Well I broke down and I bought more anime. I bought 8 brand new volumes of Kenshin (for a cheap price on eBay), Perfect Blue, and the 2nd season boxset of Fushigi Yugi (got that off Half.com for a good price too). I am trying to wean myself off HK bootlegs and the like. But it is oh-so-painful. At least my mother is going to reimburse me for my textbooks this semester. At least I feel honest now. Oh yes I also preordered the End of Eva DVD from Best Buy. They had it for 19.99 and free shipping. YAY. LAst night (and the day before for that matter) I was in the pits so I didn't do any homework. Just worked on my video while downloading some wallpapers and music. I must admit that I have become an anime wallpaper/image addict. As for my video, I am happy to say that I am almost in the home stretch. I figured out what I want to do with the remaining "empty spots". Now its just a matter of getting things to look the way I want. I can't wait until my brother comes home from school for Columbus day weekend. I am going to make him sit down and watch anime with me. As my older brother, I consider it to be his obligation to be an anime companion for his younger sister since she doesn't have any one else to share the experience with. I know he will like the Eva movies. I can't wait to see his reaction to Shinji's "scene" at the beginning of Rebirth though . He's gonna kill me for not warning him. Hehehe...Well I need to do some reading and other dumb college stuff.
Just wanted to mention that I finally got to see Inu Yasha on adult swim last Saturday. Looks good. Just thought it was strange (and funny) though. They were being attacked by...hair -

I don’t know why but I feel happy this morning. Maybe because I am going to bid on multiple Kenshin DVD's on eBay and I WILL win the auctions. And I might also bid on the Fushigi Yugi second season boxset. I got an HK import for the first season but now I feel bad for buying bootlegs so I am trying to reform. I might get the first season boxset too if the bidding is low enough. I think I have mentioned this before but I really do hate it when people start bidding on stuff early. Don't people know that it just drives the price up? Sure it benefits the seller and eBay, but it sure as hell doesn't benefit the bidders. I usually wait until the last few minutes of the auction to bid. Sometimes other people have the same idea as me and it becomes a sort of "Survival of the fastest bidder". I don't mind that actually. But bidding 5 days before the auction is over is not going to win you the auction (unless it is something that NOBODY else wants). With the Buy It Now option its a whole different story of course.
As for my video, I worked on it last night after I did my homework which is a great accomplishment for me because I am the world's biggest procrastinator. Usually I would have worked on my video until I fell asleep and my homework would have to be done the next morning. I think I am finally getting the hang of this thing called "time management" and "self control". It only took me 18 years to learn.
I can't seem to get the beginning of the first verse to look right. Getting the intro to look just the way I wanted it to was bad enough. I redid the intro at least 20 times (I stopped counting after 20). But at least now most of the video is done. About 90% of it is all laid out . I have to lay out the last 10% on the timeline and then tweak everything until it looks nice :-) I am actually cheating right now because I am doing alot of tweaking instead of finishing what needs to be done.
But I can't stress enough the fact that I am happy with what I have right now (mostly). During the first 100 hours of editing I hated this video and I thought about just thrashing it and doing something else. But I am glad I stuck it out. Mainly the reason for my frustrations was that I had alot of different ideas but I didn't know how to execute them. So at the beginning I spent alot of time banging my head against the wall and sobbing because I couldn't figure out how to do this thing or that. I am not the type of person that likes to ask for help with something that I know I could figure out myself with time (not to mention the fact that I have recently become terribly shy). Hmm
Well I am off to get ahead on some of my homework before my first class (which is at 2:30 and it is 9:30). I am at the college library now, since my dad dropped me off here at about 7:45. I like to get on campus early, even when I don’t have classes until later. If I were to stay home, I would probably just sleep or watch anime and perhaps even cut class. But since now I get here so early, I don’t have the inclination to cut class so much and I have time to actually get work done (sometimes even get things done early) so when I get home I am free to do whatever I want. This is turning out to be actually a lot better than procrastinating.

I feel like having a Snickers. But I will resist the urge. I am terrible addicted to food. I think the addcition matches my addiciton for anime. Food and anime. What a wonderful mix. And they share smiliar qualities. Eating too much food will make me fat. Likewise, wathcing too mcuh anime will probably make me fat too if I just sit there (and if I eat while watching the result doubles). Buying alot of food makes me broke. Buying lots of anime makes me broke. But there is one big obvious difference . Anime (and non edible anime related merchandise) at least lasts longer than a box of Ms. Fields cookies would. I can watch anime over and over, provided I haven't seen it in a movie theatre or something like that. Food, on the other hand cannot be eaten over and over again, unless I throw it up after I eat it and then I proceeded to consume it again (I know I just ruined someone' appetite). Anyway, it is easier for me to resist food than to resist anime. If I ever fall in love it will have to be with someone who shares my addciton so we can sympathize with each other and get our fixes together. And damnit, why don't they freaking have a Kenshin boxset? I have the first season but its not the R1 release. Being the noble anime fan that I am, I am going to buy the R1 release but jeez. They could have at least put the first season in a box set evenm if they haven't finished releasing the whole 3 seaons (last time I checked). Well hopefully they will soon. I am dying to see the second season so I might just go ahead and buy the DVDs and if a box set comes out in the future, I'll just sell the individual DVD's I had or something. I gotta say, buying the legit releases sure is a bittersweet process. I imagine how much I would pay if I bought the import and it makes me wanna cry. But then I think about how I am supporting the anime industry and that makes me happy. I go through this process everytime. I went through it yesterday when I bought Eva Death and Rebirth. Ahh crap I think I have procrastinated enough. I have homework to do before my next class. Just one more thing..
My Escaflowne video is almost done. Hmm. It should be done by the end of the year. LOL. Yea, knowing me, it will take me another 3 months to finish this video . I have already spent over 3 months working on it. I'd say more than 120 hours have been invested in this (I spent my summer vacation at home, everyday so I had alot of time to work on it). But alot of it was used for getting to know After Effects, and getting to know Premiere a little more. After this video I won't consider myself a newbie anymore. Even if people don't like it, it won't matter because for myself it was all worth. After this I can go back and redo the videos I had done before this video and make them better. Also, watching alot of other people's videos has also taught me alot. I only have dialup, but during the last couple of weeks I have downloaded a lot of videos . Since my brother is away at school and we don't have to fight over the interent, I leave my computer on all night and let the videos download while I sleep. When I am finally done with my esca video, I have quite alot of reviews to write. And after this video is done, I don't know where to go from there. I can do an unoriginal video (kinda like a a tribute to a bunch of characters from this one anime) or I can do videos for a couple of original ideas I have come up with. A few ideas I am surprised that no one has done but I guess I am glad because that gives me the opportunity to make them myself. But I won't kid myself and say that these ideas are within the scope of my ability because at this point in time I would say that they aren't. I might just do a few other videos to give myself some more experience first.
Ewww I must go do homework now :-( - Premiere...No not Adobe Premiere, Cowboy Bebop Premiere!! 2002-08-31 00:36:33 Time is now 12:29 am (according to the clock next to me which is running about 15 minutes fast) and I just got home from the Cowboy Bebop Premiere. Since I hadn't seen it at all before (enever got the fansub) I gotta see, I thought it was great. My opinion of course. But WOW. My dad liked it too. And Yoko Kanno is so damn cute!!! Umm I guess that is all I am gonna write because I want to start packing for the convention tomorrow. I will update either tomorrow before I leave or during the weekend if I find a computer somewhere in the hotel but defintely when I come back on Monday. OH MAN I LOVE LIVING IN NY!
- 2002-07-29 20:29:43 GRRRRRR For the last 8 days I was without my beloved computer because I had to send it to get repaired because the Cd Burner was acting strange ( it was broken). Thank God I had a warranty because for some stupid reason they had to replace the WHOLE freakin computer. Now that would have been fine with me if they could have just taken my hard drive and stuck it in the new one. But NO they couldn.t, and they charge me $50 for a data transfer that didn't even get all of my files transfered. Now I gotta start all over with this computer. At least they have all my adobe project files. I just have to re-download the DVD ripping software I had, all my codecs, some mp3's that didn't get transfered. Not to mention all my bookmarks, my emails, and some oher stuff. But at least now I can get back to work on my vid.
