  • Foreshadow of things to come.... 2002-08-08 21:54:47 Well, today proved to be quite productive. I went and saw Signs. That's it. I haven't even opened Premiere all day. It's just something about editting on my days off that I don't like. If I have to be at work in 4 hour, I'll spend those 4 editting. If I'm off all day, then I don't edit because it will make my day off go by to fast. Oh well, I will have had a day and a half off when I start back editting tomorrow after work, so maybe I can finally fix up the second verse completely...

Tomorrow is payday. YES!!! I'm considering getting Warcraft 3 tomorrow. I need a good computer game before college starts back in 12 more days. My final 12 days before I will be leaving here at 7:00 AM to go to classes until 3:00 PM, then go to work until 9:00 PM. I just can't wait. Nothing like having a complete schedule. I will probably be working just about everyday too. Since I'm not going to be able to put in anymore 8 hour shifts, I'm going to have to get by to doing alot of 4 and 5 hour shifts. Good thing is I have an hour break between every class to make my way to Lenoir Hall, grab me a chicken teriake(sp?) sub, and edit, or play a couple games, or dare I say, study. Yeah, sure I'll study...I'll save that for the night shifts at work when nobody is coming in. I'm sure not going to waste my free hour studying....

    So here's my schedule

    On Mon, Wed, and Fri.

College Algebra(AGAIN!! For some reason my college algebra from HCC wouldn't transfer over.....)

    hour break(YAY)

Elementary Japanese(this should be easy, I've already had 3 years back in high school...^_^. Part of my Asian Studies minor)

    hour break(YAY)

Ancient Survey(This class is going to rock. Ancient Art, starting with the Age of the Pyramids, and working it's way up to Roman civilization. Really looking foward to this class....)

    Tues/Thursday

Comp. Programming (the only class that is part of my major. It's 2 hours long...yay....)

2 hour break(to recover from the headache of trying to program for the previous 2 hours..^_^)

Elementary Japanese(yes, I have this class 5 days a week.....)

So as you can tell, it's a very laid back schedule. Only 13 hrs. The minimum is 12 hrs, so I'm only one over. And that's because of Japanese, since it's held everyday of the week. I should be able to breeze through this semester rather easily....

  • "Present Day, Present Time, <evil laugh>" 2002-08-07 23:56:56 Well now, I don't have a movie to comment on tonight. I didn't watch one. I'm in the mood to watch all three Chinese Ghost Story, but it's a bit too late to start now. Really, I only want to see the second. It's the only one I haven't watched more than once. I was part 3 on a regualar basis, and part 1 when I don't want to see part 3. I'm not sure why, but part 2 always gets overlooked....

I'm off tomorrow, but don't plan on doing much editting to my new vid. I'll probably just hang around, watch a couple movies, and work on my car. By work on my car I mean carry it up to a shop and have them change the oil while I wait patiently. If I worked on my car, it would probably never run again. I do plan on washing it though, so that could be considered work I guess....

I'm finally almost pleased with the second verse of my vid. I have all the clips laid out, and I've applied FX to the first have of the clips and I'm happy with them. Now I just have to go in, and work some FX into the rest of the clips for the verse and I will be at the halfway point. The second verse ends around the 1:45 mark, and the song is only 3:36. I finish this verse, then I have one chorus, the solo, a bridge, another chorus, and the ending solo to lay out. Aside from the bridge, I will be done with the lyrics for the most part, since the choruses are all the same lyric wise. Looking foward to working with the solo. Never editted in one of those before....

Plus, I have to review Devo's new vid, and MJ's new vid. They should be done by the end of next week...

  • Blah Blah Blah, Donnie Yen, Blah Blah, Conner McCloud, Blah... 2002-08-07 01:01:49 This entry contains SPOILERS of Highlander: Endgame. If you haven't seen this movie, and plan on watching it then I suggest you skip over the first paragrah.....

    <<<<YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED>>>>

Tonight's movie experience wasn't as good as last nights. I watched Highlander Endgame. While it's a good movie in it's own right, it didn't make my list of favorites. This is another DVD I've owned for over a year, and tonight was the first time I watched it. I saw it back it theaters though. How could they kill off Conner. He was the man. Sure Adrian Paul is younger, knows how to act, and even knows martial arts, but Chistopher Lambert just has that badass voice and look that I've come to associate with the Highlanders. Seeing as how Duncan took the heads of Conner and Jacob, I don't see how they can make a sequel. He is bascially the most powerful immortal there is. They said Jacob was, and Duncan had to "absorb" Conner to even stand a chance, so once he "absorbed" Jacob, there's just no competition left. Conner's death would be my main complaint with the movie's plot....

My main complaint with the movie would be Donnie Yen's role. It should have been much bigger. He's the man. He wasn't called the fastest man in Hong Kong for nothing. When are people going to learn. This little role here, and an even smaller role in Blade 2. Come on now, let's see some more Donnie Yen. He's going to be in Shanghai Knight's with Jacky Chan and Owen Wilson, so maybe he will have bigger role, and start to replace Jet Li as the next big name in American martial arts flicks. Then they will start to release his older movies over here, and ruin them by adding rap soundtracks. I just can't wait.....^_^

I think that's really all I have to say. I didn't advance any further in my new vid today. I did go back and "modify" a few cuts, and picked up a new effect that I'm going to call Tapestry Allusion...j/k. It's not original at all, basically just a modified version of Omni's Tapestry Illusion. I'll probably save this effect for F(t)tR, so you will just have to wait and see it then..................

    Duncan: "There's blood on it."
Methos: "I didn't say it was easy."

  • Blah blah blah, Tsui Hark, blah blah, Allusion, blah .... 2002-08-06 00:18:51 I just watched Time and Tide. That movie was awesome. I've owned it for about a year now, and I watched it once when I first bought it, and thought it was pretty good, but nothing really great. It kinda lost me the first time because 3 scenes in the movie are in Spanish. In the original Japanese release those 3 scenes are in English, but in the english dub, they are in spanish. Go figure. Anyways, this time I picked more on the story, and it is now one of my favorite all time movies. I knew Tsui Hark was one of my favorite directors for a reason. Even if he hadn't produced Chinese Ghost Story 1,2, and 3 or done Once Upon a Time in China he would have become my favorite director after this film tonight. His job of directing in this film was spectacular. I just can't believe I've had this movie on my shelf for so long and never knew how good it was. I should probably go and watch Iron Monkey 2 again. Perhaps it will better now too. Hell, I might even go rent Gen-X Cops, and watch that again. Nicholas Tse was in it, and he was awesome in Time and Tide. When I saw Gen-X Cops though, I vowed to never watch it again, and put it second on my worst movies of all time list, only topped by Citizen Kane. I remember that movie being so horrible that it just wasn't funny. What I really want to see right now is Tokyo Raiders. I don't recall anything about the movie other than I loved it, and have always wanted to own, but just haven't bought it yet...

I finished the second verse in my vid, but I am not happy with it. In fact, I'm probably going to wipe it all out and start again. The first 1:40 came together rather quickly and easily. Even though I had the second verse completely planned out, once I laid all the clips it just didn't look right. So I'm heading back to the drawing board for that...

I think Allusion looks better that Illusion. So perhaps me spelling it wrong is a sign that you should change it's name....^_^

  • So I was wrong, That's nothing new.... 2002-08-04 22:10:29 Well Omni, I don't think I'm going to get around to reviewing M V tonight after all. I spent alot more time working on my vid then I planned. I got about 25 seconds more done to past few hours. All the way up to the start of the second verse. I don't go in to work until late tomorrow, so I'm going to get up and review M V for you, then maybe review Devo's Eva vid too. Not sure, but I will get yours done before work tomorrow Omni.

To all who may have missed my 2nd down from this journal entry, here's the link to my vid preview...
