You hated Lain AND Eva???? How could you say such a thing? It brings tears to my eyes to know that someone hated Lain.....>_<,
I've seen the first ep of Oneagi Teacher. I could only get 1 and 6 to finish dl'ing. It didn't really seem like my type of anime. That whole conclusion is based only on the first ep though. I think I'm going to get Key the Metal Idol next. First, it's only 3 disc long. I can finish that series safely in 2 paychecks. Plus, Aluminum rated it 10 out of 10. He has led me in the right direction with Lain and Battle Ahtletes. I trust his judgement. Not saying I don't trust your's Omni...^_^. Key also seems more my type of anime. I just hope that it's not like Shamanic Princess. It tried to be a deep and emotional series, but ended up just being utterly confusing and not making any sense what so ever. Why did the 5th and 6th episodes take place before the first 4. That was just stupid. I liked it, but it wasn't anything near what I was hoping for. I had such high hopes up until about the 3rd episode too. It's ashame....

I was just sitting back watching Cowboy Beebop on Adult Swim when all of a sudden it hit me. I don't know what series to start collecting next. My GOD man, what am I supposed to do now? I completed Battle Athletes, then Lain. I have the complete Shamanic Princess, and Eva Perfect Collection. I need a new series to start collection now. I don't know what to get. I was thinking Cowboy Beebop, but I've seen all of the sessions. I would still like to own it, but for now I want something I haven't seen. GTO looks good, but I don't know much about it. I also want Key the Metal Idol, and Love Hina. But then there's Bubblegum Crisis also. Not to mention Magic Users Club and the first two seasons of Ranma. I'm so confused. I've never not had another anime in line before. I must be slipping in my old age. Yep, my nice old age of 20...^_^
Any advice or reccomendations? I noticed GTO was one of you top 10 anime Omni. Is it really that good? C'mon people, toss me some suggestions here....

I was stuck with so many questions. One, why did 14 year old children have to pilot the Evas. What did the 17 angel mean by calling human Lilims(sp?). I'm sure it involves Lilith somehow. There were alot of unanswered questions I had going into the final two eps of Eva, and none of them were answered. I think the reason behind that was the fact that just weren't important. This further backs my original concept of the Angel/Eva thing just being a backdrop to tell the story of the characters. Every main character had an episode devoted entire to them. Shinji was the main purpose behing this series. That's why only his ending is shown. It clearly said before the final episode that there wasn't enough time to show the finale of all the cases, so it was just going to show Shinji's. It's such ashame. I was really into Asuka's character. I want to see her finale. I was to see how she overcomes her inner demons. I read on an old forum thread that up until episode 16, Eva was just a monster of the week anime. Anno didn't plan on making anything psychological until a friend gave him his psych book or something like that. I really have to disagree, even if that is true. I believe the purpose from the beginning was to tell Shinji's story, not just to be a "monster of the week" anime. Shinji's character is clearly presented in the first couple episodes. Anno started the series by showing you a strong glimpse of Shinji's character. Then it sort of takes a backseat to Rei's and Asuka's characters. You get glimpse into their past and Misato's. Then up around 16 or 17 Shinji's character starts to make a strong comeback, and builds up all the way to the final episode. These characters, and their personalities are clearly presented all through out the series, not just after episode 16. My only complaint is I wish there was three more episodes that showed Rei's, Asuka's and Misato's finales. It's weird. Although I have so many unanswered questions about the angels and other things, I just don't care. The ending left me filling complete. Eva can be a different series everytime you watch it. I noticed that my first time through. I was basically watching through Asuka's character. She was my favorite, and I experienced her "self", for lack of a better word. I'm going to watch it again, and try to get into Shinji's character more, and experience him, since he is the main purpose of it all. I never really felt Rei's character at all. I'm not sure if I can see Eva through her point of view. I will try though...
So in closing, my offical stance on Eva is as follows. Eva is a series about development. Development of yourself. Dealing with your problems, and facing your fears to break down all barriers and bring you closer to others. To humanity in general. The Eva/Angel conflict is a backdrop to tell this story. To further develop the characters, and bring you closer to them. I do still believe that there is more symbolism in the Eva/Angel conflict then I'm picking up. I'm still working on that part, but for now, I do feel complete without knowing. I definatly enjoyed the series. It is one of my favorites, and I plan on watching it many times more. But for now this is my Final Genesis...

<why is it that my two favorite animes are the two that are the hardest to understand? I love deep thought, and Lain and Eva both gave me much to think about. They are more then mere animation. They brought up questions in me that I never considered before. Lain even made me question myself, and all of my values. Any work of fiction that can do that is more then just animation...> -

Okay, how's this...
It seems to me that the whole Angel thing isn't the plot of Eva at all. The whole series is about it's characters, and what they experienced, and had to deal with throughout there lives. Mostly, the series is about Shinji, and him coming to terms with himself. Learning to love himself, and understand why he didn't in the first place. The Angels and Evas are just the backdrop that is chosen to tell this story. Or perhaps they play a much more symbolic role in telling Shinji's story. I'm sure they do, it's coming to me, but I can't quite get it out yet...
or perhaps I'm completely off.....
Well at least I feel that I can put this all together. I have ideas on the tip of my tongue that I just can't get out. I've all but completely given up on figuring out Lain. I don't even know where to start on that....^_^

The End of Eva......(not the movie)

I just finished Eva. The last two episodes were...."wierd". They rivaled Lain in terms of wierdness. I mean, sure I didn't "understand" it, and I have still yet to figure out what anything that happened in these episodes has to do with the angels or even the Evas for that matter. No, I'm not stupid, I just need more time to put everything together. My mind is still screwed from Lain's ending. Don't worry, I'm working on it. I'm getting Death and Rebirth Tuesday. I went to get it today, because in my last Animerica mag, the release date was last Tuesday. Evidently it was delayed and doesn't come out into next Tuesday. Anyways, I'm off to think about Eva, and probably start watching it again. Subbed this time. Asuka's english voice was just irritating.....^_^
