  • Effects of a brain fart 2001-10-03 00:53:22 You know, I had written a complete essay on the state of AMVs today when I had a brain fart and deleted it all since I knew essays aren't what we need right now. So let me just say that I appreciate these people:

    turboneko
    NightOwl
    aokakesu
    drdude

for just being great people as well as great editors. 'Tsall.
  • *evil laugh* 2001-10-01 11:29:38 *eyes sparkle* I have Excel Saga raws... oh this is dangerous... just give me a song...
  • Phew, for a minute there, I lost myself 2001-09-30 01:57:29 So I got hits! Cool. Onto the usual ramble:

I am excited. I am ecstatic. Not only is the Neo-Tokyo anime fest in NYC going to consist of anime showings at the Cinema Village, it also calls for an otaku gathering at central park, one of my favorite places to hang, sleep, play frisbee. I suck at frisbee, by the way. Then a week later, it's the big apple anime film fest! I might finally get to meet Nightowl! Me happy. Me very happy.

Neither do AMV contests, unfortunately, I'd love to get a reaction to "Numb" that I can be there for! :P This will enter Mindwarp's contest, I gaurantee it! What am I saying? I still have yet to post it! Well, until I get a new encode, all I can do is serve a 300 meg interlaced MPEG-2, and I am NOT ready to do that.

More opinions from friends at the dorm came in... outlook very good. Even had a friend tell me to send it to Gilmour and Waters. Good suggestion, but I think the last thing I need is to prove to my heroes that I have way too much time on my hands.

More work in After Effects, as usual. This time playing with "The Wiggler" and more motion math goodness. I swear, those guy at Adobe... geniuses. Also practiced a little bezier curve masking on an Asuka JPG. That stuff is tough, especially when pen tool on a point converts it from corner to curve, then point converter on a curve extender turns it into a corner with extending curves, and point converter on a point converts it back to curve. Did that make any sense? Didn't think so. Whatever, the point is I'm getting used to AE5 more than I have Illustrator or Photoshop when I first got them. I now also understand the different keyframes.

Anybody want an effect done in AE? I'm for hire! Just let me know. All I ask is a little credit somewhere, I guess. Ooh, laundry's done.

And a closing note... DIM SUM ROXXORZZZ!!!!
  • Kusoyaro couldn't be more right 2001-09-29 02:00:29 Just read his journal... but New Jersey's not really the armpit of the US, we're the third nipple.
  • Nobody reads my journal suspicion confirmed 2001-09-28 22:51:55 It's the truth... the only guy who's seen this is Nightowl... because I told him to. Oh well, blah! Blah, I say! Well, why don't I make myself even more useful and note the series I am watching, what I am up to, and what I think so far since I have not much else to do before "Invisible Man" comes on Sci-Fi.

    Fruits Basket - Ep. 4:
Good series so far! Excellent premise. Even though the first episode was slower than anything I've seen before, the later episodes finally give it some natural progression without me forcing myself to stay tuned. Now, about those furry animals the guys turn into... KAWAII!!!

Kero Kero Chime - Ep. 2:
Definitely for lovers of frogs... and nothing like a hot, naked female costar to start of a series, eh? Wait... EWWW!!! Note to self... never put "lover of frogs" and "hot, naked female" in the same sentence. Then again, what am I complaining about? Alexander had a freaky snake coming out of a woman's uterus... Well anyway, so far good premise, good characters, cute frogs, wanna see more!

NeiA_7 - Ep. 2: Ok, I've only seen these two episodes and I've only spotted two traces of Lainness. This is DEFINATELY like comparing FLCL to Evangelion. Trust me, if you love FLCL, you'll have no problem adjusting to this one. I have yet to see anything develop in this series, but it's only been two eps, who knows what's coming later...

Brigadoon - Ep. 2: So you get this weird girl with a weird habit of dreaming about her own death and her weird-ass guardian that protects her from... umm... aliens? Not quite sure yet. But to get to Ep. 2 and get this far in the plot? I'm smelling disappointment but it's too early to judge.

Read or Die - Ep. 2: I want episode 3... and I want it NOW! What a dissapointment that this is only a 3 ep OVA! This hurts me! I love this! It has awesome action, awesome reality-bending character abilities, awesome enemies, awesome soundtrack, awesome colors and animation, and it's only three episodes!!! This KILLS me! What also kills me is the fact that the last episode isn't released yet!! ARRGGHH!!!

Comic Party - Ep. 12: For those who wonder why we make AMVs or dress up or make doujinshi based on our anime heroes, this is for them! And what an excellent way to show people not "in the know" that they're really missing out on some good stuff! Ok, so there's no AMV-making in this anime, but doujinshi and cosplay are, so it's worth the look!

Angelic Layer - Ep. 14: It's made to seem like the next Pokemon... but it doesn't rely on cute monsters and sorry excuses for main characters. They try to make it look Pokemon, but that never works. Anyway, the series itself is nice, the story is fun, the characters are funny... worth a look, not bad at all.

I will add more once I feel like it... geez... I can get destructive when I'm bored! OOH! Invisible Man!
