first thing
I don't know what happened to the guy who was hosting my AMVs. I guess he knows how to disappear completely and never be found. Actually now that I think about it, he mentioned something about packing and moving so my videos will probably be down until he settles down and does his thing.
A few weeks ago I called an Army recruiter up. I asked a few questions about the benefits I can receive in the army. Funny thing was that everything happened so fast. That same day my recruiter took me to a federal building and told me to take an ASVAB test. He said I can earn bonus money if my score was above a 50. I took it and got a 77. The same night I called my parents and told them about me joining the army. My mom worried a bit since my brother is already in the army (he's a 2nd Lt). I told her I'm not going into Combat Arms like my brother (he's in the armor division so he drives tanks). I'm doing typical office work in the army. My MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) is a <a href=http://www.goarmy.com/jobs/mos/mos3131P.htm>Microwave System Operator</a>. I took my physical that following Tuesday and passed it. I am officially in the Army now. I guess you can say I'm Pvt Steve Park. I leave for basic training July 30th.
A lot of people were surprised when I told them I joined the army. The reason I joined was because I messed up in college for the third semester. I need to get my head straight. I also hated depending on my parents' money. It sucks that they have to waste money on my college. I mean, sure I got some grants, loans, and financial aid but I lost that aid after messing up my last semester. I'm messing up this semester as well. I am serving five active years. I'm an E-1 right now but I might be able to get to an E-3 before I go to boot camp. I want to earn my own money and buy my own things with my own money. It is hard for me to get a job since I don't have a car. After my five years I will be getting $50,000 in college money. I plan to do the reserves after my five years because I want to earn a little bit of money while I'm in college as well. I think this is the wisest decision I've made since I was in college. I am just a goof off and a lazy screw up. I guess I just wasn't ready for college. I am hoping that this will get my head straight and make me a better person mentally. This will also look good in my resume in the future :) -
