JOURNAL: Mechaman (Scott Francis)

  • "So eager to play, so reluctant to admit it." 2002-06-07 03:25:07 MC: Have you ever checked out Brian J. Wright's bad/horror movie reviews, at http://www.geocities.com/tyrannorabbit/rev.html ?
Granted, the HTML's pretty old, but he's got the important thing to a movie reviewer: a good sense of humor.

I reeaally need to start browsing the rack of old videos at the rental place again; I've been buried too much in Modern Times.
Plus, I've yet to see the uncensored copies of Re-Animator or Galaxy Of Terror.

  • prosecuted to the full extent of the jam 2002-06-06 05:52:32 doki: Actually, I prefer this "Rated Arr!" joke instead: http://maze.icomix.com/comicpage/browse.php?index=545
    ;)

A job offer is on the way to me, based on the result of a background check! Whee!

  • warning: this is not a simulatory system. all registered user data will be transferred to the deployed virtuaroid system memory bank. 2002-06-03 03:57:36 Unfortunately, I can't host the Lupin video and random MP3s at the same time. Can't complain, since it's for free. For now, just imagine that I have "She's lost control(S.L.C.)" and "Earth Light" from Operation Moongate, and "Above And Beyond" and "Into The Crimson" from Oratorio Tangram, posted for your perusal.
2nd job interview tomorrow--gonna meet Dad for lunch.
It turns out the job mostly involves using "Accelio" to recreate official-type forms in the computer, while maintaining some Perl and XML code. Definitely a 9-to-5-er.
Notes on reading "Twistor" and re-reading "Hardwired"...whenever.

  • "So unless we intend to do this job in Reno, we're in Barney. Barney Rubble. Trouble!" 2002-05-28 00:31:07 Ocean's 11(the 2001 ver, not the Ratpack version) is so very much a popcorn movie, but it's just so danged FUN to watch. Follow it up with a Vanilla Sky chaser for a weird movie night.

It's noted that Vanilla Sky seems to be a retread of Abre Los Ojos, but Vanilla Sky's final plot twist pretty much gives it a Phillip Dick spin; most notably from "I Hope I Will Arrive Soon". Crowe's still the master at picking his score and music tho'.

Blah. Every so often(usually when I'm doing something in Freehand or GIMP), I have an urge to run out to free font sites and grab several dozen out-there fonts. Like now.

  • If only I had known you better / if only you weren't afraid to try / you and me we'd make a bad bad team but we'll never understand the reasons why 2002-05-26 14:52:54 EK: Yeah, I know doing it leads you down an uncomfortable road. There are a few junk sketches of mine in a tucked-away sketchbook that won't see the light of Internet.

Foo. Wedding went off absolutely perfectly. She's an old movie buff and lives in Port Townsend, so they got married in the Rose Theatre(http://www.rosetheatre.com/). Not a super-traditional ceremony; they had the binding-of-the-hands ritual, for you Celtic buffs.

Job interview this week--I need to find my Freehand 9 work from school, and make a few more things. I'm not sure what they're looking for; artistic flair or technical competence(bearing in mind this is designing/programming forms). Perl review in any case.

I just realized that I could have used an old idea to submit to AX, if the deadline weren't so near. Oh well, I'll probably submit the (not)Lupin video for grins. If it magically makes it into the finals I'll be at AX; else I won't. Unless the job situation changes radically in the next week or so.
