
