  • Holy crap, I'm still alive! 2002-05-24 14:59:18 Yes, I am! I am indeed! System troubles, life, etcetera. You've heard it before. Enough excuses. I've scrapped two ideas that weren't working at all, and I'm currently working on a new idea. I've now got Premiere 6.0, so of course, I'm also tearing my hair out wondering just where the hell they put transitions at now. I think I'll go back to 5.1RT real soon. Why can't Adobe stay consistent? *sigh* Anyways, little spoiler for you - the track uses Daft Punk - _Aerodynamic_.
  • Finally back in action! I hope. 2002-02-08 15:35:28 Well, after repeated problems with various computers - files vanishing, recompiling apache so it doesn't choke on 4 connections, fixing this that and the other, and FINALLY, over a MONTH after shipping it, getting back a new drive for my video editing machine, things SHOULD be fixed now.

-sigh- I'm now a month behind schedule on two more AMVs I'm working on. But at least you can download ONE of them now.
  • F$#!&*ing Western Digital crap 2002-01-18 14:49:20 Well, go figure. Seven days ago my piecemeal CD-ROM tower lost it's 10G Western Digital drive. Well two days ago my primary editing machine lost it's 10G Western Digital scratch/cache/footage disk. Both were head crashes. Go figure, huh? So now my editing machine is down till I get a new disk in it, which is going to be at least a week and a half away. Lucky me, huh? :P

Then I found out that the disk that's holding my AMV's on the httpd box has one bad physical sector. WOOHOO! And it's RIGHT AT 72% THROUGH the large version! WOO! Let's see how many downloads THAT screws up! (A LOT.) Sorry! :( Thankfully, it's only ONE bad sector and the drive isn't failing yet, knock on wood, so it's been fixed by physically moving the file to another portion of the disk.

So now I'm on a FreeBSD machine that is way underpowered for what I'm doing right now. Woo. By the way, Mozilla is a frigging memory hog that takes 24 hours to compile on a K6/3-400. Gods I need a day job. :(
  • Hostin' ain't easy! 2002-01-15 14:33:07 Well, some time last night apache decided to stop running - gods know why - and I just found out a whopping 5 minutes ago. So there's the answer for all those download problems. *sigh* I hate it when things break.

Must mean nobody's watched EoE or Air yet this year. I'm thinking about watching Air again today, but.. I don't know if I want to deal with that level of insanity yet.

Ah well. Downloads are working again. :D

  • Whoops? 2002-01-14 04:23:13 Jeez. Damn near crashed my server earlier. Discovered that FlashGet is unpleasant on servers, likes to open many download threads. Note to readers: If you open multiple download threads (ie; 4+), I'm liable to notice and remove your access. You don't NEED multiple downloads of the same file at the same time IF you use something that supports resume. My server DOES handle resumes correctly, so if you use something like wget or GetRight, you won't have a problem. It's nothing -personal-, but my connection starts to choke BADLY because of some things my ISP has, when I've got one person with 4+ connections to the same service.
