  • Hurdles 2006-01-22 03:25:52 Thanks anonymous opinioner, I think my biggest problem right now is not being able to recognize faults in my videos until someone draws my attention to them, that and still learning the intricacies of my software. If you think the quality of "Are You..." is bad, you don't want to think about the WMV version, but thanks for helping me see it. I'll see what I can do to clean it up and apply those techniques in the future.
  • Needing an extra day a week 2006-01-11 18:32:39 I'm begining to realize that just dedicating one day a week (Saturday) to AMVs is not going to be enough, but I got so many other things. I play World of Warcraft. Wednesday is usually my console gaming night, dedicating the evening to a single game on a single system until it's beat, then moving to the next system out of effectively 4 systems (old PS games and PS2 games I count seperately). Thursday is my TV night, watching what's new on Anime Network On Demand until Smallville comes on (if there's a gap I watch either an anime DVD or an old episode of Smallville on my computer [didn't start really watching until this season, otherwise just what I happen to catch]). After Smallville is My Name is Earl and maybe The Office. Friday is anime club night. Sunday is all day WoW. Some room anyday for other plans (i.e. concert, volunteer work, socializing with neighbors, housekeeping, playing guitar, and just general getting out of this apartment.) Of course you can't make a living making AMVs, so can't quit my job (one cannot just quit my current job and it takes seriously screwing up to get fired anyways), but the occasional extended weekends and vacations help.
  • New Year's Resolutions 2006-01-09 19:54:57 My New Year's Resolution is to put more work into my AMVs. All seen in my catalog will eventually be filled, hopefully by May. There may be a few new ones popping up between now and then as well. I'll be away for the summer, but will be back in Aug and get back on track.

Recent upgrades: new 250G HD is now my Video Drive (this is addition to the 180G WinXP, and the 20G which will become my Linux drive)
When I get the Linux running, I'll probably start doing my Video editing from that one. Any suggestions on a Linux vid edit program comparable or better than Magix?
  • Brave New World of AMV 2004-07-01 07:17:48 So, I'm now officially calling myself an AMV creator. I have made 3 on Windows Movie Maker from clips of other AMVs, but now I'm serious. I got the DVD ripper, sending the files to my 20G secondary HD. I'm DL (and purchasing, in case you're wondering) a better vid edit suite.

So where did it all begin, this obsession with AMV. I'd have to say when a friend showed me the Picachu "Bitches" AMV from Otaku Vengance (RIP). I thought "Oh, my god! That's so cool! I must have more!" 10 full CDs (and then some) and countless cappy DBZ AMVs later I began to think, "You know what, I can do this, if only I had the tools."

The three I've made so far? I can rebuild them. I have technology. They will be cleaner, brighter, and 78% more gooder.

Plus one that I've been sitting on for a while. Someone already made Lain "Hello" on me.
