JOURNAL: gambitt (Jeff Heller)

  • I go? I go! 2002-09-24 02:16:43 Tim: When Nate says he got you a room and your parents offer travel money, you take that opportunity even if it means missing half a week of classes (more in my case).

Oh yeah, stoner moment of the year: my sister and I watching Chicken Run...

watched the entire thing... just sat there and watched... not saying a word...

when the credits start rolling at the end my sister says, "Dude... those chickens talked..." and my genius reply is, "And they're british..." best... stoner... moment... EVER.
  • part 2 2002-09-24 01:34:58 Oh duh, how can I forget Tim and Vlad and Alan and pai and... and... etc.! YEAH!
  • Beating agitation 2002-09-24 01:33:50 Dude... seriously, I'm so stressed right now because of no time for a breather, but seriously, I get to go to Atlanta in three days. No, wait, two now. I'll get picked up by Nathan, and then I get to see Hsien! And Joe! Oh man, and Marco and Christina again! I so want another picture taken of us without my silly Shoujocon staff sash on... Dude, the thought of being with Turboneko (and finally letting full staffs of Nightowl Pictures and Turboneko Studios meet) makes this week so much more tolerable. Also can't wait to see how DDR2 goes. My Brilliant2U track is going to rock. I already beta tested it on my anime club, and they were going nuts over it. So damn proud of that two month project. It's something I put in a video portfolio, no question. Wonder if I should start making NightOwl Pictures CDs again... um... uh oh, gotta start burning... oh shit, CD labels too... aw dammit... NATE!!! WHERE ARE YOU!!! CALL SCOTT AND ROSE!!! Umm, off to burn some CDs. Later folks!
  • 2002-09-09 12:47:17 Yeah, so, week one of SVA classes has passed and I want to change more than half my schedule (which isn't saying much since I only have five classes). Believe it or not, Photoshop class and Final Cut/After Effects class are the first two to go. Apparently I know more than what they're teaching. The only real advantage to going to either is that both teachers have SOLID connections to Adobe. That's nice, but I'd rather be taught by the computer art major teachers since they are FROM Adobe..

Besides that, I also want to get out of my Patterns of Time class. Not only is it 2:50 of one man talking, this man is Einstein's idiot nitwit half-brother. The man is psycho and a moron. Specifically, he seems to think that intimidation can teach a class. None of us are taking it seriously. This could just be the first class, sure, but we're responsible for our own notes, and will not get one handout from that class EVER. Now now, don't you dare say I have no right to be a student if I can't even take my own notes. That's not the point. The point is for one man talking for two hours and fifty minutes, not even caring if you're alive within that timeframe, and basically just summarizing passages from books we're readng, that's not a lazy student, but a lazy teacher. I've had lazy teachers before, and I've gotten them fired (with some help), so I am not a guy you want to piss off. I think it's only at SVA where students basically have more power than their professors.

So, besides that, I also still have no internet. Yes, this be the computer labs at SVA. Not a bad connection, really, but I still heavily look forward to that T3 we're getting in mid-October. Unfortunately I fear it'll be monitored and controlled, maybe a bandwidth limit, too (though for a first year of this service for free, they may not be implementing that yet and using us as guinea pigs. To that, I say WOOHOO!!! SVA's gonna LOVE me.

Also found out the school has a ton more anime fans now. All the new freshmen are Cowboy Bebop/Outlaw Star/Dragonball Z obsessed and are ready to be enlightened. Note: anime club last year had about 14 people, steady, in the club. We're looking at 30 this year. Freshmen alone give us more than half. Can't wait. I've been christened official newscaster.

Well I better get to copying those advertisements. I've also been chosen to design the ad for the club. All they told me was to make an ad that would get the attention of freshmen. That's our audience. So what would you do? Well, all I did was put the word ANIME in GIANT letters on this page, cut it off a bit (printer margins are a bitch). That's all you need folks. If I had seen that my freshman year I would have creamed my pants. Ugh, bad imagery. Yeah anyway, that be'd all for now. I'll write back again someday, maybe :P

Oh yeah, P.S., I guess, Nate, CALL ME!!!
  • Back in NYC, I am. Happy, I AM NOT. 2002-08-31 15:08:54 Yay, so I moved back into the SVA dorms on Thursday (had to wake up at 5AM. We got there at 6:30. Yes, my dad is insane) and rudely woke up my new roommate so the door could be open, so I could move in. Was able to do that quietly, and I'm back on the good side of the room like last year. I really have nothing to complain about.

But I do. I don't have a single weekend free of nothing to do in NYC until the middle of October, and I am FUCKING pissed. This weekend it's Mom's b-day and a wedding (that's fine, even though I could care less about the people getting married, and I know the feeling is mutual), then it's Rosh Hashanah (again, I have to pay $15.50 and suffer through the terror of NJTransit just to eat pot roast? No, not happy at all!) Then it's Yom Kippur... did I mention I don't give a hoot about religion? I could probably very easily sneak out of this one. Then it's another wedding on Staten Island (this is no biggie. I take my suit to the dorms, take... what do you think? Metro North or PATH or what, to Staten Island, stay for the wedding, then train back to NYC. That's fine, at least it ain't Jersey), then AWA. I have no reason to complain about AWA, but I want to enjoy New York god dammit!!! It's been months since I've been on the island for more than two days and even now I haven't enjoyed that amount of time yet. You guessed it, I'm in Jersey again.

So, another reason to complain. They promised us internet when we moved in. What happened? No internet until the middle of October. Ok, fine. Now what? Get Road Runner for a month and a half? Don't think so if they do contracts. What about DSL? Money back garauntee after a month... I may just do that. Currently I am internet-less and am using my sister's laptop right now to write here. So, don't bother replying to this journal because chances are, I won't see it. I noticed no one usually replies to my location rants so I guess I have nothing to worry about. Well, if you at least want to send a little love or sympathy, cyberwares@yahoo.com. I'll be sure to see it... a month and a half from now. God this sucks. I love/hate SVA.

As for anything AMV related what do I have to say... oh yeah, showed my friends my DDR project and got good reviews. The music video Nate and I did in a week floored a friend of mine, now he's running around saying it's the best AMV he's ever seen and kicks the ass of the original (*wink wink Nate*). Exxagerating? Yeah he is one to do that, but if you're going to AUSA or AWA you'll be able to see for yourself.

I used to think AXNY was run by Central Park Media. Now I know it's run by ADV. It makes perfect sense. Asuka on the ads? Suncoast, Forbidden Planet and Virgin advertising it? That can't possibly be a fan-run con. I'm still glad I'm not going, but I hope it isn't a drag for those who did. Well, I am being called now, so I shall go. If I write again, it'll be from the SVA library cursing a storm. God damn SVA...
