JOURNAL: Bauzi (Bernd Schäffer)

  • Searching for indie projects really does pay off 2010-02-07 19:36:48 So... My homework is to make a film poster, DVD cover, label and making of for a fictive movie. I thought... "Yeah right guys! I don't want to waste my time on something fictive and will search for a real project to contribute something."

I'm happy that I got my first email for a project and I will probably take it. Heck there are people part of this movie that I actually know from TV like the (no, I'm not kidding) lamest elvis imitator of the world and the german synchro voice of Nicolas Cage.

I'm so excited now and actually I wanted to go to sleep now, but I'm so full of adrenaline! This is what I wanted. I can contribute to a real (trash on purpose, yet nice looking!) movie.

They even need somebody to do a trailer and somebody for VFX. What do I want more? Money? Screw it for now! I want the damn experience of being part of a real movie project.

It's not only experience. It's about connections too! You know... You don't have to write an application in the media business if you have your own working network. The jobs are often comeing to you from friends and former partners. Helping in future projects of this crew can be exciting and open new doors.

Hahaha... it just came to my mind:
"Hey guys! I was in the finals of one of the biggest contests of this so called AMV-Hobby" xD
It's all about how good you can represent yourself, right?
  • [LGS] goes commercial? 2010-02-07 13:54:34 Yeah maybe it gets sooner commercial than I thought, because I'm probably making a website and web/tech support for a new firm. Well it's not video related, but at least media related and in the end [LGS] should be a nice media firm at the end. At least that's what I'm dreaming of.

Hey this makes myself to my own boss! In [LGS] ... there will be only god above me! Muhahaha...

Still no thoughts about me being in the finals... At least I want to congratulate Fizziks for winning the Best Trailer/Commercial with his Kawaiii Dateing Simulator vid. Seriously: This video embodies for me a perfect trailer/commercial/parody of them. I'm just not into the punchline at the end, but the rest is simply perfect. That's why this video feels amazing to me.
  • Finally my VCA finals thoughts! 2010-02-06 09:09:13 Before I talk about my finalist video, I'll shortly advertise it: Keep on voteing for Being A Superstar in Best Horror if you like it and want to support it. Thank you.

    ******

Once again it shows that amv.org is not the center of the amv world and especially it isn't the forums and chat with it's members. The forum and chat editors are probably the loudest here and provide some good overview on awesome and worthy videos, but in the end they are only a small percent of all people who vote. So the finalists often are not who people thought.

So I'm actually surprised by some aspects of the finals and I will talk about those things.

    #1 qwaqwa
This guy's impact is insane! For me he came from nowhere and is now omnipresent in the finals. I only saw his "Ian Flemming" amv yet and I guess his other videos are probably not worse. Somebody who gained so much attention in such a little time just had deserved to be in a viewers choice award and probably makes him to the editor of the year in the VCAs.

    #2 No Kyssifur's "Number 1" video?
Holy crap! I would have never thought of it. Personally I don't like the song and animes used in the video, but it was a good video. It's a really hot one for Non-FX, but didn't made it into it.
This video got pretty popular fast and that's no wonder! A trendy new more mainstream song. A new anime that a lot of people seam to watch and use now. A country community that probably stands behind him. A lot of hits (over 10k), a lot of opinions. However it didn't made it into the finals. What the fuck? Just makes me wondering.

    #3 No-Fx category? HA!
That's annoying. So many videos in this final make use of more complex effects. Maybe Number 1 didn't made it into the finals because some fx video took it's place? That's sad. The VCAs should take one day to look through the videos and make sure that they are right placed in the finals of the categories.

#4 Collabs as MEPs and vice versa
Just bullshit. Okay the new definition of the categories isn't that sad, but we are every year used to the same schema: Collab: Up to x editors. MEP: More than X editors.
It's stupid to change this all of a sudden. Especially for a viewers choice award. For a judge award it might be okay, because you tell the judges about this =/

    #5 Rookie Of the Year
No Kenzichu? It's interesting how almost every year some shiny noobs pop up at the forums and get some love and recognition, quite a lot of support for the VCAs, but hardly end in the finals. Seriously: Interesting.

Videos that I miss in the finals:
Number 1, Evangelion Complex, Hello World, Strange Has Been Found

    My voteing list:
Note that I didn't saw most of the final videos. I don't vote if I'm not interested into the category, didn't saw the videos or don't think they are worth it:

    **********

Since I already made such a long entry, I will post my thoughts about me being in the finalists later.
  • 2010-02-05 03:18:12 I hate this feeling:

What if at a different time at a different place.... couldn't it have worked?

    Doesn't make things any easier.
  • 2010-02-03 05:45:24 @Knowname:
Even if it's a beta the main engine should work. Fuck they have one month left before the game is shipped and gets sold! How will they be able to fix it in time? They can't.

Altough I got more faith into the company DICE and their product BC2 when I found out that Ben Cousins and his team of douchebags that work on Battlefield Heroes are NOT part of BC2. Okay blaming his team is maybe too much, but I can blame Ben Cousins for being a douche. Everbody who played Heroes months before the infamous 31st November 2009 probably knows why I'm so pissed off about him.
