Frustrations of the sleep deprived
2006-11-04 20:29:23
So I was up late last night, ruining my ploys at regaining a healthy sleeping habbit. I was up very late because of the Madman 10th Anniversary online sale where every DVD in their back catalogue was going for an insane $10... for 10 hours only. What the Madman people didn't take into account that their servers was going to be swamped by a multitude of hungry otakus drooling over the idea of cheap anime.
So it took maybe 20 minutes of refreshing the page to get one item into my shopping basket. Finally I got all of the things I wanted in there. I wasn't exactly going to do the purchase myself because I got my friend to actually order in for me, however I did it anyway in the off-chance that I had better luck than they did. Thing though is that I sat there for a while not finalising my purchase because my friends seemed to have gone offline and hence I didn't know whether I was in a better position or if they have already even finished buying for me.
And then tragedy struck at about 3:30 in the AM.
The servers now, not only were timing out but were completely cankered. No connections at all anymore. This must have continued for about 10 minutes, but of course as the interweb gods would have it as a cruel joke, soon as I was able to squeeze in to the website again, I see that the DVDs in my shopping basket have now been erased. Back to square one.
After that, and realising that the world was starting to spin due to my need of sleep, I thought, "screw this, I'm going to bed."
I just hope my friends had better luck than I did and got my DVDs -_-

That sounded a bit ungrateful. Hehe, anyway, what I'm trying to say is, my prizes from Sakura con have finally arrived (6 months later)!!!

What am I doing here?
Oh no, another place where I am sucked into a forum...
I spend way to much time already at those other anime and convention forums, and now I'm this place where anime music videos are made. The only thing that I crave as much as anime are anime music videos, and I spend as much time making these videos as much as I watch anime. And now, I'm doomed for being here...
But then again, perhaps that's just my subconscious saying, hey this is your calling in life, the arts, the proliferation of things beautiful and inspirational... not that university degree in telecommunications engineering you were pressured into doing.
And then, there's my writing. Of late, I've put that on hold, even though I know in my heart of hearts that that is where I shall achieve immortality. Time is my enemy, always running away, never waiting. Perhaps I'm just too slow and time would have claimed my life before my creative spirit catches up and makes me the talk of the generation. Then again, aren't a lot of the great artist found after their immenent demise?
*sigh
Depressing? Yes, but...
I feel a sense of hope for the future inhabitants of this planet. My memory will keep them within reach of the stars which lie in the grip of inifinity. And it just so happens...
I am Infinity Squared. "

... it's like riding a bike.

It's been a while, but I guess once you did it the first time, you never forget how it's done. You remember how it all felt, pushing all the right buttons, making yourself feel good at the same time. Yeah, it's been a while since my last journal post.
^_^
Yeah, ok, sorry to leave out something potentially juicy but I'm not much of a chauvinist. Anyway, I might as well use this opportunity to make a semi-serious journal post that *gasps* actually contains stuff about AMVs!
Anyway, I'll break things down in terms of the project, and many there's many. Trouble is, I haven't edited anything tangible in a while ever since before Manifest. I guess you could say I've just had my overdose of AMVs since then.
First up, the Aussie MEP. A creation in the Amvience forums, with, well, a theme of using audio from Australian sources. There's a whole mix of things there, but generally, it should end up with a unique flavour. I've got to do 2 tracks there, one being the introduction which I wanted to use Lano and Woodley song, and the other is a trailer from The Castle. Both of which I can't seem to find the audio for. So I'm partly screwed. No worries though since release date is not till late January for Australia day :P
Next thing is Mecha Mania. Maybe I shouldn't have taken this other MEP on. It won't be too hard I guess, and I already have an audio idea too. But, well, it's another thing to pile on the list. Meh, we'll see how this goes. I haven't quit a MEP yet and I already have the source video for this anyway.
Next, is Anime Academy Heroes - the Second Raid. I'm still stuck. I've decided I won't be able to get an audio better suited than the one that I made. It's not perfect, but then again I didn't intend for AAH2 to be super perfect either. I just want it done. But the problem is now that I haven't been able to click together the anime sources I wanted to use yet. I've got flashes of one or two but nothing definite. It'll be done in time for the original AAH to be turning one year old... I think.
Then there's the latest thing I want done. Well, actually, I'm not sure. This latest project just popped into my list no more than a couple of weeks ago as something I'd want to submit to Wai-con in December. I think it's doable, but quite frankly I didn't just want to send something to Wai-con that was just in the "doable" range. But plans have also changed since then, as in I won't be attending Wai-con this year as I originally planned. I don't think I'll get enough money in time.
The other project I'm also working in is my Suzumiya video, which I originally intended for Wai-con, and might still send in if I get it done in time. Trouble is, this one is definitely gonna take its time. This is probably my most flashiest video to date, which meant that I wanted to have had a new computer by now to edit it on. But as life would have it, I don't yet have that monster new setup to pull this off. I can labour away in my dated equipment, but that'll mean it won't be done in time for Wai-con. Oh well, send to AICon in February instead I guess. I think this video is the one to look out for from my releases soon.
Finally there's Piyush Juneja 2. I don't want to name it that, but it'll have to suffice for the time being. I need my dance MEP fix I think, and since ROS3 wasn't that, I'll have to make sure PJ2 will be rocking hard! I think I'll try to steal away the project management of this from OropherZero (I already told him I wanted to do it). bluetrain seems to have one or two good ideas too for the song mix. I need to learn to do things in h264 because I want this to end up uber quality.
And that it's for now... I think. Boy that's a lot of things to do, but what else do I do with my time these days. Oooh, that reminds me, time to play Civilisations.
