  • Desperation pays off... 2005-03-01 04:45:47 *sigh*

    Just in... managed to push it in on the date (February 28)...

    I swear... I thought I should try the other internet connections that I know of because the one I usually use for ftp stuff (my friends one), was the slowest. I was uploading a fairly size heavy file so I thought it made sense to use faster connections...

    But damn it, it took about 4 different computers to realise in the end that I should have gone back to my friends place like I usually do. The first computer that I used was behind some sort of firewall... So I went to the computer that was the gateway to the rest of the network, and hence I was able to connect. This meant nothing though for everytime I tried to upload it usually died at around 1%.

    That was when I had the bright idea of going to the university connections. And man are the connections speeds phenominally fast there... Optical cables are always great... But wouldn't you know it, the bloody network needs a new driver in order to connect to remote ftp locations.

    So I went to another friend's place which I had thought would be the most stable (apart from friend number 1 who I mentioned). Went there, connected, started uploading and huzaah... it made it to 80%. The internet was indeed stable... but his computer was not. Froze right there. I tried one more time in it, but frustration was the only result.

    So there I was desperate and the only image in my mind was Mr Burns looking down on Homer as he says, "Come crawling back, ey?"

    And that was the story of how I finally got my video uploaded to Sakura Con's server. A story that I will not soon forget... A story that has taught me one very good lesson... GET YOUR OWN BROADBAND INTERNET!

    Well, that means that my latest video will debuting here soon enough... I just want to see where this leads first.

  • Desperation seeps in 2005-02-25 12:58:33 Oh my gosh... I have till about Monday to bloody get this video in. I have not spent over 2 months from idea to final rendering just to let this go to waste.

    Sakura con entry is closing. And I have yet to upload my video to their ftp server. I have tried to do this now about 4 times and every single time I end up not getting everything in. The most I've ever gotten in at one time is 80% of the video, which still makes it totally useless...

    Oh my gosh the pain, the pain of it all...

    Desperate times. I must find some fast internet connection somewhere in the next couple of days. And beg like hell to let me hog their entire bandwidth for the duration of my upload.

    That is the only way. I am screwed. 
  • Latest one finished 2005-01-31 06:04:13 Next up Sakura Con...

    My latest AMV which I purpose built for submission to Sakura Con's AMV competition is finally finished. Actually, I've had it finished for almost 3 weeks now but with the announcement of the submission date being extended I sort of decided it could still do with a bit of tweaking here and there...

    Now I know how George Lucas feels :p (but that still does not excuse his butchering of the Star Wars movies).

    I guess I should also mention that my video Talk To Me (Midori no Hibi) has now been entered into the Platinum AMV Contest. I haven't heard a confirmation of my entry yet though, which is kind of worrying since I have just entered it only with 2 days to spare... Oh well, entries close today and I hope it turns out well... Vote for me there :p

    Thank you risachantag (Lisa Rye) because you just made my day, hahahahaha...

    And I thought it couldn't get any better after Talk To Me won the AMV competition in the Perth Anime Convention. Hmm... I guess it doesn't matter if one person or a crowd likes something you made... I feel the same kind of gooeyness for both... That's why I am here I guess...  
  • Almost over... 2005-01-13 11:15:49 Sakura-con is going to be closing its submission of AMVs in about a months time... but I can't help but get this video up and ready, since I am still in holiday anyway and I have nothing to do most of the time (still looking for a job :p)...

    And yeah, it's almost over... I just need some final glossing over of the effects, some minor tweaking with my codec quality settings, maybe opinions or two from fellow AMV artists that are coming over my place this Sunday for a barbeque... hmm... it should be all good...

    My second action video will be this one... but in terms of doing an action video just for the sake of making an action video then this will be indeed my first real try at it... go and see my "Reason" video if you want to know what I mean... I've always thought of me as a sentimentalist type of guy... and so I guess I couldn't help but sap this video up :p
