BTW: the original caption for the Gendo banner was "the devil made me do it." but i thought too many people might be offended by that.

  • palmistry, ice cream and boredom... 2001-11-02 02:45:54 Well tonight was quite eventful...

I went out with Frank and we drove around, went out for great burgers at Fudruckers, and went to Best Buy to decide what to do next. After voting no on buying the DVD of A&E's "Into the Mind of A Serial Killer", we thought about going to Blockbuster or perhaps going to the movie. Well after driving to three movie theatres, and concluding that Monsters Inc. wasn't coming out in theatres until tomorrow, we went to the Marble Slab for ice cream. mmmmmmmm... Chocolate Amaretto... (btw, frank finally realized that all these years it was the amaretto he hated in chocolate covered cherries. Now he vows to try some merachinos next time we go out for sundaes or dessert.) He got a bannana cone. Simple tastes. ^_^

Well, we still had time to kill, and no movie, so we ventured over to Borders where i found a little pocket book (you know the little 3 inch books that they sale by the tarot cards and bookmarks) all about Palm Reading. I asked frank to let me see his palm while he searched for the next book in his Winter's End series... ANYWAY... we both started getting really interested in the lines and figures so we abandoned the Sci Fi/Fantasy section and headed for the Philosophy/New Age shelf. There we found two pretty interesting books that we both sat on the floor in font of the case reading to each other. An hour later, they started closing and we were only a quarter into each book. So we picked one, took it to his house and have spent the last three hours reading and comparing palms with the entire thing. It was actually quite revealing... almost freaky even.

For example, we'd turn to a page that shows your head line. This helps determine a lot of your personality and tastes in life. apparently. Well it says under the diagram that if your heard lines looks like this then blah blah blah. Well i found the one that matched mine and it was wierd. now, your head line is essentially the one in the center. you have three that run horizontally across your palm. the top is your heart line. the bottom (to the right kinda) your life line and the middle your head line. Well if your head line extends all the way to the end of your palm on the side of your pinky finger, then you were or are closer to your mother. if it extends to the end on the side of your thumb, then you are closer to your father. if it extends all the way across you are close to both of your parents equally. now if it's like mine, and doesn't touvh the end on either side, it says "your parents probably separated when you were young so you are not fully connected to either of them. the one that it extends closest to is the one who influenced your personality the most."

Guess what? My parents divorced when i was less than a year old and i've lived with my mom ever since. but the line is closer to my thummb (dad). weird? well, my mom hates anime, thinks it's stupid. always thinks what i'm wearing is odd or crazy and doesn't like loud music, art, or personalities. My dad... he loves gundam wing, star trek and evangelion. He has a pez collection of over 300 items and buys the coolest stuff he can find in ebay when he gets the chance. he writes poetry, paints and loves to listen to all types of music, even Ozzy and Pantera. Yet i've never lived with him. just visited about a week every year or so. Kinda neat wouldn't you say? ^_^

Well that was an interesting night. Now i'd better be off to bed. gotta get up early for work and all... *yay*
  • well... 2001-10-30 17:39:31 It seems our whole nation has been affected by the current economy. It finally hit home today. I was doing my sales goals (the total sales i made for the month) at work today and you can really see a drastic drop. I used to get about 15-20 credit applications a week and about $7000-$8000 in sales. Now, since the week of September 11, it's dropped to 5-8 credit apps a week and about $2500-$3500 in sales. Sad really. Especially cosidering that this is right before Xmas and sales usually pick up. I fell bad for all the smaller family run busineses. Like my local anime store and sushi bar. They seem so empty now. It's almost eerie walking through such a desolate mall. I wish there were some way i could comfort the nation and covince them to have trust in the government and economy once more. It's hurting us as a nation that people are afraid to leavetheir houses and go on with their lives. I haven't forgotten what happened and i still watch the news every night and read the paper every morning. I just remember to go to work as well and to spend my paycheck back on the economy. I'm just trying to help. I wish others would too. Don't be afraid. Just because you get into a wreck is no reason to stop driving. So please, get back behind the wheel, America, we need someone to drive us home. ^o^
  • ... Halloween ... 2001-10-28 21:25:59 I went and saw the movie "From Hell" today. It was pretty cool, loved the violence and realism. Not to mention that i simply adore Johnny Depp! -_^
This movie has earned it's place amongst my "Depp Halloween Viewing" with Sleepy Hollow, 9th Gate and Edward Scissorhands.

After leaving the theatre, guess what was sitting on the wndshield? It was a flyer protesting against the evil SIN that is Halloween.

    ...

    well it made ME laugh!

... here lemme give you a taste of all the CRAP that was on there:
"...Halloween and Sinning is Fun for the BLIND! Halloween is fun, but it is SIN! "The wages of sin is Death..." Romans 6:23 And you cannot Christianize it, because it is evil from the core."

    uh.... yeah...PSYCHO!

But it's okay to Christianize the Winter Solstice huh? Those were wiccan holidays as well. So why is it so evil to simply think of Halloween as All Hallow's Eve, ne? The funny thing is, they never say WHY halloween isevil. Just that ".. god hates SIN and evil. Halloween is EVIL..." but tell me why you idiot! If someone wants to make me listen the y have to make sense first. I have a growing colletion of these things. Every October these anti-halloween flyers turn up on my car. I wonder if they realize it's become a sort of Halloween Tradition! -_^

Anyway, I'm off Weds, and all i can say is "BRING ON THE CANDY!!!"
