Destroy All Monsters

...which is an excellent site, by the way.
Well, the busiest week in college I've ever had is drawing to a close. There's a stats test tonight and a CS lab due tomorrow(which I have strong doubts that I'll finish, being that I've only done the preliminary work on, and that it's basically a mini serial port driver), and then I can go home, sleep, and do more looking for a job.
After playing around with Winamp visualizers last night(as well as finding the test one I made through WildTangent), I have a great urge to do one. There's a lack of high-speed travelling ones...I have a hankering to implement a speed version of the Saturn's internal CD player visualizer.
Must tell self to wait until after finals...

The tapes came today; I was astounded. 'Course, any turnaround time of less than a week would surprise me after the Magical Misadventure of getting my current CPU. This of course means that I have no excuse to get the demo reels ready, but I want to finish this CD art project first, so I have a scant more to show.
Jon Snyder gave a talk here on Wed., he was one of those "fan-makes-it-in-industry" stories, with his running of Star Wars Insider. Real cool guy, gave talks about getting a job, mostly of what not to do with a portfolio. Granted, I send demo reels, but the thought's the same. Got to talk with him afterwards, exchange names, get some more tips.
Grar. After seeing EK's "Big Fat Kill" work, I so have the urge to do a pseudo-companion to it using "100 Bullets" and Jet. What are you looking at me like that for? I haven't gotten to read Frank Miller for years, OK?
..and to pass the time in art history, I finally got brainstorms for two of the fighters I needed to design for the CD. I sometimes wonder why these pieces of pop culture congregate in my mind. Just to see if anyone agrees with my brain damage:
Jacknife(two-form agile fighter) inspirations: Dorkas(Virtual-ON), Thunderbolt(Wing Commander 3), PROJECT WIVERN(http://www.ceres.dti.ne.jp/~wivern/).
Camaro inspirations(partial-humanoid heavy fighter): Hammerhead(Jet's fighter), Belgdor(Virtual-ON), "Shiden", "Houka"(Soukyugurentai), any Macross Gerwalk-mode, and the robo-bikes from Contra: Hard Corps.
Crazy!

Man, oddly enough I got a burst of energy to start doing things. And about time, since time's running out. Although I wonder if the fact that the first snow here happened today..maybe I just feel too lazy in the fall semesters.
Lessee..ordered a crate of 20 T-10s for my demo reel, registered my copy of Hmonitor(mostly to use its Win98 idle cooling), did a bunch more sketching, did the first picture of a character that needs to appear on my art class CD project, and shook my fist at AWN for having their company yellow-pages broken. I've had my fill of "post your resume here" sites; now it's time to start firing tapes at likely job targets.
Also have to remember to tape the Bebop movie for the club meeting this weekend. And pester "The Bruce" to send me the flyer design so I can start stapling them all over campus.
Just have to keep telling myself to keep moving, not to slow down.
And a mental note to smash the thermostat in this room when I leave, so that its constant hissing doesn't drive anybody else insane.

Great(?) minds such as EK and Hsien are using this, so I suppose I might as well. Feels more worthy than using one of the trendy weblogs as well...
Rar. I've NEVER had senioritis as bad as this before. I place the blame squarely on Deus Ex--every weekend I swear I'll go to bed early, yet end up playing it until 3 in the morning. I'm pretty close to the end of the game however, so that will hopefully clear up. It'd better--I need to make a list of animation studios to apply to, and crank out more portfolio work. Curiously enough, uber-animation guru Tony White(tonywhite.net) noted in his forum on AWN that more 2D drawing is a good way to show yourself. I suppose I'll just go with the stuff for Tony I worked on, at Mesmer(www.mesmer.com), and fill out the rest of a demo reel with scans and my Gatekeepers video. Good thing too; I'm so lazy that there's no way in hell I'd be able to crank out another short film with the tools that I have(Blender is going in a decidedly odd direction, and Axogon Composer can only do so much).
Although speaking of videos, for some reason the thought of making a music video to the Virtual On Archive's replays combined with "Spanish Fly" makes me giggle like a schoolgirl for some reason. Weird. But somehow more appealing than the wannabe attempts being posted by a certain someone to fighters.net.
