Dithney Laaaaan!
2004-08-02 22:02:57
Well, in just a few hours, I'm making off to southern California for the rest of the week. VACATION! w00t!
Of course, gotta visit Disneyland while I'm there. And most likely Universal Studeos, too. Some other fun things are planned as well.
But, dang it, no body wants to go with me to Legoland.
Darn.
Nobody loves me!
...
Unfortunatly, I won't get any more work on my new video down until I get back. Thankfully though, I'm almost finished with it. I would be done, except for the fact that WMM keeps fizzing out on me. >_<
But enough about that.
I've got to get to bed so I can get up early... and make my flight...
...mmm... airplane...

Talking Heads -or- how I became a n00b
2004-07-27 23:39:15
Being my first Journal entry, I thought I'd introduce myself. I, am GundamNegative. Of course, you probably gathered that already.
I live in the grand (and currently very hot) state of Oregon. That's about as much information you're gonna get out of me now. And there's nothing you can do about that. ;)
Anyway, for my first entry, I'll discuss my first video, of which I have one fan. Or, at least, one fan that actually told me so.
Anyway, it's called "The 08th Savior." As an interesting tidbit, this is the only video I've ever had to make twice.
"Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team" has been one of my favorite anime ever since I saw it, and I thought it would be perfect for me to fiddle with and make a video out of. This was because of two reasons:
1. It's short.
2. I know the episodes pretty well.
That made finding clips and things relevent to the video much easier.
The song I used was "Savior" from the grunge/metal/electric band Skillet. This is, and probably will be, my favorite song they've ever done, at least until they come out with a better one.
Those two elements gave the first incarnation of the video it's start.
When I first made this video, I was using a unregestered file converter to get my source clips, which put some unsightly "unregestered copy" message across the front of the screen. Well, I never really thought I'd show the video to anyone other then my brother, mostly because, well, I was just playing around with my new computer. So I never really thought about actually regestering the program.
But then, I realized it actually didn't turn out all that bad, especially for a first video (I've seen some rank first videos before...). However, I couldn't just use the video as it was. It was hard to see the action (and drama) on the screen with all the words right in the middle.
So, I went around the net trying to find a decent (yet free) file converter. A futile attempt that lasted about a week, I gave in and bought the program I used before (no, I won't tell you what it was. So don't ask.) And started to redo the video.
I did change a few things from the original video (mostly because I thought it would fit better), and since you'll never see the original (and because I don't want to bore those of you with ADD,) I'll let you speculate on what those changes were. I will say though, the ending of the video is much different then what it is now.
Anyway, after completely redoing the video from scratch, I had this file sitting on my computer that I had absolutely no idea what to do with. Now, showing it to family and friends is nice and all, but not everyone I know likes to watch AMVs, or anime for that matter. (No, I don't get those people either...) ;)
So, after about a week, I posted it here, seeing as, well, I don't have the money to host the video on my own. But here, I know at least someone, somewhere can take a peak at my little WMM doodle, and possibly enjoy it too.
I think that's enough for my first entry. I'll maybe talk about something interesting next time, too. :D
