JOURNAL: catystorm (Catie Storm)

  • Wow. 2003-02-27 15:22:10 It seems that the song "Bring Me to Life" by Evanscense is going to be the next overused song. Dammit. Ah, well...I'm still gonna finish the video I started with it, because I don't see one for this show. ^___^x;
  • Grr. Projector woes, and other anime club bullshit. 2003-02-27 15:16:31 So, apparently when we took the projector for Miyazaki night, everything went well. Since it was over President's Day weekend, we weren't able to return it until Tuesday. The people there took the projector with no problem whatsoever.

    Yesterday, it seemed that our sponser (Kwak-sensei) got a call from the library saying that the projector and the screen were overdue. What the hell? Greg (our secretary and the person who returned both) went over there today to explain that we'd already returned the projector and screen...and the screen was already there. Problem solved, right?

    Well, our club president sent out an e-mail after Greg's that was a little bit on the testy side, and wanted all the officers to contact her about this so the situation can be resolved. Now wait just a damned minute. Since when is the library's error my problem? I wasn't in charge of the screen, another officer was. So why do I have to get bitched out over it? It was neither mine nor Stevie's problem...it was in Greg's hands to return the materials on time (which he did). So what issue needs to be addressed? Every time I call her about club business, it normally degenerates into her babbling on about the latest anime or how far she's in .hack//Infection.

    Last night, we had our 'business' meeting (which normally consists of the officers and a few others who felt like wandering over to hang), in which there wasn't any real business to discuss. In fact, Jeri spent the whole time reading her Newtype. Even when we were trying to talk to her. This rankled me a bit, because I've gotten chewed out by Nicole for telling a story during the meeting which Jeri interupted. Because, you know, you've got to show the president respect, even if that means she butts in in the middle of *you* talking.

    Well, to be honest, Jeri didn't butt in. She raised her hand so we all could notice, and was waiting for me to finish up. Unlike Nicole, who contiuned intrupting me like we couldn't notice Jeri or something.

    There are some serious problems with the anime club. And I'm going to inherit them if Jeri actually does go to Japan in April. I don't like dealing with anime club stuff because knowing Jeri, she's either already done it or is attempting something else. Once she's gone it will be easier because I'll *want* to deal with the stuff. For some reason it's easier for me to deal with the club as a whole when she's not involved anymore.

    Oh, shit. What *is* the challenge this week? *scrabbles for the schedule*
  • Stupid Macs. 2003-02-25 07:54:25 So, I'm at the library, blogging in my not-blog because for some reason or the other, blogger.com doesn't believe I exist. o_Ox;;

    I'm on a Mac, which I generally don't like. I'm used to every other sort of computer imaginable, but the ones with the scanners are full, an I hope on with the thought 'hey, I can do this! I'm smart!"

    I think I broke the scanner on this computer. -_-x;;

    Woke up this morning at an ungodly hour, as usual. Went to the bathroom. Thought 'gee, it looks kinda funny outside through the glass, and opened the window.

    Yeah, we got like two inches of snow, and they hadn't even plowed yet. Joy. Trudged to class. Turns out we didn't have it. Decided to stop by the library and scan my wealth of pen-and-ink sketches. Yeah, that ain't happening anytime soon.

    Graugh.

    I want my wolfies. ;_;x
  • Bah. 2003-02-24 21:59:16 So, after cruising around for a bit, I realized people actually use these journals for things other than AMV-related. Good to know. Now I can bitch about life. ^_^x;

    So, tomorrow I have evil classes. Like Ant 120 at 8 a.m. And then Eng 212 at 9:30 a.m. Why the hell did I schedule classes that early? I am a creature of the night. I don't do mornings.

    Been on a rather creative streak lately. Done a lot of work for my new Pokemon fanficton project, Contingency. ( Contingency: Akai and Contingency: Niji are both listed on Fanfiction.Net under the username Catalina Storm.) I'm enjoying this a lot, and I'm having fun with character designs yet again. My favorites of the ten Niji members are Akai, Rich and Midori. Akai's kickass and angsty, Rich acts like a normal college loon and Midori's just fun. Considering that this is a story set in the Pokemon universe, I really haven't used many Pokemon, save for Inazuma, the token pikachu. And she's really...nonexistent in the grand scheme of things. Hrm. It's odd. Maybe if I revise the concepts a tad, I could prod it into another original property and try to market it. Hrm hrm hrm.

    I need to teach myself how to draw, it would solve a lot of problems.

    Had a creative spurt at work on Saturday, as well. Giving that I man the front desk of a dorm for seven hours on a Saturday night (this is a suitcase college, everyone who has a car goes home on the weekends except for those of us without lives), not much goes on. I think the biggest thing of the night was the drunk guy puking down the garbage chute on the eleventh floor, and that wasn't my problem until I got off work. (I live across the hall from the garbage chute on the eleventh floor. Yummy.) So I drew a bunch. Decided I like the sketchy way my pictures come out when I draw in pen. Doodled about seven pages worth ... some character design (mainly Akai) for Contingency, random doodles, a funky anime-style Martin the Warrior (of Redwall fame), and designed my non-existent D&D character for Greg's campaign. She looks kinda cool, although she's nameless as of now. A half-elven ranger, and I'm bugging him to let me have an animal companion. I want a wolfy. ^__^x;;

    Hey, there's a new episode of Wolf's Rain on tonight! (How could I forget, I've reminded just about everyone I know to the point of them hitting me... with, say, the exception of Sarah, who's as excited as I am about the whole thing.) I got the seventh episode of .hack//Dusk (not quite a mouthful like Legend of Twilight's Bracelet, but I invariably end up mention both titles of the show anyway. Thank goodness I never learned the Japanese one). That brought much amusement and sorrow at once. I won't give away what's going on, but .hack fans will get this statement: It's starting again.

    ...maybe I'm being too vague. Oh well, go download it. It's on bittorrent. I can tell you that Balmung ports in on top of Shugo (owch), there is an unexpected betrayal, and the crazy wannabe french-dude-knight-person gets in the way of *another* data drain. Bravo. And the preview for episode eight makes me think Ginkan and/or Subaru may be showing up. Cool.

    Watching a bunch of Witch Hunter Robin. That's a good show, once you get into it. It reminds me of prime time shows I used to watch at home... it's intruging, it's got *atmosphere*, and a good dose of the supernatural to boot. The character designs are nice, and the show's tone made even the homicidal barbie doll plot not only feasible, but rather clever.

    Ran out and got a stack of magazines today. Got the newest issue of Newtype USA the second I heard that the promo DVD had the first episode of RahXephon, dubbed. I love dubs ... well, most dubs. There are some, as a general rule, that make me twitch, but I always give the dub a chance. Jubei-chan's dub frightened me. I think I switched it over when I got sick of 'bamboo swords'. Of course, older dubs tend to be worse than the newer ones, so I guess I'm just biased.

    Need to watch the RahXephon dub. Need to not needlessly frighten the skitish roommate. If only the DVD player in my computer would stop being pigheaded at let me watch things. *cries* Ah, well. I've waited this long, I can wait a couple more hours until she has class and I don't. (Like, say, after speech...)

    Grabbed the new Animerica too, which is odd for me because I don't buy it now that Newtype is out. What cinched that sale was the cover...hee, Inuyasha. ^____^x; I snagged the newest Shonen Jump as well, to round the total out to an even twenty bucks.

    It's a proud day to be an anime fan, folks, when you can go to Suncoast and pick up a Newtype and a Shonen Jump. (And then turn around and go to the comic book store and Japanese market to pick up the latest Japanese issues as well.)

    Well, I'm off. I've got this killer Witch Hunter Robin AMV idea I want to get done, but I won't allow myself to make it until I've seen the whole series. Sixteen episodes to go!
  • Well, f!@#. 2003-02-24 21:29:33 That was incredibly smart of me. Yes, let's hit 'enter' instead of tab. It makes life more interesting. Sheesh, I amaze myself sometimes. 9_9x;;

    Anyone out there good with bittorrent? Anyone? I can't figure out my trackers and would muchly appreciate the help. Onegai shimasu?
