JOURNAL: Bauzi (Bernd Schäffer)

  • 2011-10-23 14:09:47 Wow... the amount of dubstep tune rape gets unbearable by now. Maybe it's just me. Maybe that's the way it is! Most of the the dubstep just plain suck for me and there are only a handfull exceptions that please me.

MEH! Back to listening to the new Ohgr album. Oh Ohgr! I can't wait for the new Skinny Puppy record. Wait... I think it should be out by now? Ah god damn it! 2 Days left until release... =(
  • Live your life in the "Modern Design" (NEW MUSIC VIDEO!) 2011-10-16 17:19:34 Yes finally I have a new music video for you. It's with original live action again. I was the camera man, made some edit tweaks and the color correction. The project was directed by Paul Hayworth who also made the music for it.

It's not too special to be honest. It's really slow paced, artsy with chaotic architecture and moody (somehow hypnotic for me), but the creation of the video thought me a lot of good things. All these crazy locations are in Vienna, Austria.

    Anyway: Check it out!

Paul said it the right way: "I live since more than a decade here and look what happened to my neighbour hood. Are they kidding me? Things got bloody ugly here!". After being more concious about the whole city, I pretty much understand. Like... there is this huge T-Mobile center that looks like a firggin Space Battle Cruiser! WTF?
  • It's the end as we know it... 2011-10-13 17:31:22 Oh well... Thoughtful times right now. Me and my gf broke up, because of things that we can't change no matter what. It definatly hurts to loose someone because of such bullshit reasons. We had to throw away a healthy relationsship so we can continue to fullfill our plans and dreams. There is no one to blame and a rational reason surely makes it easier to get over it.

It makes me cynical. I feel traped and in a cage, that I can't escape. I just don't have the possibility to change things. I would betray myself, but than again:
What do we have to sacrifce for our dreams? On how many corpses are we walking on? And when we reach our goals, was it all worth it?

Life feels like a big joke. There are so many parameters that are set with your birth and with a system. It's hard sometimes. Many of my close friends struggle right now. They don't let go of their dream either and are paying the price. Debt, moveing back to their parents homes etc.

I'm done with many illusions: You just are born into something. You can't be anything that you want and desire. ...and if you do change and make differences... will you be pleased with the new person you are? Remember: You are product of your surroundings.

It makes me want to make an amv with this song (Cyanotic - Programmed):

btw.: One of my favourite bands right now. Cyanotic rocks!!!

Oh and my studio [LGS] Lazy Generation Studios made a surprising end. Well... at least in the real world busines. My partners think it's a bad name decision for a company. It presents a wrong bad image. Sure, but I'm still the opinion that we should not care about it. Being unique and standing out is what counts. A controverse name is a good start.

It's not dead. It's still here in the AMV world, it would have been great to see it in the real world. Whatever...
  • Dissonance - Takes it's first crown! 2011-10-04 03:42:23 I think you know the feeling when you just can't say if other people will like your videos. Yesterday we had to present our endproject to a jury so we can get our final grades of our film chours. I haven't seen my own short film in a week, so I got some distance to it. I was a bit shocked on how much things could be done better (but we will do these changes for the final release!).

We were a bit nervous. In the end we got the title of "Best Project Of This Year's Class" and a hell lot of praise. I was quite surprised. It gives me confidence to make more of it. Think about it: You have a unique storyline (at least I know that I best it on only on my new ideas), that is pretty cool and you have a bigger concept. Most people who seek for financial support for a feature length film only have the concept. I should take my chances.

Anyway the promotion of our studychannel is still going on and you can watch this pre-release right now:

There is no language wall, because there is no text. I like that. It opens the film for everybody :)
  • I saw "The Tree Of Life" - Should you see it too? 2011-10-02 06:50:27 This is a hard question. For me it's a bit like Space Odysee 2001. The difference is that this movie doesn't wave the director's dick in your face all the time and has actually a meaning. It's a very deep movie that drags on. I just hate it that the message of the movie is not clear at the end. A lot of important things are not told. I bet everybody in the cinema had it's own interpretation of it.

The craft of the movie is gorgeous and amazing. Every bit of it. I think this describes it best:

If you seek a deep meaningful movie, than go and watch it, but this movie is WORK and not entertainment. You have to be cautious all the time and you have to really work for it, so you can get it. This is for sure not a movie for everybody, but I won't blame anybody who left in the middle of the movie. They just shouldn't talk shit about it.

Did anybody else see this movie? What are your thoughts on it?

Oh yeah! My short film movie prerelease is of course still going:

I hope you guys are interested in seeing it. Give me lot's of thoughts and feedback please! =)
