  • I can't help it 2002-11-11 00:15:21 This is an excerpt from a somethingawful.com ..er...commentary I read.

I don't usually quote or borrow things like this...but I enjoyed it som much I felt the need to share.

Below is the horrifying death of a helpless batch of vegetables.
Those with weak stomachs or no sense of humor, turn back now.

"Innocent vegetables are ripped from the life-giving ground, their roots torn asunder and left as food for rodents and swarms of insects. The vegetables are then skinned with a razor-sharp steel blade, and the strippings are hurled mercilessly into a pot of viciously boiling water, so that their essence may be sucked forth as flavor for the horrid brew. The vegetables themselves are then chopped up like so much shredded newspaper, small pieces sticking to the unfeeling edge of the cold knife, before they too are thrown into the pot. There, they are left to stew in their own juices, the searing heat releasing their true flavor. Once boiled, the vegetables are dumped into a blender and mangled by the whirling blades. The resulting pulp is then mashed, breaded, and baked. You vegetarians out there will undoubtedly enjoy such a tasty delight, if you can live with the death on your hands. Guilt trip your way out of that one, hippies!"

^_^ It's not that I am some unfeeling carnivore...you just can't help but build life on the back of death. Not wanting to eat an animal with a nervous system is fine as a personal choice but I just can't stand it when those who eat meat are said to somehow act unnatural or wrong.

Something living has to die so you can live. It's the fact of life. And this just amused me.
  • Nothing of any use to anyone...... 2002-10-28 18:04:28

But I just had to say Thank you Klinky ^_^ I was having a bad day at work (eek,...home on my hour lunch on a 9 hour day) and that cheered me up a lot. Dunno why clown abuse is so funny, but it is. At least the way you put it ^_~.

  • Trying out something here.. 2002-10-22 14:29:42
All of my music videos have always followed story over effects or visuals. Following lyrics, playing up to the mood of the music and so forth. As a result, I have never gone overboard in the effects department.

Now, a couple things have come into my editing hands lately. A new anime (one that doesn't have any entries here yet ^__^) and Adobe after effects. I am going for a production house job and I want to learn it *Thank you classroom in a box*

Sooo....the point of this is that I am going to make my first action/eye candy video. I don't plan to enter it into any amv contests at all, because I think it's going to turn out good but shallow. I would rather make slower videos with minimal effects and flash frames and with lots of heart. But I want to be able to integrate a bit of lip sync especially for my upcoming parody amv...um...that one won't be much amv though I admit.

All of my planned videos are on hold but I am ok with it. I think this is going to a lot of fun :)

  • Now I know how it feels..... 2002-10-20 02:22:29

....to have your video played with problems at a con.

Mine wasn't the only video lacking a second channel of audio, which in my video's case took out a whole chorus and made the video miss 'on the beat' edits since the beats were missing!

The video was bleached out like the contrast and brightness were took high, again many videos suffered the same fate.

Last, it followed the correct resoultion recommended by the con. Well, it appears that the res wasn't anticipated properly and the video was not proportioned to fit the screen.

Many videos had a lot of digital artifacts and I am not sure if that was a con or editor problem. Seeing as how mine looked so bad I really didn't notice that because I was too busy looking down.

Problems....hopefully they are addressed by the amv coordinator next year. In this case, I would rather have not had my video played at all if it was going to have so many problems.
  • yawwwwwwwwn. laundry day -_- 2002-10-17 03:54:18 http://shadowworld.randomvariable.net/forum/index.php

I miss a lot of the people who posted on the forums and amv announcements, con opinions...so forth. A lot of people went to the message board right there for the time being.

I have a video at Sugoicon and want to post a con report...in addition to enjoying everyone else's opinion when it comes to contests and conventions. That is what I will miss most about the forums here, it was a great place to come to keep up to date with contest and amv convention announcements. I am on the amv yahoo mailing list but I think it would be considered spam there if people posted contest questions all the time. It's nice to have a central place to go at least.

So far, I haven't heard anything from anyone else on another central place to go chat so I guess I'll keep going there for the time being.
