Sarah - Lol, thanks for the compliment. Yeah it was my first... but I don't think it's better than yours. Most of the time, people are just too self-critical. Mine... just has a different mood and I got to play around with the plot. Your FF vid was great because it was nostalgic and just fun. Mine had no aspect of fun whatsoever. Neither did Koop's for that matter. And your Sea of Stars vid was really nice too.
Euphoria... was amazing. But people really need to remember that this is all just for fun. If you can have fun while making your vid, then that's what matters most. Me, I chose my first vid because I wanted to screw around with the plot of Evangelion. Because it was fun.
"But if that's what videos are supposed to be now, then... Christ on rollerskates. What am I doing screwing around with, like, dissolves and crap? *shakes head*"
See, that's it exactly. Videos aren't -supposed- to be anything. I think you know what I mean here... But I don't see how you could wish you hadn't seen it! >_< Oy... well at least you're not stopping, right? Suckage is all well and good as long as you like it and don't just say "screw it" because someone's better.

Sarah - I see what you mean... but my first vid wasn't great and I know I can't aspire to what Koop has done with that video. I can't even comprehend those crazy floating windows. But I don't let that get me down... I know that there are different ways to entertain people with videos.
I can see people that have entered vids into cons being... crestfallen, to say the least, when they see that Koop's vid was entered. But to completely reconsider doing something like this, just a hobby, because they were outplayed is kind of silly.
But I do see what you mean. And all I can do is shrug my shoulders, I guess. = The more people that decide not to make vids, the fewer I have to compete with. ^_^
On another note...
I finished the first segment of my video, and I almost drove myself to tears. Grave of the Fireflies can be a pain to work with, I hate seeing some of these images over and over. =*( I suppose it's a good thing, though. I want to work on it more, but I don't have the next segment completely planned. Grr... maybe I should just thoroughly plan the whole thing and edit for 24 hours straight. Mmm... sleep loss. Yummy.

Right...
People... want to quit because Koop's vid rocked? Come on people, strive harder. Now you know just how good AMVs can get. And look at other creators like Kusoyaro and Vlad and whatnot... they don't use super flashiness and awe-inspiring effects but they've still made some great vids. I say turn away from Koop's style if you were intimidated by it. Don't try to imitate it, you will likely fail. Make your own style, use emotion and plot and sync or whatever you want. His video wasn't meant to be depressing. =
Seriously, his video makes me want to edit some more today. Though mine has different aims. Anyway, congrats, Koop, on getting your life back. ^_^

I just got back from a Symphony X show...
O_O
Man, it was amazing. Best night of my life. They got to the "end" after about an hour of alloted time and everyone was chanting their name. So the guitarist came back on (it was his birthday) and started this amazing solo (Michael Romeo = best guitarist ever). But then, the bassist came on and began to duel him. And that led to "Awakenings" almost flawlessly. Which happened to be the first song I'd ever heard by them way back when. And then they played a bunch more, extending their playing to two hours. And it was all so epic. And we were right next to them! I mean, we could touch the lead singer. And I can't even hear myself type! They have such an amazing stage presence. Believe it or not, they start their tour in Aurora on the guitarist's birthday. That's hilarious. Who'd want to do that? And it was a tiny little bar. They just came to have fun, and some of the music was just improvised. Those guys are amazing when it comes to live performance. I'm almost afraid to listen the CDs I have of them now... they can't live up to that.
And I can't stop spontaneously laughing and smiling at all the stuff they did.
Wow... ^_^
