My quote of the day:
2009-11-03 18:33:35
Is it visual cannibalism if a camera films a camera?
Oh wait... according to Final Cut Express: It doesn't get better with Final Cut Pro. Apple is always for usability, but this program is in some parts bullshit (markers...).

After my first editing experience with Final Cut Express: It blows.
I hope this will change... =/

So yesterday I showed my supervisior my amvs to get some feedback from a professional on this whole amv stuff. AMVs are (as all of you hopefully know) a hell lot of different from real life videos in the tele. However you can get plenty of good feedback and advices for future works. Like... The possibilities in colour corrections and stuff about good storytelling. Storytelling is a big point.
You can't just tell people what they have to think or see in a video all the time. When they don't get the content of your video without knowing the anime or knowing your comments on it than you might have failed.
What do you think? Can you expect someone in the "real" world to have some knowledge before he watches a video? Hardly. We expect people to know so many things in our videos beforehand. Anime, music lyrics...
I think the challenge lies today in makeing an amv that is good in technical standards and still is simpel enough to make people get the concept and story. Concept is probably not as hard as a story. A friend and my supervisor were close to get the theme in Eve - The Perfect Human which was unexpected for me, but still a nice surprise.
Where are makeing videos...
from fan for fan (YouTube crab, but still might has some good fancy concept)
from editor for fan (I think Driftroot's Ghostbuster - Final Fantasy VII AC amv has a lot to offer for fans)
from editor for editor (usual amv.org video)
from editor for everyone (something that just everybody can understand and enjoy euqualy regardless of knowledge of the source etc.)
I think amv-wise I will still make editor for editor videos, but it's clear that I just have to learn editor for everyone - concepts for makeing money with video works. I think it's challenging.
