Everywhere I Go, I Hear Music

I spent a while tinkering with my video last night, without making much progress. I wanted to change the order of some clips, but that throws them out of synch with the music, and they don't look so good any more when I tweak the speed. I think I need to redo the intro and credit screens too.
But now I swear, every song I hear, I start evaluating for amv potential. Does that happen to everyone? Now I've got more ideas for new videos than I know what to do with. I'm going to have to pick and choose and figure out which one is most workable for the next one! -

I've been sick, busy, and/or just plain away from my computer for a week or so, but I finally got around to making an entry for my video. I'm working on a second draft of it, hoping to have it ready to unveil in a few weeks. Not changing much, but the changes I am making are kind of fiddly.
It looks like I may be going to ACEN this year! I've never been to a con before, so I'm excited. Hope I'll have enough money to spend.
On the minus side, my VCR's been on the fritz. That means I have to watch my anime through the DVD-ROM drive on my computer, and I can't rent anything that my local store has on VHS only. This weekend is an exception, since I'm cat-sitting for a neighbor. I've been having marathons for three evenings in a row. I finished Arc the Lad, but otherwise I've been watching really sweet stuff: Saint Tail, Love Hina, Mahou Tsuki Tai, Kiki's Delivery Service, My Neighbor Totoro ... all this in the past 3 nights! Tonight is my last chance, so I've got Spirit of Wonder, Maison Ikkoku, and Kimagure Orange Road. - Yesssss! 2002-02-27 16:42:42 Finished a complete "draft" of my video last night. It took all evening just to get the thing saved and compressed! I'll make a page for it soon. Today I can't concentrate because I've got a headache (been fighting off a cold all week, I think) and I have to go to a MiSTing session tonight.
- Ah, the Thrill of Victory! 2002-02-22 15:45:21 I guess this is what making amv's is about. I had the editing about 2/3 finished, but I just couldn't seem to make the last set of clips I'd selected fit the last section of music in a graceful way. There was a section of two longish clips that seemed to belong together, but I couldn't figure which section of music they fit best. Then last night, I added about three more clips, and voila--suddenly they all fell into sequence. Was that ever a rush! Now there's just tweaking to do ... adjusting in- and out-points so that things fall on the beats, and maybe smoothing out some of the transitions. Then I'll try compressing it. This is exciting!

Frustration

Spent the weekend working on my video, in between watching the Olympics. I thought I could get at least a rough cut of the whole thing done, but I got hung up on a return of the picture distortion. I suspect it's a return of the telecine problem, but I don't know how to fix it. I've posted to the video help forum looking for advice.
I suppose I should mention what series & song I'm working with, but I feel strangely embarrassed about the idea. Of course, right now I don't even know if I'm going to be able to find a place to put this up on the web. When I first started, I told myself I'd just make a video for fun and maybe to show my friends ... but now that it's coming along, I'm really feeling the itch to put it out where people can see it! Maybe I'll do a little research on hosts. My own account only gives me 2.5 megs of space for a webpage.
