  • back from LOTR 2002-12-30 01:23:36 And I am am very disapointed

That I have to wait a whole year for the next part!!!!

It was great. Luckily for me, I skimmed the last book collection. So I know how it ends and all but lots of things are fuzzy to me and I hope to be suprised with some parts.

I think they did a good job. There were a couple parts when the effets shown through. One such part was when the horses were running down the bridge at the end of the battle in the last scene. The orcs were falling down but the horses were running like nothing was there. They should have put something on the real green scene to have the horses dodge or something because they really impressed me when Golem was clenching Frodo's cloak and hanging off it. Just something for me to pick at.

    The theater was really nice.

It's in the heart of downtown Columbus. Nice place. I'll be going back to that one for the 3rd part. I like seeing it with other fans, they understand when to laugh and are very nice and quiet. All except for when someone's phone went off near the end when Frodo and Sam were walking through the cedar forest. The screen was big enough there were many places you had to turn your head some degrees to get in the whole scene. I like it that way.

Now for some sleep. No work tomorrow, so maybe some amv work.
  • Some very unrelated things 2002-12-29 16:24:28 First off, I am finally going to see The Lord of the Rings tonight. It's on a huge screen :) Not IMAX big, but bigger than most really big screens. Ahh nice THX sound system too. I have high hopes so it better live up to it :)

The next item of business is my seasonal job finally finished up. First business day in January I am calling the production house and see if I can weasle my way into a job there.

The last thing is how scared I am at the stupidity of this iraq war. It bothers me so much I am making a letter campaign. Massive, as in I am sending it to the local papers, foriegn embassies, national papers, and government reps of all kinds. I want it to get noticed. I am hoping that it'll at least open up some eyes enough. I mean, there were demonstrations at the white house and the president all but COMPLETELY ignores them. AT least he could acknowledge them with some legitimate reasons. I am actually most worried about what happens if even one nation sets of a nuke. It'll just make some part of the planet dead and possibly could just start a host of button pressing.

Global warming, recycling, pollution..these things may make the planet change climate, but life adapts and changes even if we kill ourselves. But turning the planet into Chernobyl will kill everything :( I feel too many people think it'll all just turn out ok but I am sick of waiting for the wind to change. I have friends in the military and am afraid of a draft for people I love. At least I have to try to do something...

I feel pretty stupid. First some background...

My seasonal job pays really well. 9.50 an hour and a decent but hard 8 1/2 hour day. I am fine with that since my last job was crappy and was a 9 hour day. Pay day makes it all feel ok ^_^

But the job is in a distribution center for Harry and David, an overpriced rich person's alternative to actually thinking about the person you are getting for and just throwing some 30 dollar pears their way :D I think it's great, I even got a free turkey just for being hired.

The job requires warm clothing and that's about it. It should be steel toed boots like most places but since the boxes aren't heavy it's not a standard practice. And if you are standing in practically one spot for 8 hours, sneakers are a little to appealing to pass up.

Well, I got a little side job gathering and stacking pallets since we were running low on trucks to stock. No problem since I could work at my own pace running back and forth and 1 at a time, and none of them are more than 20 pounds each. So I am feeling strong and stacking...stacking...then I start my 3rd pile. I go to drop the pallet and my foot was just out a little too far...

    Crushed my poor freaking foot!

    The pallet missed my big
toes and smashed the next one. I didn't even make a
sound or cry out...but inside my head I was cussing
like crazy. I didn't want to call attention to myself.

I didn't tell anyone because I didn't want to go to
the hospital (they would have made me) and deal with
more bills. Workers comp is not worth even trying. I
faked my way for awhile because it went numb but I
told them I was sick so I could go home. I wish I'd
had some steel toed boots and then I would have been
fine....or if I aimed the pallet better.

So, in the end, one of my toes is broken at the 2nd joint. I have missed 2 days of work, but I think I'll go back in tomorrow. It's only for another 2 weeks and 7 days a week practically so I am missing my chance to make some big holiday bucks. My foot is all black and blue though. I've never broken a bone before (concussions, car wreck, bike accidents) and finally, I've been taken down by a 5x5 foot block of wood. Ouchies.
  • Well, Richlather I can say this: 2002-12-04 13:34:20 O_0

Yes, I am a bit impressed by 10 tv's progression and regretting my inability to move right away even more. Well, truly I don't know if that is possible ...I sure wouldn't mind winning a small lotto to fund my moving funds :) but I would love to work at a tv station again. Working at WOUB was nice but very unprofessional. College students we were...yeees ^_^

The place is Innerphase in Lancaster on wheeling ave. I don't have anything in mind for there, I would just like to start in a place even if it's making less than I am now. Seasonal jobs usually pay well...but typically suck. My seasonal job will use a computer..but in a very very small part.

I plan on sending my resume out close to this summer when the lease I am on runs out. Maybe I'll get a position at 10 and we can start a local chapter of video editors from the org in Columbus :) well, it sounded nice anyway

  • new seasonal job 2002-12-03 23:52:07 Finally moved on from my 'job' due a lot to sexism from one of my bosses. It was electrical sales and I knoew every bit if not more than the males he had working at the place. In fact, everytime someone foreign came by asking about PAL and NTSC compatibility with our products, it was handed off to me. Well, my biggest mistake was having mammary glands instead of pectoral muscles I guess.

Since I couldn't lift anything bigger than a 19 inch tv shoulder or hoist a 25 inch tv onto a cart, I was considered good dumping grounds. So, with every sneer or laughing remark from the 'guy in charge' about letting the males handle it I just felt like letting them have it. So I quit mid-Christmas season. I know they will live without me but I felt one good gesture of defiance was all I could get short of a harrassment suit not worth pursuing.

I didn't blindly quit though. I have a 9.50 an hour job starting next week. It's seasonal but then in January I have a very good prospect at a local..er..38 miles away local is pretty good...Video Production house. It's in Lancaster. I would LOVE to move closer to Columbus and work the type of job RichLather has but Athens to COlumbus is one heck of a drive for a long term position. Of course, once my roomie graduates, we will move closer to a metro area anyway.

Christmas tree is up. I haven't had much time to edit lately. But now I have a whole week...of non-pay unfortuneatly but time. I expect major leaps and bounds in my Samurai Girl amv. I still haven't started on my Otakon entry. I assume it'll take double time since I am trying some completely new things for me.
