  • Writer's Block = The evil 2004-08-28 13:13:07 have you ever had one of thsoe days where you just can't think of anything creative? I have those about 10 months out of the year. Yes, the dreaded writers block... known to AMV artists as Creator's Block. As you could probably learn from reading my profile, I not only make AMV's, but I write fanfictions as well (I also do fan art but I am lacking a scanner, but if I had one they too would be on the web.) Well, 8 fanfictons of mine have been underway for almost a year... They would be done sooner if I had more inspiration. This is probably partically due to the fact that school and now work (Yes, I got a new job...) is cutting into my free time.

Luckily, I have a small AMV idea that might just get me going again. As my Rurouni Kenshin AMV is postponed due to the fact that I am loaning them to someone, I believe I shall have to due an Inuyasha AMV instead to Insane Clown Posse's "The Great Milenko". It might even been the first AMV I post on this site.

As for my fics. I'm afriad they're going to have to suffer through until I can find some time to work on them.
  • Ugh... School... The Temple of Hell... 2004-08-17 16:50:32 Well, yippe for all Omaha students... School has started to once again to pull us into the great void that is boredom. My year however will be somewhat interesting as I am taking classes that do spark my interests (i.e. Japanese, World History, Drawing, Fitness Swimming.) As this is the first day of school I won't have any homework, therefore time to do my next AMV. Unfortunately this AMV has to be riggerously planned as I don't have the GB on my computer to hold all my Kenshin episodes AND my Inuyasha and other misc. files on my computer.

I'm going to have to burn some CD's in order to clear up more GB, as I have a really large music collection on my computer. (Music pirating. A great bane if you use it wrong but otherwise a great nesseity with the right software and when you're only downloading certain files.) I would never have to use software like Kazaa Lite or WinMX if I had the money to buy the DVD's needed for my AMV's... and if I had the money to buy DVD ripping software. Unfortunately, that's one of the downfalls of losing ones job and being in the process of looking for another one, very limited money resources.

Anyway, school I'm hoping is going to be good to me this year. Expecially in math, which I LOATHE!! Advanced Algebra is going to be my ultimate bane. Unfortunately, one has to take a certin number of years in a class in order to graduate, which sucks. Oh well... I guess I'll have to slide by on C's again... unless I get my imagination under control... Like that's ever going to happen.

And if anyone can let me know of good servers where I can make my website, drop me an e-mail.
  • Making AMV's 101 2004-08-16 15:20:41 As a creator of AMV's (although not with very good effects, remember, all I'm able to work with is Window Movie Maker), I enjoy watching other people's AMV's in order to help me think of ways to make my AMV's better, and to see which AMV ideas have already been taken. Several ideas I have come up with on my own have already been taken so I have had to scratch them off my idea list. Scary thing is, one of the AMV's actually used the same footage I was going to use if I did it. Scary, no?

However, one thing that particually bothers me is the fact that amature AMV makers, who are so caught up in their dream of making AMV's do not get to know their software first. For example, I had just downloaded an AMV from a P2P provider created using footage of Shippo from Inuyasha to the song "When I Grow Up" by Garbage. As I was a fan of both, I downloaded it thinking it was going to be another great Inuyasha AMV. (I've never downloaded one that was bad.)

Unfortunately, this potentially great AMV was ruined by the fact the creator did not get to know the software (in this case Window Movie Maker), which showed through the fact he/she was unable to turn off the audio from the show. You could hear the characters talking through the music. This bothered me so much I deleted the video in its entirety. (sp?)

I am not saying this to be self centered and mean. I am only pointing out the needed fact that one should get to know one's video editing software before making and/or saving the movie file. And I am sure to point out the fact I have made the same mistake, and am only hoping to help future creators realize that they need to get to know their software before they create AMV's, a fact they need to know in order to make videos that other viewers, not just themselves, will enjoy.
  • So the Hunt Begins... 2004-08-15 20:55:45 As I had mentioned before, I had lost my job. And Friday... the job hunt started. As such, I doubt I'll be able to work on any of my current AMV ideas. But as the school year draws ever closer in order to suck all of its victims into its vile depths... I'm sure I'll be able to finish my Japanese homework rather easily and be able to work on my Rurouni Kenshin AMV (Now that I have the entire series).

Back to the job search... I need to find a place where I won't always have to work the friggin' register. It was the register that lost me may first job... That and just standing there was pretty damn boring. I was actually GLAD to get restocking duty a few times. So, I am hoping of getting a job at Best Buy, which will not only get me a position where I don't have to work the register, but I'll be able to get discounts on computer software, music, games, and anime, which may be able to help me create better AMV's. Let's just hope that during my interview if they ask why I was fired from PETsMART they'll believe that if my supervisor was in a different position she would gladly hire me back.
  • Pain and Suffering... 2004-08-11 23:10:05 Well... I sorta wish this wasn't my first jounral entry but I felt I needed to get it off my chest.

I lost my job at PETsMART. I knew I had screwed up when I had lost that hundred and didn't notify anybody about it, but I didn't know it would cost me my job. Oh well... live and learn.

It'll probably take me a while in order to bring myself to get out there and apply for a new job, beings I loved my job, although I kinda wished I wouldn't have to just stand around as much as I had. Being a cashier is pretty damn boring if it's a slow day and no customers, and all you're doing is standing there and looking pretty.

I was actually on the verge of telling them to switch me to the Small Animals department when they fired me. I prefer being around animals more then people anyway, which is why I liked my job because I was talking with people who loved animals as much as I do.

Anyway, I guess I'll have to mail my work shirt, my name tag, and other misc. things back as soon as I locate a box and write my ex-manager, Sandy a letter of apology for doing a half-assed job about that hundred.
