Kiv (studio member) had the idea to make some sort of Austrian AMV Hell years ago. Last summer we finally decided that we will just start it and have let it announce on several conventions. After the announcement there was no turning back.
What's different about this AMV Hell?
Alright the basic idea is the same. We invited everybody to join and submit Austria-related amv hell clips. We post them on YouTube as private videos and let specific people comment and discuss the videos. It works pretty good. The only problem is that only the uploader gets notified by email about new comments. Through the commenting system a lot of new editors will benefit from it. We help them to progress and evolve.
Than we will try to show it on every convention in Austria this year. There won't be a problem to show it at least on the biggest two conventions here. The video will grow bigger and bigger after each convention, because before we show it at the next con people can still submit videos. With the additional publicity we will probably have a solid growth.
I really like this idea of a community amv project. How everybody is invited to submit clips until we will show the last big version of this amv on the last convention of this year.

I really want that 3DS! My last handheld is a original GBA. I won't buy before I know that you can play downloadable games with SD cards that have special firmware.
I'm just honest on this.

Don't skip. Stick with it.

When I began with amvs I had after some time tons of ideas. Resulting in tons of videos that never got finished. In 2006 I began to just sit down and stick with the videos until they were finished. The results are pretty good, but lately I stopped to stick with ideas and project, even if the concepts were great. I think the excitment of new ideas got me away from the old ones.
So instead of thinking about new ideas and concepts, how about sticking with already existing great ideas and concepts? Just getting them done, you know?
Realizing this is a good thing. I will pick up again a concept that is probably 1.5 years old, but hey! It's still great. Let's do this =)
and when I'm done with it, I head over to the other idea that is probably already 2.5 years old xD

I handed in my concept+storyboard of my first live action music videos for a director's class project. Surprisngly my teacher really looks forward to it. That's cnice.
On the other hand I got feedback and it shows how hard it is to make something complete. A closed in universe with an own story. It's hard to design clear characters and make every scene count. You can't just throw in some bunch of scenes because they are looking good. You need a reason why you do it. Your character's design dictacte what scenes you need to use.
I'm fine with people doing different interpretations of my videos and storylines. However it's not easy to make your point across. You have to tell and explain things with only a few scenes and a lot of time pressure behind them. In the end the melody of the music is unforgiving. If there are only 12 seconds to tell this and that, than there is probably no way around it.
Than you need a good cast of actors. Than you need to find your perfect locations. Than you need some friggin' money and you need a team that assists you. Than I have a chance to ask the state's institutes for financial support.
An original live action music video isn't easy to pull off. There is so much work behind it.
